The generations trampling the outer court and the ones within the court

Mat 1:17  So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Messiah are fourteen generations.

When we read the genealogy mentioned in the book of Matthew, Matthew begins the gospel showing that the Messiah came through Abraham with whom Alahim made Covenant with. Since Yahusha is the Aleph Tav, is pre-eminint and who said "....Before Abraham was, I am." (John 5:58),he is the one that was the promised one and the one the fathers looked out for.

Mt 1:1 ¶ The book of the generation of Yahusha the Messiah, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
 2 Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;

The entire lineage right until Jospeh is tied to Abraham.

Yahusha's genealogy is given in two places in Scripture i.e. Matthew 1 and Luke 3:23-38. Matthew traces the genealogy from Yahusha to Abraham. Luke traces the genealogy from Yahusha to Adam. Matthew and Luke are in fact tracing entirely different genealogies. For example, Matthew gives Joseph's father as Jacob (Matthew 1:16), while Luke gives Joseph's father as Heli (Luke 3:23). Matthew traces the line through David's son Solomon (Matthew 1:6), while Luke traces the line through David's son Nathan (Luke 3:31).

There is proof that the genealogy in Luke 3 is actually the genealogy of Mary and not Joseph. Notice the words translated as 'as was supposed'

Lu 3:23 And Yahusha himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,

UIOS = son, WS = as, NOMIZO = it was being opined/to be held by custom.

What does this mean? Joseph was the son in law of Heli and not his son and hence Luke records it as 'as was supposed' which means ' son as it was being opined/son as it was held by custom'. Both the genealogies though differ due to different lineage the father with whom the covenant was made is Abraham.

Luke 3:34 Which was the son of Jacob, which was the son of Isaac, which was the son of Abraham, which was the son of Thara, which was the son of Nachor,

Therefore it's important that we examine the generations in spiritual counting that Matthew gives us in Matt 1:17

Let’s begin by examining all the three generations 1) from Abraham to David 2) David until carrying away to Babylon & 3) Babylon to the Messiah

1  1)    Abraham to David: Both Abraham and David were righteous men of Alahim and though there were both righteous and wicked men who came out from their loins these 14 generations from Abraham to David are viewed as generations sojourning with Yahuah. That’s because Alahim preserved the righteous seed throughout these generations to set up the tabernacle of David from the sojourning which began from Abraham who was called out of Ur of the Chaldees through Yisrael’s captivity in Egypt and the wilderness journey living in tents.

Heb 11:9 By faith he (Abraham) sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:

And from Yisrael’s entering to the Promised Land right until David (Daud) who set up the tabernacle of David i.e. of ceremonial worship through Psalms & musical instruments.

2Ch 7:6 And the priests waited on their offices: the Levites also with instruments of musick of Yahuah, which David the king had made to praise Yahuah, because his mercy endureth for ever, when David praised by their ministry; and the priests sounded trumpets before them, and all Israel stood.

We have 2 Chronicles 7:6 recording that David praised Yahuah by the ministry of the Levites which he set in order. Hence the fourteen generations from Abraham to David speaks of ‘Sojourning in a strange land’ because along with these generations Yahuah sojourned with them in tents.

In 2 Ch 7 we read of Solomon, the son of David (from the 15th generation i.e. after David) who built a house to Yahuah and when he consecrated the temple, Yahuah filled the house with his glory. Hence the number 15 shows us a journey from the tent to a resting place for Yahuah and his people.

2Sa 7:1 ¶ And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house, and Yahuah had given him rest round about from all his enemies;
2 That the king (David) said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of cedar, but the ark of Alahim dwelleth within curtains.

2Sa 11:11 And Uriah said unto David, The ark, and Israel, and Judah, abide in tents; and my lord Joab, and the servants of my lord, are encamped in the open fields; shall I then go into mine house, to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife? as thou livest, and as thy soul liveth, I will not do this thing.

2)David to Babylonian captivity: The 2nd category in Matthew 1:17 are the 14 generations from David to captivity in Babylon. These are the generations which started back sliding as they couldn’t sustain being under the ordinances because they couldn’t understand the spiritual in the letter. Their carnality led them to rebel against Yahuah who handed them over to captivity under the rule of Nebudchanazzer king of Babylon. Thus Yahuah put them back into the tents in sojourning and Yisrael observed their Sabbaths in desolation. Again from these generations Yahuah preserved the righteous, even in captivity.

2Ch 36:20 And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia:
21 To fulfil the word of Yahuah by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years.

This 15th generation shows a victory from captivity to Yisrael as this generation led by the leadership of Ezra and Nehemiah rebuilt the temple which was fallen down during the reign of the king of Persia as prophesied.

