When we read Gen 17 we see scripture recording circumcision came to Abraham as a token/aut H226 of the covenant/bariyth between him and Yahuah and scripture is silent on anyone before Abraham ever being circumcised.
Gen 17:10 “This is My covenant which you guard between Me and you, and your seed after you: Every male child among you is to be circumcised.
Gen 17:11 “And you shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin, and it shall become a sign of the covenant between Me and you.
Gen 17:12 “And a son of eight days is circumcised by you, every male child in your generations, he who is born in your house or bought with silver from any foreigner who is not of your seed.
While we will see about the token of the covenant a little later, we need to first see the book of Romans which speaks of his uncircumcised state when Yahuah made a promise to him and he believed in the promise.
Ro 4:1 ¶ What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?
Ro 4:9 ¶ Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.
10 How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.
Why was the token given?
Gen 11 gives us a brief of Abraham's who was Abram at that time in the UR of Chaldees. If Abraham was a descendant of Noach, Shem as his lineage shows us in Luke 3, how did he land up in Ur of Chaldees.
Gen 11 begins with letting us know that the whole earth/arets H776 was of one dabar H1697 translated as speech
Gen 11:1 AND the whole earth/arets H776 was of one language, and of one speech/dabar H1697.
Gen 11:2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shin`ar; and they dwelt there.
The word arets H776 which is translated as earth can also mean a large part of the land/country/ground. It is evident that the text is about the fathers who moved away from the outer portion of Eden where Yahuah drove Adam and Chauah and whose sons and daughters were dwelling there. We have evidence in scripture that when Qaiyn killed his brother Hebel, he was driven away from the place of the summit where Adam and his seed sacrificed to Yahuah to be in covenant with him. Post Qayin being driven out, he went and dwelt in the land of Nod. We have scripture confirming that post the Noahic flood the fathers went away from the place of the summit which can be understood when we see and understand that the passage means arets to be the land/country and not the whole earth and they spoke one dabar. Remember, the focus was on the covenanted and not the pagans who populated the earth through the corrupt seed of Qayin & other seed of Adam not named/identified in scripture. We must understand phrase 'journeyed from the east' which shows us that they journeyed from the east of Eden, the place of the summit and came to the plain of Shinar where they started to build a strong hold city and tower in their rebellious ways against Yahuah. Yahuah couldn't allow this as He had Yerushalayim in mind which was His strong hold city and its inhabitants would walk in the ways of Yahuah and come into its gates to worship Him. Hence, he scattered them to the ends of the earth by confusing their lip. The phrase 'face of all the earth' shows us that it means the whole earth and not the land
Gen 11:7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their lip/shapah H8193, that they may not understand one another's speech/shapah H8193.
Gen 11:8 So YAHUAH scattered them abroad from thence upon the face/paniym H6440 of all the earth/arets H776: and they left off to build the city.
The context defines the arets spoken of here and also the word shapah which English translates it as language. Shapah also means border/edge/mix and since they were of one dabar, they were confounded with a mix and this was the first time the word of Yahuah became unto man precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little and there a little. The dabar wouldn't be plain to the fathers anymore.
Isa 28:10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
Isa 28:11 For with foreign lips/sapah H8193 and another tongue will he speak to this people.
In the dispersion lied, Nahor, Terah and Abraham in Ur of Chaldees as their fathers had journeyed away from the east to the land of Shinar/Chaldees
Abraham's genealogy:
Luk 3:34 of Yaʽaqoḇ, of Yitsḥaq, of Aḇraham, of Teraḥ, of Naḥor,
Luk 3:35 of Seruḡ, of Reʽu, of Peleḡ, of Ěḇer, of Shĕlaḥ,
Luk 3:36 of Qĕynan, of Arpaḵshaḏ, of Shĕm, of Noaḥ, of Lemeḵ,
Luk 3:37 of Methushelaḥ, of Ḥanoḵ, of Yereḏ, of Mahalalĕl, of Qĕynan,
Luk 3:38 of Enosh, of Shĕth, of Aḏam, of Elohim.
Peleg: Scripture records that the arets/land or country was divided in the day of Peleg. That's when the dispersion away from Shinar happened
Gen 11:16 And Ěḇer lived thirty-four years, and brought forth Peleḡ.
Gen 11:17 And after he brought forth Peleḡ, Ěḇer lived four hundred and thirty years, and brought forth sons and daughters.
Gen 11:18 And Peleḡ lived thirty years, and brought forth Reʽu.
Gen 11:19 And after he brought forth Reʽu, Peleḡ lived two hundred and nine years, and brought forth sons and daughters.
Gen 11:20 And Reʽu lived thirty-two years, and brought forth Seruḡ.
Gen 11:21 And after he brought forth Seruḡ, Reʽu lived two hundred and seven years, and brought forth sons and daughters.
