Body of Moses

There are many who do not understand what it means when the devil came to dispute the body of Moshe and have concluded carnally. This note is to share the correct perspective in understanding the spiritual vs spiritual through a thorough scriptural presentation which paints a beautiful picture to help us understand the ruach in the letter.

Let's begin by reading Numbers 9:6-12:

Numbers 9:6-12 :

[6] And there were certain men, who were defiled by the dead body of a man, that they could not keep the Passover on that day: and they came before Moses and before Aaron on that day:
[7] And those men said unto him, we are defiled by the dead body of a man: wherefore are we kept back, that we may not offer an offering of Yahuah in his appointed season among the children of Yasharal?
[8] And Moses said unto them, Stand still, and I will hear what Yahuah will command concerning you.
[9] And Yahuah spoke unto Moses, saying,
[10] Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, if any man of you or of your posterity shall be unclean by reason of a dead body, or be in a journey afar off, yet he shall keep the Passover unto Yahuah.
[11] The fourteenth day of the second month in the evening they shall keep it and eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.
[12] They shall leave none of it unto the morning, nor break any bone of it: according to all the ordinances of the Passover they shall keep it.

The account is from Numbers where there were some from Yasharal who couldn't keep the Pesach in the first month because they had touched a dead body. They came to Masha (Moses) and Aharon (Aaron) consulting what needs to be done. Masha takes this matter to Yahuah and Yahuah gives a command to observe it on the fourteenth day of the second month.

This is how we understand when Yahusha and the thieves impaled with him on the stake, the Yahudi’s showed urgency to take down their bodies before sunset as the next day was a high Shabbath. The Yahudi s didn't want to take a chance to be allocated the second cycle of Muaedim (feasts) for they would have touched or come near dead bodies.

John 19:31-32 The Yahudi's therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the stake on the Sabbath day, (for that Sabbath day was a high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. [32] Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was impaled with him.

The Torah portion is deeper for priests :

1. he was never to tear his clothes
2. no approach a dead body
3. shall not go out of the sanctuary

Lev21:10 The priest who is the highest among his brothers, who has had the anointing oil been poured on his head and who consecrated his hand to put the garments, shall not uncover his head nor tear his clothes;
Lev21:11 nor shall he approach any dead soul, nor defile himself even for his father nor for his mother;
Lev21:12 nor shall he go out of the sanctuary nor profane the sanctuary of his El, for the consecration of the anointing oil of his El is on him; I am Yahuah

Point no 3. shall not go out of the sanctuary is better understood in Lev 10. Nadab and Abihu were killed for offering strange fire. Moshe called MishaEl and Etsaphan who were Levites but not priests to carry their dead bodies outside the camp.

Lev10:4 Mosheh called also to Misha’El and Etsaphan, the sons of Aharon’s uncle Uzzi’El, and said to them, come forward, carry your brothers away from the front of the sanctuary to the outside of the camp.

Lev10:6 Then Mosheh said to Aharon and to Eleazar and to Ithamar his sons, Do not uncover your heads nor tear your clothes, lest you shall die and lest let wrath come upon all the congregation. But your brothers, the whole house of Yisra’El, shall bewail the burning which Yahuah has brought about.
Lev10:7 You shall not even go out from the doorway of the tent of appointment, lest you die; for anointing oil of Yahuah is upon you. So, they did according to the word of Mosheh.

There were 3 violations as per Lev 10:4-7 & 21:10 & 11, 1. the high priest tore his clothes, 2. also, his representatives referred to as plural chief priests were at the feet of Yahusha when He died which disqualified them from their priesthood & 3. they went out of from the tent of appointment to mock Yahusha.

Matt26:63 But Yahusha kept silent, and the high priest answered and said to Him, “I am making You swear by the living Elohim to tell us if You are the Mashiyach, the Son of the Elohim!”
Matt26:64 Yahusha said to him, “You have said it. And I say to you, from now on, you shall see the Son of Adam sitting to the right hand of the power and coming with the clouds of the heavens.”
Matt26:65 Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, “He is a blasphemer! What do we have to seek more for witnesses? Have you now not heard His blasphemy?”

