Hebraic roots or Greek culture-Part 2

In our previous study Hebraic roots or Greek culture-Part 1 we saw Noach's sons Shem, Ham Japheth populating the whole world and we saw who their descendants were.
With the Gentiles coming into the kingdom we saw the fulfillment of Japheth (father of Gentiles) coming into the tents of Shem .
We saw the besorah (gospel) go out in different languages and on the day of Pentecost. These Jews were surprised and were in doubt. They doubted because Alahim had never spoken to them but through the Hebrew by the mouth of the prophets and here they were hearing the wonderful works of Alahim in their own languages.

There is no doubt that the wonderful works of Alahim was heard in different tongues. But does that mean that now names, feasts, ordinances (I'm speaking of the spiritual observance and not literal) etc would change with believers now adapting the customs of the world by worshiping Alahim in their own way?

We saw Yahusha told the Samaritan woman that salvation is of the Jews. This is not speaking of a literal seed of Abraham but the spiritual seed i.e. those who believe in the Messiah are counted as spiritual Jews.

John 4:22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

The message of the cross did go out in different languages but as per the words of the Messiah salvation is of the Jews. This means that the Gentiles coming back to the tents of Shem are the spiritual Jews. The change in them is that they now have Hebraic roots in them and are in their journey back to the tents of Shem not the other way around. Those changing the Turah of Yahuah to the Gentile or Greek customs are not the spiritual Jews.

We saw evidence from scriptures that the Gentiles coming to the faith were engrafted in the same olive tree now having the Hebraic roots

Ro 11:17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;
18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.

We saw fulfillment of prophecies as stated in YashaYahu (Isaiah) with the Gentiles coming into the tents of Shem now speaking the language of Canaan (language of the fathers which was Hebrew)

Isa 19:18 ¶ In that day shall five cities in the land of Egypt speak the language of Canaanand swear to Yahuah of hosts; one shall be called, The city of destruction.

Isa 11:11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that Yahuah shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.

Yahuah says that he will set his HAND A SECOND TIME to recover the remant of his people from Egypt, Assyria and uttermost parts of the earth.

Those dispersed in the Babel's confusion would now speak the language of the fathers, a pure language by which they would would give esteem to the name of Yahuah.

We also saw the cleansing of the tongue by the pure language and saw the examples of YashaYahu (Isaiah) and Paulos who heard words which was witheld from man to utter.

Isa 6:5 ¶ Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, Yahuah of hosts

2Co 12:4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard concealed/hidden (nis’tariym ) words, which is witheld (nim'na) from man to utter.

In his mercy, be it Ashurit, Greek, Latin, English or any language of the world Yahuah would gather his people unto him thus bringing them back to the tents of Shem.

Ro 1:16 ¶ For I am not ashamed of the gospel of  the Messiah: for it is the power of Alahim unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

We saw different Hebrew words like Abba, Hosanna, Amen, ephphatha,Corban, raca etc used in translations which Greek couldn't translate these words which shows that the Renewed Testament was written in Hebrew and later translated to other languages.

We also saw Paulos instructions of appointing elders in the church and we looked closely that these elders appointed were Jews and not new convert Gentiles as it is today where we see churches overrun by a Greek-Roman culture into abominations because the church has lost its Hebraic roots in obedience to Alahim's Turah.

We saw a lot of evidence from scriptures on these instructions which we cannot go in detail in this study.

An Overseer of the flock Paul said should not be a novice. Just imagine the Greeks who came into the church who were new converts taking over the church as elders, overseers and deacons, what a chaos it would be because they would not know the law of Alahim or would not have the teaching capability until they spent time searching and learning scriptures taught to them as Titus did who was a Greek and under Paul had learnt and studied the scriptures.

1Ti 3:6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

Paul claimed Ac 24:14 But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I Alahim of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:

Was Paul lying or had a double standard? No he was honest. He was a Jew and worshiped Alahim of his fathers believing all things which were written in the law and the prophets and taught it to the Gentiles.

In this study we will see these men whom Alahim set apart for himself to proclaim his besorah (gospel) among the Gentiles and that these men kept their Hebraic heritage intact in observing the Turah of Alahim.

1 Corin 9: 20 And I became as a Jew to the Jews, that I might gain Jews; to those
following Turah as following Turah,that I might gain those following Turah;
21 to those without the Turah as without instruction (not being without the Turah of Alahim, but under the instruction of Messiah), that I might gain those without the Turah .
22 I became to the weak as weak, that I might gain the weak. To all I have become all things, that in any and every way every man might be saved.