Gen 11:22 And Seruḡ lived thirty years, and brought forth Naḥor.
Gen 11:23 And after he brought forth Naḥor, Seruḡ lived two hundred years, and brought forth sons and daughters.
Gen 11:24 And Naḥor lived twenty-nine years, and brought forth Teraḥ.
Gen 11:25 And after he brought forth Teraḥ, Naḥor lived one hundred and nineteen years, and brought forth sons and daughters.
Gen 11:26 And Teraḥ lived seventy years, and brought forth Aḇram, Naḥor, and Haran
1Ch 1:19 To Ěḇer were born two sons: the name of one was Peleḡ, for in his days the earth was divided, and his brother’s name was Yoqtan.
1Ch 1:20 And Yoqtan brought forth Almoḏaḏ, and Sheleph, and Ḥatsarmaweth, and Yeraḥ,
1Ch 1:21 and Haḏoram, and Uzal, and Diqlah,
1Ch 1:22 and Ěyḇal, and Aḇima’ĕl, and Sheḇa,
1Ch 1:23 and Ophir, and Ḥawilah, and Yoḇaḇ. All these were the sons of Yoqtan.
1Ch 1:24 Shĕm, Arpaḵshaḏ, Shĕlah,
1Ch 1:25 Ěḇer, Peleḡ, Reʽu,
1Ch 1:26 Seruḡ, Naḥor, Teraḥ,
1Ch 1:27 and Aḇram, that is Aḇraham.
This is evidence that post this division the fathers who were driven away remained in an uncircumcised state and were called nations/guym being identified by the seed of Yapeth
Gen 10:1 And this is the genealogy of the sons of Noaḥ: Shĕm, Ḥam, and Yepheth. And sons were born to them after the flood.
Gen 10:2 The sons of Yepheth: Gomer, and Maḡoḡ, and Maḏai, and Yawan, and Tuḇal, and Mesheḵ, and Tiras.
Gen 10:3 And the sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Toḡarmah.
Gen 10:4 And the sons of Yawan: Elishah and Tarshish, Kittim and Doḏanim.
Gen 10:5 From these the coastland peoples of the nations/guym H1471 were separated into their lands/arets H776, everyone according to his language/lashun H3956, according to their clans, into their nations.
Notice that the Guym/Gentiles were already a separated people who were not in covenant with Yahuah. And this is recorded in Gen 10 and hence, Gen 11 should be understood as the fathers who moved away from the land/arets of the east and dwelt among the divided people everyone according to his language and yet spoke one dabar/Word until their lip/shapah was confounded by Yahuah.
That's how we see, Terah, Nahor and Abram were in the land of Shinar until Yahuah called Abram to come out of his father's house to the land which He would promise His seed.
Gen 12:1 And יהוה said to Aḇram, “Go yourself out of your land, from your relatives and from your father’s house, to a land which I show you.
Gen 12:2 “And I shall make you a great nation, and bless you and make your name great, and you shall be a blessing!
Gen 12:3 “And I shall bless those who bless you, and curse him who curses you. And in you all the clans of the earth shall be blessed.”
Gen 12:4 So Aḇram left, as יהוה had commanded him, and Lot went with him. And Aḇram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Ḥaran.
Gen 12:5 And Aḇram took Sarai his wife and Lot his brother’s son, and all their possessions that they had gathered, and the beings whom they had acquired in Ḥaran, and they set out for the land of Kenaʽan. And they came to the land of Kenaʽan.
We then know from scripture that Abraham was 75 years old when he departed from Haran and came to Kenaan. He came to Kenaan in the uncircumcised state of dispersion to be in covenant with Yahuah and walked with Yahuah 24 years in this state until he was circumcised at the age of 99 and then when he was 100 Yitshaq the promised seed was born to him
Ge 11:31 And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there
Gen 11:32 And the days of Teraḥ came to be two hundred and five years, and Teraḥ died in Ḥaran.
Gen 17:24 And Aḇraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
Gen 21:4 And Aḇraham circumcised his son Yitsḥaq when he was eight days old, as Elohim had commanded him.
Gen 21:5 And Aḇraham was one hundred years old when his son Yitsḥaq was born to him.
We already saw in our previous video how Yahuah changed the name of Abram to Abraham and Sarai to Sarah as he gave them the two hey/ha from his name and the yod commanded him to be circumcised by a sharp tool/uau and the seed that was now pass from him to Sarah would be a qodesh/set apart seed.
Yod/Hand which did the work, hey/given to Abram to change his name from Ahba/father of ram/exalted to Abh/father of raham/many nations
uau is the sharp tent peg/instrument which circumcised him
Hey given to Sharai which means 'my prince' changed to Sharah princess from whom would come the shar/prince hey/behold
Gen 17:5 “And no longer is your name called Aḇram, but your name shall be Aḇraham, because I shall make you a father of many nations.