Mark15:29 Those passing by insulted Him, wagged their heads, and said, “Ah! You who would demolish the Temple and build it in three days!”
Mark15:30 “Save Yourself and come down from the crucifixion!”
Mark15:31 Likewise, also the chief priests with the scribes ridiculed Him to one another, saying, “He saved others, He is not able to save Himself!”

Now let's turn to ZecharYah 3 where the text tells us the Messenger of Yahuah was Yahuah Himself.

Yahudah (Jude) says this angel of Yahuah was Miykael.

Zec 3:1 Then he showed me Yahusha the high priest standing before Messenger Yahuah, and hasatan/the accuser standing at his right hand to accuse him/shatanu

Zec 3:2 Yahuah said to hasatan, Yahuah rebuke you, hasatan! And Yahuah who has chosen Yerushalam rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?

The accuser/opposer stood at the right hand of Yahusha the high priest to accuse him. This is what Yahudah in his letter says ‘the shatan disputed on the body of Moshe.’

Jude 1:9 But Mika’El the chief messenger, in contending with hashatan, when he disputed with him concerning the body of Mosheh, it is not his heart filled to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said, Yahuah rebuke you!

MikaEL in Hebrew means ‘He who is as Elohim’ is Messenger Yahuah who told ‘hashatan’ that Yahuah rebuke you, this was fulfilled by ‘ha Mashiyach/the Anointed One’ who rebuked ‘ha shatan’ on the stake by His death because the high priest under the old covenant representing Yahusha in a Levitical interim priesthood was unclean and had to offer sacrifice for himself and then for the sins of the people of Yasharal on the Day of Atonement. Why do we look at ZacharYah 3? It's because Yahusha died at the exact same place where the mikphad altar was (where the red heifer was sacrificed on the Day of Atonement).

First let’s look at the phrase ‘brand plucked from the fire’ in Zec 3:2

The word translated as 'brand' is the Hebrew word ‘aud אוד H181’ which means ‘charcoal’. The picture is of a charcoal removed from the fire and by keeping it out of the fire, the fire dies out and the charcoal is temporarily kept from being destroyed.

The word ‘plucked’ is the Hebrew word ‘natsal נצל H5337’ which means deliver/delivered/escape.

brand plucked out of fire’ ( zeh ‘aud natsal ’esh) should be correctly translated as ‘charcoal delivered/escaped from the fire’. The Messenger of Yahuah is letting ha shatan know that the high priest's transition as he is delivered as the coal from the sacrificial fire of the physical altar.

Zec 3:3 Now Yahusha was clothed with filthy garments and standing before the messenger.

Zec 3:4 He spoke and said to those who were standing before him, saying, Remove the filthy/tsayam צאים H6674 garments from him. And he said to him, See, I have taken your iniquity away from you and shall clothe you with festal robes/machalats H4254.

Chalats חלץ Strongs #2504: means 'loins' & machal מחל H4234 means 'dance'. Hence, some translations translate ‘machalats מחלץ’ H4254 as ‘festal robes’ while others translate it as 'change of garments or costly clothing' It’s actually a costly robe stripped from daughters of Tsiyon which can be seen from the usage in one another place in scriptures.

Isa3:17 Therefore my Adon (Master) shall smite with a scab the crown of the daughters of Tsion, and Yahuah shall make their secret parts naked.
Isa3:18 In that day My Adon (Master) shall take away the beauty of their anklets, and headbands, and crescent ornaments,
Isa3:19 dangling earrings, bracelets, veils,
Isa3:20 headdresses, and ankle chains, and sashes, and the houses of the soul, and amulets,
Isa3:21 the rings, and nose jewels,
Isa3:22 the costy clothing/machalatsoth מחלצות H4254 and the outer garments, and the shawls and the purses,

Here in Zech 3:4 this costly clothing is given as a covering to the nakedness of the office of the priesthood. It's no coincidence that the same named high priest 'Yahusha' is termed by ZacharYah in his vision. The high priest representing the entire priesthood was in a defiled state.