Each generation is of 70 years and if by reason of strength they are 80 years. If you see there is no specific listing from Adam to Noah by Matthew because Matthew was tying the generations to Abraham as the starting point in Alahim's covenant.

Mt 1:1 ¶ The book of the generation of Yahusha the Messiah the son of David, the son of Abraham.

The counting begins from Abraham as he was promised that through him the Messiah would be born. Luke goes back to Adam who came from dust to show that the Messiah who is the son of Alahim took upon himself likeness of sinful flesh.

Since the Messiah is firstborn over all creation (Col 1:15) and the promised one, the generations spiritual father is Abraham as Alahim made the Covenant with him. Hence all generations from Adam would come under Abraham in a covenant relationship with Alahim because Yahuah made an everlasting covenant with Abraham.

Ga 3:7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.

Ga 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Messiah.17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of Alahim in Messiah, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.

You may refer to my study on this blog 'The purpose of Genealogies' to understand the purpose

Coming back to these 70 and 80 years, they have deep spiritual meaning in them and I request the reader to read the study on my blog ‘Teach us to number our days’ where the 70 and 80 speak of mankind’s vanity and the hope of deliverance from captivity by our Savior Yahusha.

Ps 90:10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

Alahim registers a 'spiritual language' in his word and opens the eyes of those whom he has chosen to draw near to him to understand that spiritual language. The rest who are not chosen trample the outer court by interpreting his word carnally.

The house of Jacob went into the land of Egypt when the great famine came across the entire world and Alahim shows us that the number of the house of Jacob which came into Egypt were threescore and ten/seventy.

This can't be a concidence can it? Let's look at some more scriptures.

De 10:22 Thy fathers went down into Egypt with threescore and ten persons; and now Yahuah thy Alahim hath made thee as the stars of heaven for multitude.

Zec 1:12 Then the angel of the Yahuah answered and said, O Yahuah of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years?

In the message to the seven churches Messiah speaks to Smyrna that they shall have tribulation ten days. The message was to all the SEVEN CHURCHES as Messiah's elect were in all of these churches and promise of the crown of life to all elect. Hence Seven * ten days of tribulation  =70

Re 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

The entire body comprised of wheat and tares and the wheat and the tares separated in the end.

These numbers in the 70 and 80 years also show us Satan’s beastly rules throughout time when Yahuah’s people were afflicted and oppressed under these wicked rules.

Re 17:10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.

3) From Babylonian captivity to Messiah:

The 3rd category of 14 generations (from Matthew 1:17) is from the Babylonian captivity until Messiah when Yisrael now lived in the letter, not having learnt what sojourning means even from admonishment which Yahuah took their fathers through. The end of these 14 generations brings us to Yahusha (the 15th generation) who rebuilds the tabernacle of David which was fallen down. (Not that he restores the ceremonial worship through Levites and musical instruments but a spiritual house built unto Alahim which is everlasting). There is no more counting after Messiah as he is the temple and he is the altar and all are measured unto him. He is the last Adam and we all stand complete in him.

Col_2:10  And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

Ac 15:14 Simeon hath declared how Alahim at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.
15 And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,
16 After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:
17 That the residue of men might seek after Yahuah, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith Yahuah who doeth all these things.
18 Known unto Alahim are all his works from the beginning of the world.

1Pe 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to Alahim by Yahusha the Messiah.

It’s interesting to see that in all these  3 * 14 generations that were raised by Yahuah, he gathered a people unto himself. Yisrael of Alahim which learnt to sojourn with him just as their father Abraham. While the rest 3*14 =42 trampled the outer court not bearing the reproach of Messiah.

Re 11:2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

All this while we have been only looking at the 42 months in respect to the heathen trampling the outer court. We must also see that during this 42 months the elect were measured into the temple. The 3 parts of 14 generations from Abraham to David, David to Babylon and Babylon to Messiah is a journey to Messiah through living in tents.

Ge 9:27 Alahim shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

Japheth was the father of Gentiles and Shem the father of the Jews. Yahuah fulfilled this prophecy in getting his people into the temple in these 3*14 generations.
Messiahis the 15th generation i.e THE TABERNACLE COMPLETE.

A few scriptures to show the sojourning of Alahim’s people in the number 14 and saw no deliverance but saw the promise afar off.

Heb 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

Gen 31:41  Thus have I been twenty years in thy house; I served thee fourteen years for thy two daughters, and six years for thy cattle: and thou hast changed my wages ten times

Jacob served for Leah and Rachel (from whom came the 12 tribes of Yisrael) for 14 years and 10 times his wages were changed. The number 10 ties up to ‘Yod’ which is the hand of Yahuah which designed this.