Gen 17:6 “And I shall make you bear fruit exceedingly, and make nations of you, and sovereigns shall come from you.
Gen 17:15 And Elohim said to Aḇraham, “As for Sarai your wife, do not call her name Sarai, for Sarah is her name.
Gen 17:16 “And I shall bless her and also give you a son by her. And I shall bless her, and she shall become nations/guym H1471 – sovereigns of peoples are to be from her.”
We saw that circumcision came as sign/aut of the covenant/bariyth.
Did circumcision exist before Abraham?
The Midrash Tanuchma on Noah 6:9 says there were 7 men who were righteous. This is one of the seven that was circumcised when born into the word: The first man was created circumcised, and Seth his son was born circumcised, as it says "... and he begot in his likeness after his image ..." Noah was born circumcised as it says "... He was perfect in his generations ..." Jacob was born circumcised as it says "... Jacob was an innocent man ..." Josef was born circumcised as it says "... These are the generations of Jacob: Joseph ..." that he was similar to his father. Moses was born circumcised as it says "... she saw him that he was good ..." And Job was born circumcised, as it says "... sincere and upright ...".
(Note that "sincere" in Job is the same Hebrew word as "innocent" regarding Jacob, and is the same root as the "He was perfect" regarding Noah). Midrash Tanuchma quotes the below scriptures to show the 7 men who were born circumcised. We already saw Adam, Seth & Noach with evidence from scripture without referring to Midrash Tanuchma. First let us see the scriptures quoted by Midrash Tanuchma referring to the seven men Adam, Seth, Noach, Yaaqob, Yahusaph, Ayaob & Masha:
1) Adam: Adam was created in the likeness of Alahym and is compared to Yahusha ha Mashiyach
Gen 5:1 This is the book of the genealogy of Aḏam. In the day that Elohim created man, He made him in the likeness of Elohim.
2) Seth: Gen 5:3 And Aḏam lived one hundred and thirty years, and brought forth a son in his own likeness, after his image, and called his name Shĕth.
3) Noach: Gen 6:9 These are the generations of Noach: Noach was a just man/tsaddiq H6662 and perfect/tamiym H8549 in his generations/dor H1577, and Noach walked/halak with את eth-ELOHIYM.
4) Yaaqob: Gen 25:27 And the boys grew up. And Ěsaw became a man knowing how to hunt, a man of the field, while Yaʽaqoḇ was a perfect H8535/tam man, dwelling in tents.
5) Yahusaph: Gen37:2 These of the begetting or children/toldoth H8435 of Ya’aqob. Yoseph, a son of seventeen years, was pasturing the flock with his brothers while he was still a youth, along with the sons of Bilhah and the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives. And Yoseph brought back a bad report about them to their father.
6) Masha: Exo 2:2 And the woman conceived and bore a son. And she saw that he was a goodly/tub child, and she hid him three months.
7) Ayob: Job 1:1 There was a man in the land of Uts, whose name was Iyoḇ. And that man was perfect/tam H8535 and straight, and one who feared Elohim and turned aside from evil.
We have no dispute on men Yaaqob, Yahusaph & Masha as they were all born post Abraham receiving the sign of the covenant i.e. circumcison and we have scripture confirming Yitshaq being circumcised.
Gen 21:4 And Aḇraham circumcised his son Yitsḥaq when he was eight days old, as Elohim had commanded him.
Gen 21:5 And Aḇraham was one hundred years old when his son Yitsḥaq was born to him.
Yaaqob was the direct son of Yitshaq and Yahusaph a direct son of Yaaqob, Masha was born hundreds of years later & Ayob lived in the days of the judges, hence, we have no problem with their circumcision as traditionalists would say their fathers would have circumcised them, but we need to see evidence from scriptures on men of Yahuah before Abraham as the sign of the covenant came to Abraham. Let's start with Adam. Scripture records that Adam was made in the likeness of Alahym, we know that when it says that he was made in the likeness of Alahym, he was made in the likeness of Yahusha. This we can see when we understand that he is compared to Yahusha.
Now let's examine the scriptures closely:
Firstly except for Adam who was created from dust and not born through the womb, Seth who was born in the likeness of his father Adam after his image, Noach and Masha in a time of great distress which we will see in a bit we don't have a direct evidence of these men being born circumcised expect for a closer view and the circumstances in which they were born
1) Adam: Adam was created in the likeness of Alahym and is compared to Yahusha ha Mashiyach
Gen 5:1 This is the book of the genealogy of Aḏam. In the day that Elohim created man, He made him in the likeness of Elohim.
Gen 5:2 Male and female He created them, and He blessed them, and called their name ‘Aḏam’ in the day they were created.
