Yahuah dwells in Thick Darkness?

1Ki 8:12 Then spoke Shalomah, YAHUAH said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.

When Shelemoh built the house for Yahuah he said Yahuah said that he would dwell in thick darkness. Before we understand when Yahuah said that he would dwell in thick darkness, let's first understand the word thick darkness.

The Abary word for thick darkness is Strong's H6205 araphel from H6201 araph which means drip/droop which means to hang down

When did Yahuah say He would dwell in thick darkness?

When we read Exodus 19 we see Yahuah telling Masha to not let the people come close to the Mountain and Masha creates a boundary at the base of the mountain so that no beast or man could come closer and if they did they would be killed instantly. In the same chapter we read Yahuah asking Masha to go down and then come up along with Aharon but not allow the priests an people to break through to come out lest Yahuah break out against them

Exo 19:21  And יהוה said to Mosheh, “Go down, and warn the people, lest they break through unto יהוה to see, and many of them fall.

Exo 19:22  “And let the priests who come near יהוה set themselves apart too, lest יהוה break out against them.”

Exo 19:23  And Mosheh said to יהוה, “The people are not able to come up to Mount Sinai, for You warned us, saying, ‘Make a border around the mountain and set it apart.’ ”

Exo 19:24  And יהוה said to him, “Come, go down and then come up, you and Aharon with you. But do not let the priests and the people break through to come up to יהוה, lest He break out against them.”

Exo 19:25  And Mosheh went down to the people and spoke to them.

We then see the magnificent voice of Yahuah speaking the Ten Commandments directly to the people in Exo 20 and the people told Masha ''You speak with us and we hear, but let not Alahym speak with us, lest we die.” and then we see the people continue to stand afar off but Masha drew near the thick darkness where Alahym was

Exo 20:18  And all the people saw the thunders, the lightning flashes, the sound of the ram’s horn, and the mountain smoking. And the people saw it, and they trembled and stood at a distance,

Exo 20:19  and said to Mosheh, “You speak with us and we hear, but let not Elohim speak with us, lest we die.”

Exo 20:20  And Mosheh said to the people, “Do not fear, for Elohim has come to prove you, and in order that His fear be before you, so that you do not sin.”

Exo 20:21  So the people stood at a distance, but Mosheh drew near the thick darkness H6205 araphel where Elohim was.

We have parallel verses which show us this in Deu 4:10-14

Deu 4:10  “The day when you stood before יהוה your Elohim in Ḥorĕḇ, יהוה said to me, ‘Assemble the people to Me and I make them hear My Words, so that they learn to fear Me all the days they live on the earth and teach them to their children.’

Deu 4:11  “And you came near and stood at the foot of the mountain, and the mountain burned with fire to the heart of the heavens – darkness, cloud, and thick darkness H6205 araphel.

Deu 4:12  “And יהוה spoke to you out of the midst of the fire. You heard a voice of words, but saw no form, you only heard a voice.

Deu 4:13  “And He made known to you His covenant which He commanded you to do, the Ten Words, and He wrote them on two tablets of stone.

Deu 4:14  “And יהוה commanded me at that time to teach you laws and right-rulings, for you to do them in the land which you pass over to possess.

While we will revisit the word 'araphel' later let us in other places see what it says about 'thick darkness'

Deu 5:22 את eth-These words YAHUAH spoke unto all your assembly in the Mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness araphel H6205with a magnificent/gadul voice/qol H6963: and he added no more/ yasaph H3254 lo/no H3808. And he wrote them on two sapphire stones, and delivered them unto me.
Deu 5:23 And it came to pass, when ye heard את eth-the voice/qol H6963 out of the midst of the darkness, (for the mountain did burn with fire,) that ye came near unto me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders;
Deu 5:24 And ye said, Behold, YAHUAH ELOHAYNU has showed us את eth-his glory and את eth-his greatness, and we have heard את eth-his voice/qol H6963 out of the midst of the fire: we have seen this day that ELOHIYM talks את eth-with man, and he lives.
Deu 5:25 Now therefore why should we die? for this great fire will consume us: if we hear את eth-the voice of YAHUAH ELOHAYNU anymore, then we shall die.

Exodus 20:18 uses the word 'qolot' which is the plural of 'qol' and means voices.

Exo 20:18 should correctly read And all the people perceived the alpah tau voices/qolot, and the alaph tau torches/lappidym, and the alaph tau voice/qol of the ram’s horn/shophar, and the alaph tau mountain/ har smoke/ashan. And the people saw, and they moved, and stood far off.

We have studied this before that Yahuah in his magnificent voice spoke the Ten words in one go and we see the same magnificence of Yahuah's voice through the Ruach on the Day of Shavuot when the Talmidim spoke the wonderful works of Yahuah in different languages as the people from dispersion who had come to worship in Yerushalayim heard them speak in their native tongue.