He served an additional of 6 years for Laban's cattle and the number six here shows the work of man in vanity.

Ezekiel is asked to show Yisrael the pattern so that they be ashamed of their iniquities. He is shown the altar of sacrifice.

Eze 43:10 Thou son of man, shew the house to the house of Israel, that they may be ashamed of their iniquities: and let them measure the pattern.

Eze 43:11 And if they be ashamed of all that they have done, shew them the form of the house, and the fashion thereof, and the goings out thereof, and the comings in thereof, and all the forms thereof, and all the ordinances thereof, and all the forms thereof, and all the laws thereof: and write it in their sight, that they may keep the whole form thereof, and all the ordinances thereof, and do them.

Ezekiel is shown the dimensions of the altar. We know that the altar stands for Yahusha who offered himself as a sacrifice for our sins. He is the pattern.

Eze 43:16 And the altar shall be twelve cubits long, twelve broad, square in the four squares thereof.

The altar shall be 12 cubits long and 12 cubits broad. The number 12 speaks of all of Alahim’s people gathered in him and their lives are hid in him. Now look at the court around the altar.

Eze 43:17 And the settle (court around the altar) shall be fourteen cubits long and fourteen broad in the four squares thereof; and the border about it shall be half a cubit; and the bottom thereof shall be a cubit about; and his stairs shall look toward the east.

From the number 14 we see the number 14 as the court where his people occupy around the altar. His people are measured into the temple. The number 4 is to show that they come in from the ends of the earth.

Ex 27:1 ¶ And thou shalt make an altar of shittim wood, five cubits long, and five cubits broad; the altar shall be foursquare: and the height thereof shall be three cubits.

The number 15 (5 long and broad *3 cubits height) can be seen in the altar which Moses was asked to make as per the pattern shown to him with the four square altar, the number 4 showing that the gathering to the altar is from the ends of the earth. The number 15 shows the Messiah as the altar complete who delivers his people.

In difference to the sacrifice altar Moses was shown to make, Ezekiel was shown the altar to be 12 cubits long and broad with the 4 squares again, the number 4 speaks of the gathering from the ends of the earth.

The number 12 is the number for the people of Alahim and the number 15 the generation of the righteous who are triumphant because the Messiah delivers them. Alahim uses 2 different numbers with the same dimensions to show who he is gathering in. He also shows us who is around the altar with the number 14. Remember we are called to be a royal priesthood.

1Pe 2:9  But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
1Pe 2:10  Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of Alahim: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

John was given a reed like unto a rod and was asked to MEASURE the temple, the altar and them that worship therein.

Rev 11:1  And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of Alahimand the altar, and them that worship therein.
Rev 11:2  But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

We just measured the altar and those worshiping around it using the rod given to us which is the wisdom of Yahusha.

Exo 12:5  Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
Exo 12:6  And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.

We just measured the temple of Alahim i.e is Yahusha who is Yahuah tabernacled with us in flesh. He is our Passover lamb who gave himself on the altar.

Gen 7:20  Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered.

The waters of the wrath of Yahuah destroyed everything that had breath in it and the waters rose up 15 cubits. Noah and those with him in the ark stood on the surface above the waters of wrath as they found grace and favor from Yahuah.

Rev 15:2  And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of Alahim.
Rev 15:3  And they sing the song of Moses the servant of Alahim, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Yahuah Alahim Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.

John saw the elect stand on the sea of glass mingled with fire which is the same as Noah and those in the ark standing above the 15 cubits water that prevailed over the earth. The elect overcame the beast, his image, his mark and the number of his name.

Re 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Lev 23:4  These are the feasts of Yahuah even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.
Lev 23:5  In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is Yahuah’s passover.
Lev 23:6  And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto Yahuah: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.

1Co 5:7  Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavenedFor even Messiah our passover is sacrificed for us:
1Co 5:8  Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

The context of 1 Corin 5 passages is the leaven of sin within the church that a man in the Corinthian church took his father’s wife just as Reuben had for which he did not excel being the firstborn son.

Ge 49:3 Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power:
Gen 49:4 Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father's bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.

Paul is showing that we are a NEW LUMP just as the Unleavened bread so we must keep the feast of Passover in sincerity and truth. The Unleavened bread feast was held on the FIFTEENTH day of the same month Passover was celebrated. Messiah and his firstfruits who are gathered to him.

Jas 1:18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

Ro 8:23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

Le 23:34 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto Yahuah.

The feast of tabernacles was a fulfillment of the living in tents/booths and this feast stands symbolic of the end of our sojourning when we will enter Heavenly Yerusalem.

The 14 and the 15 in the reign of Chizqiyahu (Hezekiah):

The name Chizqiyahu is a translated name from Hebrew. In Hebrew his name is ‘Chizqiyahu’ which means ‘strengthened of Yah’.