Adam compared as a type of Him who was to come:
Rom 5:14 But death reigned from Aḏam until Mosheh, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Aḏam, who is a type of Him who was to come.
1Co 15:45 And so it has been written, “The first man Aḏam became a living being,” the last Aḏam a life-giving Spirit.
1Co 15:46 The spiritual, however, was not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual.
1Co 15:47 The first man was of the earth, earthy; the second Man is the Master from heaven.
1Co 15:48 As is the earthy, so also are those who are earthy; and as is the heavenly, so also are those who are heavenly.
1Co 15:49 And as we have borne the likeness of the earthy, we shall also bear the likeness of the heavenly.
Adam was the earthy man and Mashiyach the heavenly man and we have scripture recording Mashiyach being circumcised the 8th day according to Torah, hence, if Adam was the type of Him who was to come, he had to be circumcised in the flesh.
Luk 2:21 And when eight days were completed for Him to be circumcised, His Name was called יהושע, the Name given by the messenger before He was conceived in the womb.
2) Seth:
Gen 5:3 And Aḏam lived one hundred and thirty years, and brought forth a son in his own likeness, after his image, and called his name Shĕth.
When Hebel was killed we have scripture recording in Gen 5:3 that Adam brought forth a son in his OWN LIKENESS AFTER HIS IMAGE and called his name Seth/H8352.
Seth H8352 substituted comes from H7896 which also means make/mark/put on
A mark was placed on him which points to the covenant of circumcision which was on Adam when he was created. When we in Adam being circumcised in the flesh are compared to be in Mashiyach when our the body of the flesh is put away, Shaul mentions 'by the circumcision of Mashiyach' to show that we are now aligned to the heavenly man's circumcision.
Col 2:10 and you have been made complete in Him, who is the Head of all principality and authority.
Col 2:11 In Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, in the putting off of the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Messiah,
3) Noach:
Gen 6:8 But Noach found favour/chan H2580 in the eyes of YAHUAH.
Gen 6:9 These are the generations of Noach: Noach was a just man/tsaddiq H6662 and perfect/tamiym H8549 in his generations/dor H1577, and Noach walked/halak with את eth-ELOHIYM.
Scripture says that Noach found favour in the eyes of Yahuah and he was a just man and perfect in his generation and he walked with Alahym. One cannot walk in perfectness with Alahym without being in His covenant
Gen 5:29 and called his name Noaḥ, saying, “This one does comfort/nacham H5162 us from/ H4480 man our work/masenu H4639 and from/man H4480 the pain/labor of our hands, because of the ground/adamah H127 which יהוה has bitterly cursed.”
The Abary word H4482 man comes from a similar word H4482 which is translated as stringed instruments
Psa 150:4 Praise Him with tambourine and dance; Praise Him with stringed instruments/man H4482 and flutes!
H4482 is also translated as 'the same' in the context of bringing back His people from the depths of the sea. 'and the tongue of your dogs in the same' is a reference of Yahuah's enemies being subdued/avenged just as Ahab the wicked king was. Man/H4482 translated as 'the same' is tied up to a work, and its a work of Yahuah just as the stringed instrument makes beautiful music to Yahuah
Ps 68:22 My Adon (Master) said, I shall bring them back from Bashan. I shall bring them back from the depths of the sea;
Psa 68:23 That your foot may be dipped in the blood of your enemies, and the tongue of your dogs in the same/man H4482.
1Ki 22:37 So the king/Ahab died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria.
38 And one washed the chariot in the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood; and they washed his armour; according unto the word of the Yahuah which he spake.
Noach would comfort the labor/work of the hands of men, an indication of salvation by His hands work, a circumcision made without hands by the circumcision of Mashiyach the seed to whom the promises would be made to Abraham who would receive the sign of the covenant, a token in the flesh
The same/man H4482 indicates a previous incident/work.
There is further proof, Abraham was 99 years old, the year of his circumcision when Yahuah appeared to him and told him to walk before Him and be perfect
Gen 17:1 And it came to be when Aḇram was ninety-nine years old, that יהוה appeared to Aḇram and said to him, “I am Ěl Shaddai – walk/halak H1980 before Me and be perfect/tamiym H8549
And we read in Gen 6:9 that Noach was a just man perfect in his generation and he walked with Alahym. How else would he walk perfectly with Alahym without being circumcised.
4) Yaaqob: Gen 25:27 And the boys grew up. And Ěsaw became a man knowing how to hunt, a man of the field, while Yaʽaqoḇ was a perfect H8535/tam man, dwelling in tents.
There is no proof that Yaaqob was born circumcised as Adam, Seth & Noach,we already saw that he was born after the sign of the covenant a token given to Abraham.