The Hebrew word 'tsa צא ' G6674 where the plural is mentioned as 'tsayam צאים ' means 'as if excrementitious filthy' (as someone who has shit in his garments).

Rev 12:10 And I heard a loud voice in the heavens, saying, Now the salvation of our El and His power and His kingdom and the authority of His Mashiyach have come for the accuser/shatan of our brothers has been thrown down and stands to accuse/shatanam them before our El day and night.

Luke 10:18 And He said to them, “I saw the satan/hashatan falling like lightning from the heavens.”

By the work of Mashiyach on the stake, the accuser is cast down from the heavenly pattern as no place is found for him to come among the sons of Elohim for there is a transference of priesthoods and transference of altars seen by the Messenger of Alahym telling ha shatan "Is this not a charcoal delivered from the fire?".

Jude 1:9 Yet Miyakel the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body (guyath) of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, Yahuah rebuke you.

Guyah: dead body/corpse/carcass
Goy: nation, heathen/gentiles

It is interesting to see the word used for ‘body’ of Moses. The word has the root ‘goy’ which means Gentiles/Heathen. The Gentiles/Heathen are those who are alienated from the covenant of Yahuah and are like a dead body or corpse.

The Greek word soma G4983 means body and also means a 'dead corpse', It is also used figuratively as the corporeal body, as distinguished from the psyche or soul and the pneuma or spirit from where we get our English word 'corporate' which means 'A large company or group'. However, there is a contrast between 'corporeal' and 'corporate' as 'corporeal' is related to 'a person's body' and 'corporate' is related to a 'group'

Was the devil disputing for the heathen before Yahuah? No that is not what it means. Shatan was accusing the coming near a dead corpse because in the pattern the high priest/chief priests under Torah were imperfect and filthy because the high priest had to offer sacrifice on day of Atonement first for himself and then for the people of Yasharal. Moreover, he and the chief priests were always touching dead bodies of beasts when they were slain. Hence, the transference had to happen when they would be fully disqualified when they came near Yahusha's dead body at the stake where the mikphad altar was. Yahusha was a high priest and ZacharYahu gives us a picture that the high priest and the entire priesthood he represented under Torah was imperfect and filthy as like the dung. When beasts were killed for sacrifice, their dung also emitted when they died which had to be burned outside the camp.

Ex29:14 But the flesh of the bull and its hide and its dung, you shall burn with fire outside the camp; it is a sin offering.

This burning was not to be done by the priests but the Levites who were not priests.
Thus, his garments shown as filthy/dung stunk, Yahuah would rebuke Shatan on the stake to give a change of costly garments of His Malchitsedek priesthood through the transition. He would switch sides and ha shatan standing at His right hand had nothing to accuse Him of.

John14:30 “I shall not speak much further with you because, behold, the ruler of this world is coming. He has nothing in Me,

And indeed, by a perfect sacrifice of being without khatah (sin) Yahusha our kahan ha gadal (high priest) rebuked Shatan. This was the true pattern of which Masha’s body stood as a shadow of and the ‘’goy’’ are those who were under the letter.

The Hebrew & Greek word simply shows us that the body is figurative of a 'corporeal body' which is distinguished from a physical body which has a psyche/soul/spirit.

Under the Torah of khatah (sin) and muth (death). By not understanding the Torah (spirit in the letter) the chief priests had already come near a dead body. Paul says by Torah the whole world becomes guilty before Alahym.

Romans 3:19 Now we know that what things soever the Torah says, it says to them who are under the Torah: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before Alahym.

The Torah of life was concealed and hidden in the Torah of khatah and muth (sin and death)
The Messenger of Yahuah tells Yahusha the high priest that his transgressions are forgiven and gives him clean costly garments. The change of vesture shows the change of the priesthood and the change of the Torah.

