Psa 29:9 The voice of יהוה makes the deer give birth, And strips the forests bare; And in His Hěḵal everyone says, “Esteem!”
Pslams 29 speaks of the voice of Yahuah and that it is powerful. The voice /qol is defined as being over many waters where waters are metaphorical for peoples/nations.
We have seen when Yahuah came down on Mount Sinai there were thunderings, lightnings, voices and a gadul voice.
Exo 19:16 And it came to be, on the third day in the morning, that there were voices/qolot and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mountain. And a voice/qol of a shophar was very strong, and all the people who were in the camp trembled.
While there were voices, quaking, loud noise of shophar blowing, yet there was a voice in all the voices and noises which only the elders of Yasharal heard and they trembled and asked Moshe to go on their behalf lest they die.
Deu 5:23 “And it came to be, when you heard the voice from the midst of the darkness, while the mountain was burning with fire, that you came near to me, all the heads of your tribes and your elders,
Deu 5:24 and said, ‘See, יהוה our Elohim has shown us His esteem and His greatness, and we have heard His voice from the midst of the fire. Today we have seen that Elohim speaks with man – and he lives!
Deu 5:25 And now why should we die? For this great fire is consuming us. If we hear the voice of יהוה our Elohim any more, then we shall die.
Deu 5:26 For who is there of all flesh who has heard the voice of the living Elohim speaking from the midst of the fire, as we have, and does live?
Deu 5:27 You go near and hear all that יהוה our Elohim says, and speak to us all that יהוה our Elohim says to you, and we shall hear and do it.’
Deu 5:28 “And יהוה heard the voice of your words when you spoke to me, and יהוה said to me, ‘I have heard the voice of the words of this people which they have spoken to you. They have done well in all that they have spoken.
This is mentioned in Deut 5 in the scriptures above and the voice there is singular and is ‘qol’ in Hebrew.
When we read Hebrews 12 we see the Speaker is the same and referred to as Yahusha Ha Mashiyach, this is synonymous with Shaul letting us know that Aluahym who spoke in divers manners with the fathers through the prophets/nabi has in these last days spoken with us through His Son whom He has ordered the Heir through whom He also made the ages.
Heb 1:1 Elohim, having of old spoken in many portions and many ways to the fathers by the prophets,
Heb 1:2 has in these last days spoken to us by the Son, whom He has appointed heir of all, through whom also He made the ages,
Heb 12:18 For you have not drawn near to a mountain touched and scorched with fire, and to blackness, and darkness and storm,
Heb 12:19 and a sound of a trumpet, and a voice of words, so that those who heard it begged that no further Word should be spoken to them,c Footnote: cSee Exo 20:19.
Heb 12:20 for they could not bear what was commanded, “If even a beast touches the mountain, it shall be stoned or shot through with an arrow.” Exo 19:12.
Heb 12:21 And so fearsome was the sight that Mosheh said, “I exceedingly fear and tremble.” Deu 9:19.
Heb 12:22 But you have drawn near to Mount Tsiyon and to the city of the living Elohim, to the heavenly Yerushalayim, to myriads of messengers,
Heb 12:23 to the entire gathering and assembly of the first-born having been enrolled in heaven, and to Elohim the Judge of all, and to the spirits of righteous men made perfect,
Heb 12:24 and to יהושע the Mediator of a renewed covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling which speaks better than the blood of Heḇel.
Heb 12:25 Take heed not to refuse the One speaking. For if those did not escape who refused the warning on earth, much less we who turn away from Him from heaven,
Heb 12:26 whose voice shook the earth then, but now He has promised, saying, “Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also the heaven.” Hag 2:6.
Heb 12:27 And this, “Yet once more,” makes clear the removal of what is shaken – as having been made – so that the unshaken matters might remain.
Heb 12:28 Therefore, receiving an unshakeable reign, let us hold the favour, through which we serve Elohim pleasingly with reverence and awe,
Heb 12:29 for indeed, our Elohim is a consuming fire.
Shaul compares the voice spoken at Sinai vs the voice at Mt Tsyion referring to the mount where the firstborn assembly gathers who are enrolled in heaven and to whom is the gathering to spoken of in Hebrew 12:23?
Verse 24 says it’s to Yahusha the Mediator of a renewed covenant.
Heb 12:24 and to יהושע the Mediator of a renewed covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling which speaks better than the blood of Heḇel.
He then goes on to warn “Take heed not to refuse the One speaking “
For the speaker is the same. Voice/qol which was heard as many waters gadul/magnificent was now heard through vocal cords and hence the warning not to underestimate the voice spoken as it was one and the same. The third place this scripture is repeated is by the Nabi/ prophet Habakkuk.