Yahusaph/Yoseph was the one Yaaqob loved for he was like Yaaqob, and about Yaaqob it says he was a perfect/tam man living in the tents. Again Yahusaph was the son of Yaaqob and born after the token was given to Abraham.
6) Masha:Exo 2:2 And the woman conceived and bore a son. And she saw that he was a goodly/tub child, and she hid him three months.
Acts7:20 At this time Mosheh was born, and he was well-pleasing/tub to Elohim, and he was reared three months in the house of his father
Heb11:23 By faith, Mosheh was hidden by his parents for three months after having been born, because they saw that he was a well pleasing/tob child, and they were not afraid of the presence of the king’s command.
Stephen in is final narrative to the Yerushalayim council 'he was well pleasing to Alahym'
So according to that lacking a foreskin was already viewed as a sign of set apartness, and thus there would be no reason to think that others hadn't picked up on that and sought to imitate it.
Gen 6:9 This is the genealogy of Noaḥ. Noaḥ was a righteous man, perfect/tamiym in his generations. Noaḥ walked with Elohim.
Why is Noah’s name repeated three times in this single verse? Because he was one of the three men privileged to experience three changes that occurred in the world. The three were Noah, Daniel, and Ayob. Noah saw the world inhabited, he witnessed its destruction, and finally he beheld it re-inhabited. Daniel saw the first Temple intact, he beheld its destruction, and then he witnessed the erection of the second Temple. Ayob saw his household established, he beheld its destruction, and he finally witnessed its reestablishment. That's why when speaking of judgment on Alahym's people Yahuah mentions these 3 men who saw the former destruction and the re-establishment of Yahuah's favor
Eze 14:14 even though these three men, Noaḥ, Dani’ĕl, and Iyoḇ, were in it, they would deliver only themselves by their righteousness,” declares the Master יהוה.
7) Ayob:
Job 1:1 There was a man in the land of Uts, whose name was Iyoḇ. And that man was perfect and straight, and one who feared Elohim and turned aside from evil.
Lam 4:21 Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Eḏom, You who dwell in the land of Uts! The cup is to pass over to you too, So that you become drunk and make yourself naked.
Lamentations 4:21 suggests that Uts was in Edom but a closer look shows Edom's dwelling was in the land of Uts and not vice versa.
Job 1:6 And the day came to be that the sons of Elohim came to present themselves before יהוה, and Satan also came among them.
Job 1:7 And יהוה said to Satan, “From where do you come?” And Satan answered יהוה and said, “From diligently searching in the earth/arets, and from walking up and down in it.”
Job 1:8 And יהוה said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Iyoḇ, that there is none like him on the earth/arets, a perfect/tam H8535 and straight man, one who fears Elohim and turns aside from evil?”
We saw arets H776 translated as earth also means country, field, ground, land
Corporate form of worship only occurred after Torah came in, in the land of Yasharal. Ayob had seven sons and three daughters
Job 1:2 And seven sons and three daughters were born to him.
Job 1:4 And his sons went and had a feast in the house of each on his day, and sent and invited their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.
Seven sons had feast in the house of each on his day, this could be the feast of Unleavened Bread as this feast lasts 7 days. It couldn't be Sukkoth as they had the feast IN THE HOUSE and Sukkoth 7 days feast is celebrated in BOOTHS and not in the HOUSE.
Ayob was not a part of their feasts, while its not clear where this Corporate worship happened where Shatan came into, we get a clue from Job 1:7 that the land which Shatan walked was Yasharal in which Ayob lived and the very next verse Yahuah asks Shatan whether he has considered His servant Job and that there was none like him in the LAND.
Job 1:7 And יהוה said to Satan, “From where do you come?” And Satan answered יהוה and said, “From diligently searching in the earth/H776, and from walking up and down in it.”
Job 1:8 And יהוה said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Iyoḇ, that there is none like him on the land/arets H776, a perfect and straight man, one who fears Elohim and turns aside from evil?”
Job 1:3 says he was one of the greatest men of the east
Job 1:3 And his possessions were seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred female donkeys, and a very large body of servants, so that this man was the greatest of all the people of the East.
Number two Ayob after the feast would set apart his sons and daughters and offer sacrifices for them which shows an observance of Torah. Corporate form of worship only happened when Torah came in with the instructions for qodesh/set apart convocations. Ayob staying away from this kind of worship clearly shows that the form of worship at the Corporate gathering and observed by his sons and daughters were not in the way it was delivered according to Torah, or else he why would he fear that his sons and daughters may have sinned in the hearts and cursed Aluahym if they were doing it in the right way? Somewhere something was wrong as Shatan came among the sons of Aluahym.
Because the men who came in Corporate worship , they are called sons of Aluahym It couldn't be Esau's seed as he was cast out of the kingdom of Yahuah when he sold his birthright to Yaaqob
The book of Hebrews records Esau as being one who whores, profane, who for a single meal sold his birthright and when he knew what he lost he sought repentance through tears but did not find it as he was not elected by favor.