The detail given by the people in Exodus 20 that He spoke with “voices/qolot,” shows us more than one voice i.e. a literal command seconded by the ruach hidden in the command.  His “magnificent voice” was, in fact, the miraculous utterance of multiple voices being emitted from a HIM at once! When He spoke the Ten Commandments, although He alone was speaking, He was supernaturally uttering more than one word at the same time! This is nothing less than the gift of tongues, a miraculous form of speech, spoken by the Creator of all tongues, Himself! As He poured His Torah into them, His Ruach used a speaking method that could not be explained, but demonstrated His own power to every single person there!

The people at Mt. Sinai couldn't bear to hear the utterance and hence they asked Masha to speak to them and not Yahuah lest they die. And Masha went into the thick darkness to get what Yahuah uttered on tablets of stone.

Psa 62:11 ELOHIYM has spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongs unto ELOHIYM.

Job 33:14 For EL speaks once, yea twice, yet man perceives it not.

The ruach ha nabua was concealed in what was spoken in one go in a magnificent/gadul voice/qol as stated in Deuteronomy 5 and 'voices/qolot' as stated in Exodus 20

2Sa 22:10  “And He bowed/natah H5186 the heavens and came down, And thick darkness H6205 araphel was under His feet.

2Sa 22:11  “And He rode upon a keruḇ, and flew, And was seen upon the wings of the wind.

2Sa 22:12  “And He put darkness around Him as booths, Darkness of waters, thick clouds.

This same word natah H5186 which means bowed down/spread/stretch out is also translated as afternoon in Judges 19:9

Jdg 19:8  And he arose early in the morning on the fifth day to go. But the young woman’s father said, “Please refresh your heart.” So they delayed until afternoon/H5186 natah yom/H3117, and both of them ate.

The verse should correctly read Jdg 19:8  And he arose early in the morning on the fifth day to go. But the young woman’s father said, “Please refresh your heart.” So they delayed until spread of the day, and both of them ate.

Now let's visit the word araphel in the pictograph in paleo Hebrew as we saw

Ar: See a man

Raph: Who heals

Pal: Plead/judged

When did the darkness cover the whole land when Yahusha was impaled?

Mat 27:45  And from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land, until the ninth hour.

Mat 27:46  And about the ninth hour יהושע cried out with a loud/gadul voice/qol, saying, “Ěli, Ěli, lemah sheḇaqtani?” that is, “My Ěl, My Ěl, why have You forsaken Me?”

Sixth hour is 12pm which is afternoon and ninth hour which is 3pm. At the 9th hour Yahusha cried with a loud voice/gadul qol and the people standing there didn't understand what He said and thought He was calling Alayahu

Mat 27:47  Some of those standing there, having heard, said, “This One calls Ěliyahu!”

Mat 27:48  And immediately one of them ran and took a sponge, and filled it with sour wine and put it on a reed, and gave it to Him to drink.

Mat 27:49  But the rest said, “Leave it, let us see if Ěliyahu comes to save Him.”

Mat 27:50  And יהושע cried out again with a loud voice, and gave up His spirit.

There were those who examined The man and were healed through the pleading and there were those who still were in the thick darkness not able to comprehend what was being said.

While there is no scripture which says Yahuah said He would dwell in thick darkness, yet the nebim prophesied that Yahuah said He would dwell in thick darkness and this they did as they were ministering unto us as we would look upon Him who was pierced (examined) and we would mourn for him as one mourns for His only Son

Joh 19:37  And again another Scripture says, “They shall look on Him whom they pierced.”

Why would Pilate say ''Behold the Man''?

John 19:5 `Yahusha came outside with the crown of thorns and purple garment upon Him. Pilatos said to them, “Behold, the Man!”

Just before Yahusha was brought before Pilate, He was clothed with a purple robe to mock Him. He was to be examined by a Roman ruler, the chief priests, priests and scribes etc and they couldn't see who He was to be healed by Him but they were

Rev1:7 Behold, He comes with the clouds/ananim, and every eye shall see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth shall mourn over Him. So it shall be. Amen.

Yahusha ascended into heaven in a cloud and the Messengers told the talmidim that the same Yahusha who ascended into heaven in a cloud/anan would come in the same manner

Ac 1:9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud/anan received him out of their sight

Acts1:10 And as they were looking after Him into the heavens while He was going, behold, two men in white clothing stood by them.

Acts1:11 They also said, “Men of the Galil, why do you stand looking into the heavens? This Yahusha, who has been taken up from you into the heavens, shall come in the same way as you saw Him go into the heaven.

Yahuah indeed came in the person of Yahusha whom we looked upon/examined to be healed by His judgment. He uttered the gadul voice as He hung on the stake and He added no more.

Deu 5:22 את eth-These words YAHUAH spoke unto all your assembly in the Mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness araphel H6205with a magnificent/gadul voice/qol H6963and he added no more/ yasaph H3254 lo/no H3808. And he wrote them on two tablets of stone, and delivered them unto me.

The word yasaph H3254 is the same root word in Yahusaph who represented the 10 tribes of Yasharal. Didn't Yahusha say that He came for the lost sheep of the house of Yasharal?

Mt 15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Yasharal.

The gadul qolot was to bring the Gentiles who were the lost sheep of the house of Yasharal represented by Yahusaph and not one will be lost or added to the chosen.