Chizqiyahu was a descendent of Daud (David) and was righteous before Yahuah. He is a picture of the ‘elect’ who make it through the Great Tribulation, an overcoming of death.

2Ki 18:1 ¶ Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Chizqiyahu the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.
2 Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Abi, the daughter of Zachariah.
3 And he did that which was right in the sight of Yahuah, according to all that David his father did.

Chizqiyahu reigned 29 years in Yerushalaim and the 14 years of his reign shows his sojourning in affliction and then the golden 15 years.

Isa 36:1 ¶ Now it came to pass in the fourteenth year of king Chizqiyahu, that Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the defenced (fenced) cities of Judah, and took them.

During the FOURTEENTH year of his reign the king of Assyria came against all the defense/fortified cities of Yahudah. Though he was spared by the mercy of Yahuah from being taken captive by the Assyrian king yet he lived in fear and under subjection & affliction of the king of Assyria.

2Ki 18:9 ¶ And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Chizqiyahu, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it.
10 And at the end of three years they took it: even in the sixth year of Chizqiyahu, that is the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.
11 And the king of Assyria did carry away Israel unto Assyria, and put them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes:

In the 6th year of his reign Yisrael was carried captive to Assyria. A parallel account to Isaiah 36 is recorded in 2 Kings 18. 2 Kings 18 gives us an additional information. He gave the king of Assyria all the silver from the house of Yahuah and cut off the gold from the doors of the temple of Yahuah and gave it to him.

2Ki 18:13 Now in the fourteenth year of king Chizqiyahu did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fenced cities of Judah, and took them.
14 And Chizqiyahu king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, I have offended; return from me: that which thou puttest on me will I bear. And the king of Assyria appointed unto Chizqiyahu king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.
15 And Chizqiyahu gave him all the silver that was found in the house of Yahuah, and in the treasures of the king's house.
16 At that time did Chizqiyahu cut off the gold from the doors of the temple of the Yahuah, and from the pillars which Chizqiyahu king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.
17 ¶ And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rabsaris and Rabshakeh from Lachish to king Chizqiyahu with a great host against Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fuller's field.

Inspite of this the king of Assyria sent Rabshakeh to threaten him of captivity and he cried out to Yahuah to help him and Yahuah heard him and did not allow him to be taken captive by Assyria where Yisrael was but he did not go unpunished? After all he had stripped the temple of Yahuah from silver and gold and gave it to the king of Assyria.

Moreover Chronicles records that he was lifted up in pride of his heart (in his golden years which shows man doesn't learn from the admonishments and can slip back) but later humbled himself before Yahuah and therefore the evil did not come upon him or Yerushalim in his days.

2Ch 32:25 But Hezekiah rendered not again according to the benefit done unto him; for his heart was lifted up: therefore there was wrath upon him, and upon Judah and Jerusalem.
26 Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of Yahuah came not upon them in the days of Hezekiah.

With this evidence of the 14 and the 15 in the 29 years of Chizqiyahu’s righteous reign, the 14 years were under the fear of king of Assyria and the 15 years of a buy back from death by the mercies of Yahuah.

2Ki 20:6 And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.

Chizqiyahu asked a sign from Yahuah and he was given a sign to ask whether he wants the shadow to go down ten degrees or backward and he asked a difficult thing from Yahuah. He asked the shadow to go backward ten degrees.

2Ki 20:10 And Chizqiyahu answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees.

While there is no direct cross reference to any other scripture to find out what this sign means, hence we must see this in the light of Messiah from what we saw in the 14 and the 15. Moreover the number ten (in ten degrees) shows that from the hand ( ‘Yod’ ) comes a deliverance who would wipe away all tears of affliction from the eyes of the elect.

Re 21:4 And Alahim shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Taking the shadow ten degrees backward is a picture of wiping off the vanity of man in himself. While it seems that Chizqiyahu had a choice and he made a choice to his benefit we must not forget that Yahuah is Sovereign and he is in control of the choices and decision man makes.

Act 17:26  And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

Matthew shows us Hezekiah was the son of David, the son of Abraham and Alahim through his rule paints spiritual picture of a righteous generation who has triumphed in the Messiah.

Matthew 1:10 And Ezekias (Hezekiah) begat Manasses; and Manasses begat Amon; and Amon begat Josias;

In conclusion it’s comforting to understand that the elect are measured around the altar in the court while the altar is Messiah himself. Alahim shows from his word who he has measured unto himself and who are measured out to trample in the outer court. Everything begins with Messiah and ends with Messiah. He is pre-eminent in all things. The sojourners are gathered around the altar while the wanderers are trampling the outer court.