Heb 12:16 lest there be anyone who whores, or profane one, like Ěsaw, who for a single meal sold his birthright.
Heb 12:17 For you know that afterward, when he wished to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought it with tears.
Ayob's wife whose name is not mentioned asked him to curse Aluahym and die. No Yahudite would ever think or say this, unless he/she knew Torah
Job 2:9 And his wife said to him, “Do you still hold fast to your integrity? Curse Elohim and die!”
Here is the Torah portion:
Lev 24:13 And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying,
Lev 24:14 “Bring the one who has cursed outside the camp, and all those who heard him shall lay their hands on his head, and all the congregation shall stone him.
Lev 24:15 “And speak to the children of Yisra’ĕl, saying, ‘Anyone who curses his Elohim shall bear his sin.
Lev 24:16 ‘And he who blasphemes the Name of יהוה shall certainly be put to death, and all the congregation certainly stone him, the stranger as well as the native. When he blasphemes the Name, he is put to death.
When we see Shatan telling Yahuah that he went to and fro the land/arets we must understand that Shatan was not roaming around the world as the whole world lies under his regime but what he meant was he was roaming around the land/arets of Yasharal and the parts where the worship pattern as per Torah was on the way towards apostasy. In the messages to the seven assemblies Yahusha gives instructions to all 7 seven assemblies out of which 5 were heading away from what was taught to them while they retained some form of true worship
Job 1:8 And יהוה said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Iyoḇ, that there is none like him in the land/arets, a perfect and straight man, one who fears Elohim and turns aside from evil?”
If you notice Yahuah commends Ayob as a perfect and straight man who no one else could be compared to and one who fears Aluahym and turns aside from evil. Turning aside from evil is seen from the fact that Ayob did not indulge in the Corporate worship which was heading towards apostasy whereas his children were very much part of it which can be seen from the feasting of his sons and daughters as he knew that there was an evil dabar being followed (not as per Torah) and hence Shatan came among them and Yahuah was still there in that form of worship just as the 5 assemblies who were part of the 7 candlesticks amongst whom Yahusha ha Mashiyach walked.
Corporate worship happened in the land of Yasharal, thus placing Ayob post Torah being given and hence we have no dispute of him being circumcised. The geographical location of the Corporate worship is not mentioned. I see the land of Yasharal as the only possibility to be true because Shatan only walked the land of Yasharal pushing them into weakening, Hence, its evident Shatan knew Ayob as he walked the lands where there was worship of Yahuah happening
Job 1:9 Then Satan answered את eth-YAHUAH, and said, Does Iyob fear ELOHIYM for nought?
Job 1:10 Have not you made את eth a hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he has on every side? you have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.
Furthermore, while scripture is silent on Ayob's wife and childrens names, but one thing is clear that his wife and children now were beyond his influence of getting them back to the true form of worship, we can see the affliction was a part of Yahuah's plan of inflicting righteous judgement to make him worthy of his kingdom through suffering for his name sake.
We can see from the example of the emissary Shaul who consented to the death of Stephen and bound those of the Way in prison and persecuted the assembly in his ignorance and zeal towards carnal Torah, the Master tells ChananaYah that He would show him how much he has to suffer for His name.
Act 9:15 But the Master said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My Name before nations, sovereigns, and the children of Yisra’ĕl.
Act 9:16 “For I shall show him how much he has to suffer for My Name.”
We see the words of the emissary Yaaqob who speaks of the endurance of Ayob and the purpose of Yahuah that Yahuah is very merciful and compassionate. Who requires mercy and compassion? One who has turned away and when he is brought back, he is shown how much he has to suffer for His name.
Jas 5:11 See, we call those blessed who endure. You have heard of the endurance of Iyoḇ and saw the purpose of יהוה, that He is very sympathetic and compassionate.
The commendation of Ayob further shows there was no one else who could be compared to him as everyone else did what was right in their own eyes while Ayob lived and walked in the way of the fathers of belief. There is no evidence of him being born circumcised but since it places him post Torah era, he would have been circumcised as a baby which scriptures don't directly tell us.
Judges 21:25 In those days there was no sovereign in Yisra’ĕl – everyone did what was right in his own eyes
While scripture is silent on this its evident Ayob lived during the time when there was no king in Yasharal and everyone did what was right in his own eyes, the words that there was no one like him in all the land is evident that it was a time after the death of Yahushua/Joshua when everyone did what was right in his own eyes inspite of having the Torah.
Job 1:7 And יהוה said to Satan, “From where do you come?” And Satan answered יהוה and said, “From going to an fro/shuts H7751 the land/arets, and from walking up and down/mahtahalak in it.”