Joh 10:16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

Joh 18:9 That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none.

Lu 15:4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

Lu 15:6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.

Deut 5:22 b And he wrote them on two tablets of stone, and delivered them unto them unto me

2Cor3:7 But if the ministry of death, in letters engraved on stones, is seen with glory, so that the sons of Yisra’El are not able to look intently at the face of Mosheh because of the glory of his face which vanished away,

2Co 3:8  how much more esteemed shall the administering of the Spirit not be?

The Ruach hidden in the commands would reveal the esteem of Mashiyach, showing us who He is.

Zep 1:14  Near is the great day of יהוה, near and hurrying greatly, the voice/qol H6963 of the day/yom H3117 of יהוה. Let the mighty man then bitterly cry out!

Zep 1:15  That day is a day of outburst of passion/ H5678 ebrah, a day of distress and trouble, a day of waste and ruin, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds/anan H6051 and thick darkness/araphel H6205,

The word ebrah H5678 comes from the root word eber H5674, H5675 & H5676 which means to cross over/pass over/transition. The time Mashiyach died was the day which the nebim spoke about as it was a day of decision where the remnant would cross over to Mashiyach while the rest of Yasharal would cross over to the darkness as they wouldn't be able to see the One who was pierced. The Mighty man who bitterly cried out was Yahusha ha Mashiyach with the voice of Yahuah which none around Him understood.

Yahusha claimed He was the Light and Yahuchanan testified that the darkness could not covertake the Light (John 1:5). This thick darkness existed when the earth was without form and the darkness covered the face of the deep, when Yahuah said ''Let there be Light and there was light'' Gen 1:3 and Shaul tells us in 2 Corin 4:6 what that Light means

2Co 4:6  For Elohim, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts for the enlightening of the knowledge of the esteem of Elohim in the face of יהושע Messiah.

Speaking of Mashiyach and coming to Him, the emissary says You have not drawn to a mountain touched and scorched with fire and to blackness/chosek and thick darkness/araphel and storm but to Mt Tysion, to the city of Alahym, Yerushalayim that is in the heavens.

Heb 12:18  For you have not drawn near to a mountain touched and scorched with fire, and to blackness, and thick darkness/araphel and storm,

Heb12:19 and not to the sound of a trumpet and to the voice/qol of words/dabarim, so that those who hear it begged that the word/dabar should not be added/yusayaph (rooted in Yahusaph) to speak to them anymore.

Heb12:20 For they could not bear what is commanded, if even a beast touches the mountain, it shall be stoned with a stone or shot through with an arrow.

Heb12:21 And the appearance was very much fearful, that Mosheh said, I am terrified and trembling.

Heb12:22 But you have come to Mount Tsion and to the city of the living Elohim, to Yerushalam that is in the heavens

Heb12:23 and to the congregations of myriads of messengers, and the assembly of the firstborn who are written in the heavens, and to Elohim, the Judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect

Heb12:24 and to Yahusha, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of the blood of Habel.

The emissary warns not to refuse Him who spoke from heaven, for they did not escape who refused the warning on earth. The Speaker is One and the same. The only difference was when He came down on Mt Sinai, the people were told to stand afar off lest they die, for the time to examine Yahuah was not yet (araphel) until He would manifest in the flesh.

Heb 12:25  Take heed not to refuse the One speaking. For if those did not escape who refused the warning on earth, much less we who turn away from Him from heaven,

Heb 12:26  whose voice shook the earth then, but now He has promised, saying, “Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also the heaven.”

Heb 12:27  And this, “Yet once more,” makes clear the removal of what is shaken – as having been made – so that the unshaken matters might remain.

Heb 12:28  Therefore, receiving an unshakeable reign, let us hold the favour, through which we serve Elohim pleasingly with reverence and awe,

Heb 12:29  for indeed, our Elohim is a consuming fire

When He rose from the dead, He asked His talmidim to examine His wounds. Thoma was missing and when Yahusha appeared to him, what did Thoma confess?

Joh 20:19  When therefore it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were shut where the taught ones met, for fear of the Yehuḏim, יהושע came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace to you.”

Joh 20:20  And having said this, He showed them His hands and His side. The taught ones therefore rejoiced when they saw the Master.

Joh 20:24  But T’oma, called the Twin, one of the twelve, was not with them when יהושע came,

Joh 20:25  so the other taught ones said to him, “We have seen the Master.” But he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the mark of the nails, and put my finger into the imprint of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I shall by no means believe.”

Joh 20:26  And after eight days His taught ones were again inside, and T’oma with them. יהושע came, the doors having been shut, and He stood in the midst, and said, “Peace to you!”

Joh 20:27  Then He said to T’oma, “Bring your finger here, and see My hands. And bring your hand and put it into My side – and do not be unbelieving, but believing.”

Joh 20:28  And T’oma answered and said to Him, “My ADON and my Elohim

Scriptures have a deep spiritual meaning hidden in them and the scriptures testify of Yahusha ha Mashiyach and esteem Him as Yahuah who was manifest both on Mt Sinai as well as in the flesh when He was impaled on Mt of Olives which was to the east of Eden.