Shaul was clear in his approach towards winning people to the Messiah, to the Jew he became as a Jew following the Turah and to the Gentiles he approached them as a non Jew but yet not being without the Turah of Alahim but under the instruction of the Messiah who defines the Turah spiritually.

Did you know that Shaul was also known as Paulos which was his Latin nickname?

Acts13:9 But Shaul, who was also known as Paulos, filled with the Holy Spirit, fixed his gaze on him,

Who changed Shaul's name? No one, he himself used his nickname because he was called to be an apostle to the Gentiles.

Ro 11:13 For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:

Shaul had Roman citizenship and was from Tarsus, hence under the Roman citizenship he had this Greek-Latin nick name Paulos which he used it to his advantage to win the Gentiles to the Messiah but he was very clear that he was not without Turah towards Alahim but was under the instruction of the Messiah. By the wisdom which Messiah gave him he used his nickname to make Gentiles spiritual Jews

Ac 22:25 And as they bound him with thongs, Paulos said unto the centurion that stood by, Is it lawful for you to scourge a man that is a Roman, and uncondemned?

That's why you see in all of is epistles he introduces himself as Paulos and not by his Hebrew name Shaul. In his encounter with the Messiah, the Messiah called out his Hebrew name.

1Cor 1:1 Paulos, called as an apostle of Yahushua the Mashiyach by the will of Alahim,
and Sosthenes our brother.

Acts 9:3 As he was traveling, it happened that he was approaching Damascus,
and suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him;
Acts9:4 and he fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him,“Shaul, Shaul, why are you persecuting Me?
Acts9:5 And he said, Who are You, My master? And the Master said, “I am Yahusha whom you are persecuting,(it shall be hard for you to kick against the prick.”

When witnessing to king Agrippa and in other places Shaul does mention that Yahusha called out to him in the Hebrew tongue.

Acts 26:1 Agrippa said to Paulos, You are permitted to speak for yourself.
Then Shaul stretched out his hand and made his defense...........................................      Acts 26:14 And when we had all fallen to the ground, I heard a voice saying to me in the Hebrew dialect,‘Shaul, Shaul, why are you persecuting Me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.

When he presented his defense of faith in the Messiah to the Jews he spoke in the Hebrew tongue and explained to them his encounter with the Messiah in the Hebrew dialect.

Acts 22:1 Men, brethren and fathers, hear my defense which I now offer to you.              Acts 22:2 And when they heard that he was addressing them in the Hebrew dialect,
they became even more quiet; and he said                                                                        Acts22:3 I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city, at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of our fathers, being zealous for Alahim just as you all are today. .............................
Acts22:7 and I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, “Shaul, Shaul, why are you persecuting Me?”

Indeed to the Jew he was a Jew with the Turah and with the Gentiles he was as a Gentile but not without the Turah. The Turah he followed is defined by the Messiah who opens the understanding of what the Turah means.Shaul who became Paulos also testifies that the Messiah who appeared to him to encourage him used his Greek-Latin name relating him to witness in Rome.

Acts 23:11 But on the night immediately following, the Master stood by him and said, “Take courage Paulos;for as you have testified of Me in Yerushalam, so you must witness at Rome also.”

Remember this was the same Master Yahusha who had called out his name in Hebrew when he was heading to Damascus and also the people in Yerushalayim had known his Hebrew name by which he witnessed to them, here the same Master is calling his Greek-Latin name tying up his witness to Yahusha in Rome.We have scripture confirming that Barnaba and Shaul had fulfilled their mission in Yerushalam. Their ministry to the Jews was complete. Now they were on a mission to the Gentiles.

Acts 12:25 And Barnaba and Shaul returned from Yerushalam when they had fulfilled their mission, taking along with them Yahuchanan, who was also called Marqos.

Was Shaul the only one to utilize his Greek-Latin name for winning the Gentiles. There were other Jews also who had the Roman citizenship whom Yahusha chose to witness to him to the Gentiles. Of them was Yahuchanan who was called Marqos, Marqos was his Greek-Latin name.

What about Barnaba?