Our English translation of Job 1:7 doesn't bring out the clear picture
Shut H7751 A primitive root; properly to push forth; (but used only figuratively) to lash, that is, (the sea with oars) to row; by implication to travel: - go (about, through, to and fro), mariner, rower, run to and fro.
Halak H1980 Akin to H3212; a primitive root; to walk (in a great variety of applications, literally and figuratively): - (all) along, apace, behave (self), come, (on) continually, be conversant, depart, + be eased, enter, exercise (self), + follow, forth, forward, get, go (about, abroad, along, away, forward, on, out, up and down), + greater, grow, be wont to haunt, lead, march, X more and more, move (self), needs, on, pass (away), be at the point, quite, run (along), + send, speedily, spread, still, surely, + tale-bearer, + travel (-ler), walk (abroad, on, to and fro, up and down, to places), wander, wax, [way-] faring man, X be weak, whirl.
Shuts means figuratively to push forth, to lash as used in other 13 places in diligently searching. Through this verse we see Shatan was pushing himself forth in deceiving those in the land/arets and weakening them or whirling them/mahtahalak
The phrase to and fro is also used for Yahuah's seven ruachoth going forth through all the land seeking who would fall within his plumbline Zech 4:10
Daniel was told (Daniel 12:4) to shut the scroll and set a seal on it to the end of time and many shall run to and fro i.e. push towards knowledge diligently
Amos in his prophecy Amos 8:12 says people would push diligently/shut H7751 to seek the dabar of Yahuah but will not find it.
Hence, these words shut and halak have both a positive and negative meaning when used in context of what is being said. In this context the verse should read
Job 1:7 And YAHUAH said unto Satan, From whence come you? Then Satan answered את eth-YAHUAH, and said, From pushing forth in the land, and from weakening it.
Job 1:8 And יהוה said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Iyoḇ, that there is none like him in the land, a perfect and straight man, one who fears Elohim and turns aside from evil?”
Yahuah's eyes had already gone to and fro to seek out Ayob in the land of Yasharal to measure him by his plumbline and hence was found blameless.
The last thing in point no 2 is Shatan tells Yahuah he has placed a hedge around Ayob and everything he owns which shows he was in Yahuah's protection.
Job 1:10 Have not you made את eth a hedge/shuk H7753 about him, and about his house, and about all that he has on every side? you have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.
Shuk H7753 hedge/fence is closely related to suk/sukkah H5521 which means booth/tent/tabernacle.
Job 10:11 You have clothed me with skin and flesh, and have fenced/H7753 shuk me with bones and sinews.
In his very words Ayob says that his bones and sinews were as a fence/hedge giving him a structure. Following Torah in its detail as intended Ayob was fenced as though he was in the tent of Yahuah in Heavenly Yerushalayim, being born from above. His entire substance and family got that favor until it was taken away to chastise him. All this is proof that Ayob lived post the Torah coming in is because he obeyed Torah.
Ayob lived 140 years after his affliction and saw 4 generations, an age which was only possible before the flood
Abraham lived 175 years and he was living after the flood
Gen 25:7 And these are all the years of Aḇraham’s life which he lived: one hundred and seventy-five years.
Gen 25:8 And Aḇraham breathed his last and died in a good old age, aged and satisfied, and was gathered to his people.
Masha lived 120 years and died, this was after the flood
Deu 34:7 And Mosheh was one hundred and twenty years old when he died. His eyes were not dim nor his freshness gone.
Yahusaph lived 110 years and died and also saw Ephraim's children to a third generation, this was after the flood
Gen 50:22 And Yosĕph dwelt in Mitsrayim, he and his father’s household. And Yosĕph lived one hundred and ten years.
Gen 50:23 And Yosĕph saw Ephrayim’s children to the third generation. The children of Maḵir, son of Menashsheh, were also brought up on Yosĕph’s knees.
Some based on the age of Ayob place him in the patriarchal lineage. This can't be true as no where Ayob is mentioned in the lineage of Mashiyach. This shows he was neither from Yahusaph's nor Yahudah's lineage through whom Mashiyach came. Scripture lists lineage from Abraham through these two tribes, so he may have been from one of the other tribes. One verse of the Greek Septuagint which is not added to the inspired text quotes him as being son of Zerah one of the sons of Esau and fifth from Abraham and a successor of Balak. We can't go beyond scripture to admit this kind of belief as Esau sold his birthright and none of his descendants can be admitted in Yasharal's inheritance.
We need to go by the evidence scriptures provide.
Sign/Token of the covenant:
We saw Abraham's fathers in the days of Peleg journeyed from the east, an indication of moving away from the ways of Yahuah. Hence, they became part of the Gentiles/Guym and Abraham was born in an uncircumcised state
Gen 11:1 AND the whole earth/arets H776 was of one shapah/lip H8193, and of one speech/dabar H1697.