While there is a lot to look at in Psalm 29 our focus would be on verse 9 today
Psa 29:9 The voice of יהוה makes the deer give birth, And strips the forests bare; And in His Hěḵal everyone says, “Esteem!”
The words closely looked at in Hebrew bring out a beautiful hidden meaning which esteems Yahusha our Savior as the verse itself says “In His Heykal/Temple” everyone says “Esteem”
The Hebrew word translated as Hind/Deer is אילה H355 which is feminine of the male deer or hart Ayal/ איל H354
In the song David sang when Yahuah delivered him from king Shaul and his enemies David says
2Sa 22:34 “Making my feet like deer, And sets me on my high places,
The word for feet in Hebrew is Regel/רגל which means requiring one to travel to in the sense of being on foot.
Here the ayalah word used is feminine.
This entire song is listed in Psalms 18 and is elaborative of how Yahuah delivers and how He is a rock and a fortress. He repeats the same here with an elaboration that EL is the one who makes His way perfect. Hence, verse 33 of Psalms 18 is related to the foot in a perfect way which leads to bamah/ high place
Psa 18:32 It is Ěl who girds me with strength, And makes my way perfect,
Psa 18:33 Making my feet like the feet of deer, And sets me on my high places,
The word bamah/ במה translated as high place is rooted in the word beast/bahmah /בהמה
The hind/איל is a very humble harmless animal but is also very speedy in running when senses danger.
Hab 3:19 יהוה the Master is my strength. And He makes my feet like those of deer, And makes me walk on my high places. To the chief singer with my stringed instruments.
Remember this song that Habakkuk sang ties up with David as at the start of his song he says
Hab 3:1 A prayer of Ḥaḇaqquq the prophet, on Shiḡionoth.
And ends the song with
Hab 3:19 יהוה the Master is my strength. And He makes my feet like those of deer, And makes me walk on my high places. *To the chief singer with my stringed instruments*
I’ve touched based on Yahusha who is coming from Teman and Mount Paran which he refers to in this SONG. I’ve touched bases this in this study:
https://dsouzashodan72.blogspot.com/2023/03/yachyid-only.html?m=1
Habakkuk uses Shigionoth and his song is tied to David’s song Pslams 7.
Remember we saw 2Sam 22 and Pslams 18 where David speaks of deliverance from Shaul and his enemies.
We are looking at hind/deer and we will not understand unless we do a comparative verse quotes in these songs. Habakkuk takes us to Pslams 7 where David is pleading with Yahuah to save him from Cush the Benjamite which we will see in a bit, and the reference he gives is Shiginoth or Shiggaion which also we will see in a bit.
He makes my feet as hinds/deer, and sets me on my high places is the deliverance from enemies.
It’s beautiful once we see the tie up and understand who Cush the Benjamite was.
Shiggayon; Psalms 7:1
Shiggayon l’Dawid ‘asher-shar laYahúwah `al-dib’rey-Kush Ben-y’mini.
Shiggayon-H7692 properly aberration, that is, (technically) a dithyramb or rambling poem:
From H7686 shagah which means to mistake, especially (morally) to transgress; by extension through the idea of intoxication
Shiggayon comes from the root word shagah which means to make a mistake/error.
Psalms 7:1 A Shiggayon (A song) of David, which he sang to Yahuah concerning the words of Cush, a Benjamite.
Shiggayon also has a root word H7691 -shegı̂y'âh which means a moral mistake/error.
Cush was a reference to the father of king Saul who was a Benyamini (Benjamite) and probably this was a reference to king Saul that Daud used and named his father CUSH instead of Kish/QYSH H7027, as the spelling differs. Hence, he uses CUSH/Kaph Uau Shin H3568 instead of King Saul. Daud always feared to speak about/against Yahuah's anointed one Saul. It is evident that king Saul pursued Daud to kill him, and the Psalm is a cry to Yahuah is made to deliver him from those who pursued him. Cush is in reference to 'being black' a concealed image of a 'spy' chasing him.
Cush” (meaning “black”) is simply a name of a “spy,” a “traitor,” a real “David hater,”
Rashi (Rabbi Shlomo ben Yitzhak) the Jewish commentator says about Psalms 7:1 as follows:
While Midrash and its explanation is from the minds of the Rabbi's, here their identifying the personality as Shaul is correct. However 2Sam 21 precedes 22 and hence, Psalms 7 was not a reversal of his prayer to Yahuah for 2Sam22 is elaborated in Psalms 18 and it clearly a reference to deliverance from Shaul and his enemies including Yisho-Benob as stated in 2Sam 22:1
2Sam 22:1 And Dawid spoke the words of this song to Yahuah in the day that Yahuah delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Shaul.
Moreover, Psalms 7 is a cry of deliverance from enemies of David and he uses the word 'Shiggayon' which has deep meaning rooted which we saw comes from the root word 'shagah' which means to make a mistake/error which Rashi also states.