Acts 4:36 And Yoseph, who was surnamed Barnaba by the apostles
(which is, being interpreted, the son of Encouragement), the man of the house of Levi
which was born in the country of Cyprus,

Yoseph was the Jewish name his Hellinistic parents (Jews settled in Cyprus) gave him but the apostles gave him a NICKNAME (the hebrew word כנוהו ( kinuhu) means nickname) Barnaba which means 'Son of Consolation'. This was an Aramaic name which actually meant 'Son of a prophet'.The Hebrew word 'nachamam' which means 'Consolation' is used by Paulos in 1 Corin 14:3 in respect to the consolation one receives from prophesying. So these men with their Greek-Latin name went out but not without obedience to the Turah of Alahim. They lived among the Gentiles but were not part of their lifestyle but were HEBRAIC in their heritage.

Barnaba along with Shaul was one of the prophets in the church at Antioch.

Acts13:1 Now there were at Antioch, in the assembly that was there, prophets and teachers: Barnaba, and Simeon who was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene,
and Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Shaul

There is a lot of proof of disciples having pseduo names, these Jews were those who either had Roman citizenship or were Hellnistic Jews who under the Roman regime had their Jewish names hidden when they were accounted for in Roman census in a strange land where they were brought up.Simeon who was called 'Niger' (Niger is a Latin name which means 'black' and from where we have the word 'Neegro') is also a proof of what we have been discussing about.

Acts 15:22 Then it seemed good to the apostles and the elders,
with the whole assembly, to choose men from among them to send to Antioch with Shaul
and Barnaba, Yahudah (Judas) called Barshabah, and Silas, leading men among the brethren.

Yahudah nicknamed Barshabah was sent with Shaul and Barnaba to Antioch to dispel the confusion among Gentile converts on dabar meats, on circumsicion, food offered to idols etc. Alahim used these men to show his grace to the Gentiles but these men were in no way without the Turah towards Alahim. They were prophets in the church, they carried the instructions of the apostles to the Gentiles, they encouraged the churches of Yahusha.

Acts15:32 Yahudah and Silas, also being prophets themselves, exhorted the brethren
with many words, and confirmed them.

This Yahudah was nicknamed Barshabah which was an Aramaic name.

Acts15:37 Barnaba wanted to take Yahuchanan, called Marqos, along with them also.
Acts 15:38 But Shaul kept insisting that they should not take him with them,
who departed from them in Pamphylia and had not gone with them to the work.
Acts15:39 And there occurred such a sharp disagreement that they separated from one another, and Barnaba took Marqos with him and sailed away to Cyprus.
Acts15:40 But Paulos chose Silas and left, being committed by the brethren to the grace of Yahuah.

Acts13:13 Now Shaul and his companions loosed from Paphos and came to Perga in Pamphylia; but Yahuchanan departing from them and returned to Yerushalam.

Paulos and Barnaba had a sharp disagreement between them over Yahuchanan who was nicknamed Marqos who had left their calling into witnessing to the Gentiles and returned back to Yerushalam. Paulos by the instruction of the Turah of Messiah understood this calling that these men accompayning him were committed to the same mission he was called to . But when he saw Yahuchanan called Marqos went back to Yerushalam leaving them in their mission there was a sharp argument with Barnaba who was insistent to take him along with them so much as such that they parted ways. This Marqos was Barnaba's nephew and later Paulos realized and saw the work of his ministry and saw him profitable for the same calling with which he was called and asks Timothy to bring him along with him.

2Tim 4:11 Only Luke is with me. Take Aleph Tau Marqos, and bring with you,
for he is profitable to me for the ministry.

Col 4:10 Aristarchus, my fellow prisoner, greets you; and sister’s son Marqos (Yahuchanan) to Barnabas (touching whom you received commandments; if he comes to you, receive him);

Paulos recommends Marqos ministry to the Gentiles and asks the church to receive him if he comes to you. Paulos recommends Yustos also who also had the Greek-Latin pseudo name but was a Messianic.

Col 4:11 and Yahusha who is called  Yustos (Justus), who are of the circumcision,These only are my fellow workers unto the kingdom of the Alahim which have been a comfort to me

Along with Paulos these Jews with Greek-Latin-Aramaic names played a very important role in instructing the assemblies with the instructions they received from the apostles. They preserved their Hebraic heritage in their obedience to the Turah of Alahim. There is a purpose why Paulos introduces these men in his epistles. Alahim shows us that we must never loose our hebraic roots and sets these men as examples for us when it comes to ministering among the Gentiles.