Gen 11:2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shin`ar; and they dwelt there.
But Yahuah had a plan for him, to make him the father of guym/gentiles i.e. the seed of Yasharal in dispersion and who had lost their way from Yahuah, to bring them back into his covenant. The token was given when Abraham made way back to where his fathers dwelt, near the summit, east of Eden, an indication that his promised seed would make their way back to the way of the fathers in Mashiyach.
Abraham dwelt at Beersheba which was a distance of 3 days journey on a donkey to the place of the summit on Mount Moriah which is Yerushalayim and this we see Yahuah proving him by asking him to offer his only son Yitshaq on the mikhpad altar
Gen 22:19 Then Aḇraham returned to his young men, and they rose up and went together to Be’ĕrsheḇa. And Aḇraham dwelt at Be’ĕrsheḇa.
The exact place where Shelemoh years later built the temple
2Ch 3:1 And Shelomoh began to build the House of יהוה at Yerushalayim on Mount Moriyah, where He appeared to his father Dawiḏ, at the place that Dawiḏ had prepared on the threshing-floor of Ornan the Yeḇusite.
Gen 22:1 And it came to be after these events that Elohim tried Aḇraham, and said to him, “Aḇraham!” And he said, “Here I am.”
Gen 22:2 And He said, “Take your son, now, your only son Yitsḥaq, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriyah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains which I command you.”
Gen 22:3 And Aḇraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Yitsḥaq his son. And he split the wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place which Elohim had commanded him.
Gen 22:4 And on the third day Aḇraham lifted his eyes and saw the place from a distance.
Notice it says on the third day Abraham lifted his eyes and saw the place from a distance.
Gen 22:9 And they came to the place which Elohim had commanded him, and Aḇraham repaired/yiben (from banah) H1129 aut/H853 the altar/ha mazbach H4196 there and placed the wood in order. And he bound Yitsḥaq his son and laid him on the altar, upon the wood.
The word yiben (yod beyt nun) means build/repair and is from the root word banah which means built/build. This was the very same place where he named it as Yahuah Yarah which means 'Yahuah will be seen', when he offered the lamb in place of his son Yitshaq.
Thus we see Abraham's journey back from Ur of Chaldees where he was born as a Gentile back to Beersheba where he dwelt and was called an Abary for he had crossed over. Moreover, Yahuah led him to the place of the Summit i.e. the mikphad altar where His Son would be offered as a Lamb to deliver the promised see Yitshaq.
Gen 14:13 And one who had escaped came and informed Aḇram the Ibriy/H5680, for he dwelt by the terebinth trees of Mamrĕ the Amorite, brother of Eshkol and brother of Anĕr, and they had a covenant with Aḇram.
Ibriy/H5680: From H5674 & H5676 Abar which means 'to cross over'/beyond/carry over
Gal 4:28 And we, brothers, as Yitsḥaq was, are children of promise.
Abraham walked with Yahuah 24 years in an uncircumcised state while his heart was circumcised (from 75 when he left his fathers house in Haran to 99 years when his name was changed to Abraham which means father of multitudes), hence, the token of the covenant was given to the Gentiles i.e. Yasharal in dispersion returning back to Yahuah through Mashiyach the promised seed who said He is not sent but to the lost sheep of the house of Yasharal.
Mat 4:15 “Land of Zeḇulun and land of Naphtali, the way of the sea, beyond the Yardĕn, Galil of the gentiles –
Mat 4:16 the people who sat in darkness saw a great light, and upon those who sat in the land and shadow of death
Mat 12:15 But יהושע, knowing it, withdrew from there. And large crowds followed Him, and He healed them all,
Mat 12:16 and warned them not to make Him known,
Mat 12:17 in order that what was spoken by Yeshayahu the prophet, might be filled, saying,
Mat 12:18 “See, My Servant whom I have chosen, My Beloved in whom My being did delight. I shall put My Spirit upon Him, and He shall declare right-ruling to the nations.
Mat 12:19 “He shall not strive nor cry out, nor shall anyone hear His voice in the streets.
Mat 12:20 “A crushed reed He shall not break, and smoking flax He shall not quench, till He brings forth right-ruling forever.
Mat 12:21 “And the Gentiles shall trust in His Name.”
Shaul shows why Abraham received the sign of circumcision a seal of righteousness
Rom 4:11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the belief while in uncircumcision, for him to be a father of all those believing through uncircumcision, for righteousness to be reckoned to them also,
Rom 4:12 and the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of the belief which our father Aḇraham had in uncircumcision.
Yahuah dispersed his fathers to bring Abraham back to be the father of all those coming back to Him through the promised seed who came forth from his loins after his circumcision.