Hence, the word also has another meaning embedded i.e. the identity of Shaul is hidden and represented as 'CUSH' instead of 'QYSH' so that David is not in an error of pointing out to Shaul as his enemy, as David didn't consider king Shaul as an enemy but an anointed of Yahuah.
Some commentators say this CUSH was a follower of Shaul who probably befriended David to hand him over to king Shaul. Yet others state that this was Shemei who cursed David when he was fleeing his son Absalom. These types of mystic commentaries are not to be entertained as we don't see anyone named CUSH living at the time of David. And Cush the son of Ham as stated in Gen 10:6 cannot be alive at the time of David. Cush is also Ethiopia (Isaiah 11:11, 18:1) because of their dark skin.
A Shiggaion (A song) of Dawid, which he sang to Yahuah concerning the words of Kush, a Benyamite.
Ps 7:1 O Yahuah my El, in You I have taken refuge; save me from all those who pursue me, and deliver me,
The only Benjamite chasing him down was king Shaul.
1Sam22:6 Then Shaul heard that Dawid and the men who were with him had been discovered. Now Shaul was sitting in Gibeah, under the tamarisk tree on the height with his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing around him.
1Sam22:7 Shaul said to his servants who stood around him, Hear now, O Benyamites! Shall the son of Yishay also give to all of you fields and vineyards? Shall he make all of you commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds?
1Sam22:8 For all of you have conspired against me so that there is no one revealing in my ears, when my son makes a covenant with the son of Yishay, and there is none of you who is sorry for me or reveals in my ears that my son has stirred up my servant against me to lie in ambush, as it is this day.
1Sam22:9 Then Doeg the Adomite, who was standing by the servants of Shaul, answered and said, I saw the son of Yishay coming to Nob, to Achimelek the son of Achitub.
1Sam22:10 And he inquired of Yahuah for him, gave him provisions, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.
David feared Shaul for his Anointing:
1Sa 24:5 And it came to be afterward that the heart of Dawiḏ smote him because he had cut the robe of Sha’ul.
1Sa 24:6 So he said to his men, “Far be it from me, by יהוה, that I should do this matter to my master, anointed of יהוה, to stretch out my hand against him, for he is the anointed of יהוה.”
1Sa 24:7 And Dawiḏ dispersed his servants with words, and did not allow them to rise against Sha’ul. And Sha’ul rose up from the cave and went on his way.
2Sa 1:14 And Dawiḏ said to him, “How was it you were not afraid to stretch out your hand to destroy the anointed of יהוה?”
2Sa 1:15 And Dawiḏ called one of the young men and said, “Draw near and fall on him!” And he smote him so that he died.
2Sa 1:16 And Dawiḏ said to him, “Your blood is on your own head, for your own mouth has witnessed against you, saying, ‘I myself have put to death the anointed of יהוה.’ ”
King Saul was once said to be whether he was from the prophets as he had prophesied and Shiggayon is a song of intoxication of error which Cush (referring to king Saul) made in pursuing Daud who was innocent. Daud knew that Yahuah had departed from Saul and that he used to call Daud to play the harp when a distressing spirit came upon Saul and in this he had also tried to kill Daud by throwing the spear towards him.
1Sa 10:11 And it came to be, all who knew him formerly looked and saw that he prophesied among the prophets. So the people said to each other, “What is this that has come upon the son of KISH? Is Sha’ul also among the prophets?”
1Sa 16:14 And the Spirit of יהוה turned aside from Sha’ul, and an evil spirit from יהוה troubled him.
1Sa 16:15 And the servants of Sha’ul said to him, “Look, now, an evil spirit from Elohim is troubling you.
1Sa 16:16 “Please, let our master command your servants who are before you, to seek out a man who is a skilled player on the lyre. And it shall be that when the evil spirit from Elohim is upon you, that he shall play with his hand, and you be well.”
1Sa 16:22 Sha’ul therefore sent to Yishai, saying, “Please let Dawiḏ stand before me, for he has found favour in my eyes.”
1Sa 16:23 And it came to be, whenever the evil spirit from Elohim was upon Sha’ul, that Dawiḏ would take a lyre and play it with his hand. Then Sha’ul would become refreshed and well, and the evil spirit would leave him. `
Shiggayon is also used by Habakuk in 3:1.
Hab 3:1 A prayer of Ḥaḇaqquq the prophet, on Shiḡionoth.
Habakuk says he has heard Yahuah's report and was afraid and pleads with Yahuah to remember compassion when in wrath. He pleads for the errors people of Yahuah when Yahuah is marching in judgment.
Hab 3:13 You shall go forth to save Your people, To save Your Anointed. You shall smite the Head from the house of the wrong, By laying bare from foundation to neck. Selah.