Heb 2:2 For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward.
Heb 2:3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Yahuah, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him.

Alahym used the angelic beings to go up and down the ladder of mediation till the true Mediator between Alahym and man would stand representing Alahym to man and man to Alahym. The body of Moses is Moses Torah which testifies of Messiah and was a shadow of the Tent from above.

1Th 4:16 For the Adon himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of Alahym: and the dead in Messiah shall rise first:

Have you wondered why Messiah would descend from heaven with the voice of the archangel and with the trump of Alahym?

What do you propose Satan was doing disputing the body of Moses? Was he planning to make a monument of Moses body and display it as idolatry. That’s the unscriptural rant I have heard in the Christianity teaching. The body of Moses was the Torah of sin and death which fell short of the Malchitsedek priesthood & required a perfect high priest who was clean. There was an imperfect high priest according to the Levitical order, himself being a sinner mediating for the sins of the people by daily coming close to dead bodies and dung of beasts and not even aware of his transgressions or falling short of what was written. These are spiritual things and need spiritual discernment. Moses Torah testifies Messiah as the true and sinless high priest with the face of Alahym standing as a Mediator of the Covenant.

Moses died thousands of years back. The disputing of body of Moses was not a literal body but the Torah of khatah and muth (sin and death) in which the sinful high priest stood mediating for the sins of the people. The instances of Jude 1:9 and Zec 3 are one and the same as NT confirms OT and Yahudah (Jude) is not speaking of some mystical event which was not known. The name 'Yahusha' in ZecharYah 3 is figuratively used to show a contrast to the Messenger whose identity is concealed but was a spokesperson for Yahuah who would switch sides.

Zec3:1 Then he showed me Yahusha the high priest standing before the Messenger of Yahuah, and hasatan standing at his right hand to accuse him.

So, in the vision a High Priest representing the Levitical priesthood bearing the name 'Yahuah is Salvation' was standing before the actual concealed in name High Priest Yahusha (who was Yahuah Himself). The adversary was standing at the right hand of the earthly high priest to accuse him.

We have further testimony of scripture when Messiah was transfigured Peter, James and John saw Moses and EliYah speak with Messiah when his raiment became white and was glistering. Compare it with the raiment of Yahusha the high priest in Zec 3 and the promise of change of garments that was to be given,

Luk 9:28 And it came to pass about eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray.
Luk 9:29 And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering.
Luk 9:30 And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and EliYah:

Here we have Moses representing the Torah and EliYah the prophets upholding the sinless and blameless high priest Messiah who alone is worthy of the high priesthood. This was just a vision and no literal Moses or EliYah came because they are still awaiting the resurrection.

Mat 17:9 And as they came down from the mountain, Yahusha charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.

Hosea 6:1-2 Come and let us return unto Yahuah : for he has torn, and he will heal us; he has smitten, and he will bind us up. [2] After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

After two days he will revive us and in the third day he will raise us up. This is related to Time (muaed), Times (muaedim) and dividing of time (khatsay). The time (muaed) and times (muaedim) relate to a carnal observation of muaedim (feasts) of the shemitah . It’s like touching the dead body of Masha (Moses) as going back to the old Levitical pattern.
After two days he will revive us:in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight. Yahusha saved us as he was three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Matt 12:40 “for just as Yunah (Jonah) was three days and three nights in the belly of the sea monster, so shall the Son of the Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.”

He took our darkness of being blinded to his Torah.

Romans 8:1-2 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Mashiyach Yahusha, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. [2] For the Torah of the Spirit of life in Mashiyach Yahusha has made me free from the Torah of sin and death.

2 Corinthians 6:16-17 And what agreement has the temple of Alahym with idols? for you are the temple of the living Alahym; as Alahym has said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them ; and I will be their Alahym, and they shall be my people. [17] Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, says Alahym and touch not the unclean thing ; and I will receive you,

De 34:5 ¶ So Moses the servant of the YAHUAH died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the YAHUAH. 6 And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, opposite Bethpeor: but no man knows of his sepulchre unto this day.

