Maranatha

1Co 16:22  If anyone does not love the Master יהושע Messiah, let him be a curse Maranatha!

Maran atha is Aramaic text which was copied over as it is in Greek manuscripts. Firstly this is evidence that the original manuscripts were written in Hebrew and then translated into Aramaic and then Greek. Why would Greek keep the Aramaic word Maranatha intact ? Weren’t we taught the New Testament original language was Greek? The oldest copy of Aramaic Peshitta is the Khabouris codex which is a copy dated to around 2nd century, older than any Greek manuscript.

Maran: this is what Maran means in Aramaic

https://cal.huc.edu/oneentry.php?lemma=mry+N%20&cits=all

Originally absolute and construct māreˁ ( > mārē), emphatic māryā, but already in OfA the construct can appear simply as mār_. Regularly shortened as a title of respect to mār (i.e., from the first person suffixed form?) and regularly spelled ܡܪܝ‏ in Syriac but simply מר‏ in Jewish texts; pl. mārwān, mārayyā, and mārē, the latter especially in compounds. The full determined form is māryā, but in Syriac that is used only for the Lord God (ie. the Tetragrammaton) and a new form mārā based on the short abs. is used in other contexts, even regularly so in reference to Jesus. Note that in JLAtg the sg. and pl. constructs are both מָרֵי‏; in LJLA also מרוות‏

MARYA is used for YHWH and Maran is rooted in Marya

Phil 2:11 addresses Yahusha as MarYa (YHWH) which is the name Yahuah

When Shaul the emissary addressed Yahusha as ‘Maran’ it was the highest order title for a Rabbi.

In Hebrew, מרן (maran)would be  מורנו (murenu) which is itself composed of the suffix נו ( nu: which means our) meaning our, and the masculine form of the word for teacher, מורה

like the word תורה –Torah, comes from the root י.ר.ה (y.r.h) meaning instruction. A teacher is an instructor.

Hence, in Hebrew ‘murenu’ would mean ‘ Our Master/Teacher’ transliterated from Aramaic

Atah/ATA both in Aramaic and Hebrew means ‘come’

Mat 23:10  גם אל־יקרא לכם מורה כי  (murah)מורה אחד לכם (murah)המשיח׃

Mat 23:10  Neither be ye called teacher : for one is your Teacher even Mashiyach

murah in Hebrew is masculine singular form for Teacher

The Aramaic uses the word

Madabrane which is translated as shepherd/guide/leader

It’s equivalent to the word dabar in Hebrew

The Aramaic word Madabrane has root words

Mare or Marya which is written as YHWH in Hebrew (Yahuah). We saw this in Phil 2:11 “and every tongue will profess that MarYa (Yahuah) is Yahusha Mashiyach…

Example: Acts 1:24 the emissaries prayed to Yahuah to show them whom they have chosen as an emissary between Barshaba and MattitYahu

Madabrane also has root words ‘maran ’ which means ‘teacher’

‘dabar’ which means ‘guide/leader/governor/ruler’

madabara which means ‘pasture/wilderness’

And all these are related to the Hebrew word ‘ DABAR’ which means ‘Word or Order’

Yahusha fits both as John 1:1 titles Him as the Dabar who is Aluahym and He is also a priest forever after the dabar/ order of Malchitsedek

Maran atah - is calling on the One in the Highest Order to Come

And Shaul the emissary says here that those who don’t love Yahusha ha Mashiyach let him be herem (in Aramaic) and Cherem in Hebrew)

Herem or cherem (Hebrew: חרם, ḥērem), as used in the Tanakh, means something given over to Yahuah, or under a ban, and sometimes refers to things or persons to be utterly destroyed.

The word itself means ban/curse/utterly destroyed

Lev 27:28  ‘However, whatever a man lays under ban/cherem for יהוה of all that he has, man and beast, or the field of his possession, is not sold or redeemed. Whatever is laid under ban/cherem is most set-apart to יהוה.

Lev 27:29  ‘No one under the ban/cherem, under the ban/cherem among men, is ransomed, but shall certainly be put to death.

Shaul says if anyone doesn’t love Yahusha let him be under a ban, and this would be an apt translation for there is no other ransom but is put to death as per Lev 27:29

Hence, he cries out Maran ata which spiritually means ‘Yahusha who is Yahuah (Marya) in a highest order as the only Teacher/maran in creation come(ata)