Notice, in the Shiggiyon Habakkuk tells Yahuah that He shall go forth to save His People and His Anointed and smite the Head from the house of the wrong.
Wasn't Shaul the head from the house of the wrong and the true anointed one was David?
Hab 3:14 You shall pierce with his own arrows The head of his leaders. They stormed along to scatter me, Rejoicing as if to devour the poor in secret.
Hab 3:15 You shall tread the sea with Your horses, The foaming of many waters.
Hab 3:17 Though the fig tree does not blossom, And there is no fruit on the vine, The yield of the olive has failed, And the fields brought forth no food, The flock has been cut off from the fold, And there is no herd in the stalls,
Hab 3:18 Yet I exult in יהוה, I rejoice in the Elohim of my deliverance.
We are looking at this exposition based on what David tells us in Pslams 29:9
Kjv version says Yahuah (name inserted) maketh the hinds to calve
TS009 says Yahuah makes the deer give birth,
Septuagint says The voice of Yahuah (name inserted) strengthens the hinds, and will uncover the thickets:
The Hebrew word used there is with a prefix yod before ‘chulal’ which means ‘They ‘ chulal/חולל which means pain, formed, bring forth, tremble, travail, dance, calve, grieve, wound, shake.
The word can be used positively as well as negatively. Many translations have translated as calved/given birth to which is correct as they did this because the Hebrew word used for hind there based on Job 39:1 is feminine H355 ayalah as males H354 don’t give birth.
So what is the hind/deer giving birth to?
Before we seek an answer to this, we see this word chulal also noted as machulal/מחולל which means formed in Proverbs 26:10
And in Judges 21:21 translated as dance/s
Hence, the picture is of travailing in pain and the pain is forgotten when joy replaces it when a baby is born.
Joh 16:21 “The woman has grief when she is in labour, because her hour has come, but as soon as she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers the affliction, for joy that a man was born into the world.
So also when the elect go through the travailing of bringing forth Mashiyach likeness rejoice in their deliverance by Him when He delivers them from all afflictions. This is the picture.
Gen 49:21 “Naphtali is a deer/ayalah sent forth/shalach שלח, he gives goodly/שפר words/אמרי
The same word shapar/שפר means H7782 a cornet (as giving a clear sound) or curved horn: - cornet, trumpet.
Isn’t this amazing as Naphtali means ‘my wrestle’
And Masha in his blessing said of Naphtali.
Deu 33:23 And of Naphtali he said, “O Naphtali, satisfied with pleasure, and filled with the blessing of יהוה, possess the west and the south.”
This is what was prophesied of Naphtali
Mat 4:15 “Land of Zeḇulun and land of Naphtali, the way of the sea, beyond the Yarděn, Galil of the nations –
Mat 4:16 the people who sat in darkness saw a great light, and upon those who sat in the land and shadow of death, light arose to them.”
Speaking of the oppression and the berekah that Naphtali would receive with Zebulun which were looked down upon as Galil of the Gentiles, but these were the first ones to receive the Messiah willingly.
Meeting their Messiah, Napthali gives the shophar words of life which speaks of Basharah/Gospel.
David and Habakuk compare their walk/regeley as hinds/ayalah in the same deliverance in Mashiyach and all those in the error/shiggainoth of intoxication cannot distress or oppress the elect.
They cannot understand the basharah and hence do not meet the true Messiah.
Pslams 29: 9 ..And strips the forests bare;
Is a mistranslation as the word.
Chasaph means ‘uncover’ which they translated as ‘strip’
The word yarah/יערה also means ‘honeycomb’
But there is no word דְּבַשׁ /dabash mentioned which means honey and hence they translated it as forest.
1Sa 14:27 But Yonathan had not heard that his father had taken an oath of the people, and he stretched out the end of the rod that was in his hand and dipped it in a honeycomb (yarah H3295 dabash H1706 ) and put his hand to his mouth. And his eyes lit up.
Son 5:1 I have come to my garden, My sister, my bride; I have plucked my myrrh with my spice; I have eaten my honeycomb/yaray H3293 (same as yarah) with my honey(dabash H1706); I have drunk my wine with my milk. Eat, O friends! Drink, and drink deeply, O beloved ones!
How absurd it would read if we read it as “I have eaten my forest with my honey”
Jonathan’s instance sound correct “He dipped it in forest honey “ and put his hand to his mouth.
So both forest and honey comb of the forest is correct.
Hence, with the word chasaph which means uncover, the uncovering of the honeycomb from the dense forests in which is sweet honey makes more sense.
Naphtali would come with shophar words revealing who His Messiah is. The hind is feminine and depicts the relationship with the Master who is the the ayal.
Son 2:9 My beloved is like a gazelle or like a young stag/ayal H354 See, he is standing behind our wall, Looking through the windows, Peering through the lattice.
Shalum!