Beth (House) Peor (Wide open)

BethPeor was given to the children of Reuben who was the firstborn of Yasharal and lost his birthright.

Jos 13:15 So Mosheh gave an inheritance to the tribe of the sons of Reuben according to their families.
Jos 13:16 Their territory was from Aroer, which is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon, with the city which is in the middle of the valley and all the plain by Medeba;
Jos 13:17 Heshbon, and all its cities which are on the plain: Dibon and Bamoth-baal and Beth-baal-meon,
Jos 13:18 and Jahaz and Kedemoth and Mephaath,
Jos 13:19 and Kiriathaim and Sibmah and Zereth-shahar on the hill of the valley,
Jos 13:20 and Beth-peor and the slopes of Pisgah and Beth-jeshimoth,
Jos 13:21 even all the cities of the plain and all the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites who reigned in Heshbon, whom Mosheh struck him with the chiefs of Midian, Evi and Rekem and Zur and Hur and Reba, the princes of Sihon, who lived in the land.
Jos 13:22 The sons of Yasharal killed Balaam the son of Beor, the diviner, with the sword among their slain.
Jos 13:23 The border of the sons of Reuben was the Yarden (Jordan), and the border. This was the inheritance of the sons of Reuben according to their families, the cities and their villages.

Deut 34:6 tells us that Masha (Moses) was buried in the land of Moab opposite Beth-Peor (House wide open). The house of the first born of Yasharal is wide open for those chasing the body of Masha (Moses) which was buried in the land of Moab.

Deut34:6 And He buried him in the valley in the land of Moab, opposite Beth-Peor; but no man knows his burial place to this day.

Num 21:25 And Yisra’ĕl took all these cities, and Yisra’ĕl dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites – in Ḥeshbon and in all its villages,
Num 21:26 for Ḥeshbon was the city of Siḥon the sovereign of the Amorites, who had fought against the former sovereign of Mo’aḇ, and had taken all his land from his hand as far as the Arnon.
Num 21:27  That is why those who speak in proverbs say, “Come to Ḥeshbon, let the city of Siḥon be built and established.

Masha gave this land to Reubenites,to the Gadites and to half the tribe of Menashsheh

Num 32:33 So Mosheh gave to the children of Gaḏ, to the children of Re’uḇĕn, and to half the tribe of Menashsheh, son of Yosĕph, the reign of Siḥon sovereign of the Amorites and the reign of Oḡ sovereign of Bashan, the land with its cities within the borders, the cities of the land round about.

Num 32:37 And the children of Re’uḇĕn built Ḥeshbon and Elʽalĕh and Qiryathayim.

Lu 5:37 And no man puts new wine into old wine skins; else the new wine will burst the wine skins, and be spilled, and the wine skins shall perish.
38 But new wine must be put into new wine skins; and both are preserved.
39 No man also having drunk old wine straightway desires new: for he says, The old is better.

The Messiah spoke of the above parable when he was at Levi's house with all the publicans and the Pharisees murmured telling his disciples why are they eating with publican and sinners. The Messiah tells them that they have drunk the old wine (referring to the law of sin and death) and do not desire the new (new creation) for to them the old is better.

Lu 5:29 And Levi made him a great feast in his own house: and there was a great company of publicans and of others that sat down with them.
30 But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do you eat and drink with publicans and sinners?

Joh 9:28 Then they reviled him, and said, You art his disciple; but we are Moses' disciples. A besorah (gospel) full of legalisms, do's and don'ts, judging externally, observing the carnal ordinances without understanding the law of liberty is the gospel of a servant bound hand and foot in the house of bondage but the Yerushalayim from above is the mother of all those who understand the law of the liberty in Messiah.

2Co 3:15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Adon, the vail shall be taken away.
17 Now Adon is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Adon is, there is liberty.
