The so called bloodless atonement- Exodus 30:11-16

There are some people claiming that blood was not a requirement for atonement and even as we saw one of the so called bloodless sacrifice of one tenth of ephah of fine flour as sin offering which was seen in depth in the study ‘Understanding the so called bloodless sacrifice from Leviticus 5:11-13’ this is another so called bloodless atonement quoted by them to show blood was not required for atonement for sins.

“My people have perished for lack of knowledge….Hos 4:6

Lack of understanding of Torah causes the confusion. This study is an attempt for reader to look at the passages closely in scripture to scripture and spiritual vs spiritual understanding of this atonement. Let’s begin….

Exo 30:11  And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying,
Exo 30:12  “When you take the head or census/rash H7218 of the children of Yisra’ĕl, to count or oversee/paqad H6485 them, then each one shall give an atonement for his life to יהוה, when you count or oversee/paqad H6485 them, so that there is no plague among them when you oversee/paqad H6485 them.
Exo 30:13  “Everyone among those that pass/abar H5674 among them that are counted or overseen/paqad H6485,
is to give this: half a sheqel according to the sheqel of the set-apart place, twenty gĕrahs being a sheqel. The half-sheqel is the heave offering/tarmah H4681 to יהוה.
Exo 30:14  “Everyone passing/abar H5674 over to be counted or overseen/paqad H6485, from twenty years old and above, gives a heave offering/tarmah H8641 to יהוה.
Exo 30:15  “The rich does not give more and the poor does not give less than half a sheqel, when you give a heave offering/tarmah H4681 to יהוה, to make atonement for your souls/nephesh H5315.
Exo 30:16  “And you shall take the silver for the atonement from the children of Yisra’ĕl, and give it for the service of the Tent of Meeting. And it shall be to the children of Yisra’ĕl for a remembrance before יהוה, to make atonement for your souls/nephesh H5315.

I have highlighted a lot of words in the above text so let me write it in simple English without the Hebrew for the reader

Exo 30:11  And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying,
Exo 30:12  “When you take the census of the children of Yisra’ĕl, to count them, then each one shall give an atonement for his life to יהוה, when you count them, so that there is no plague among them when you oversee them.
Exo 30:13  “Everyone among those that pass among them that are counted,
is to give this: half a sheqel according to the sheqel of the set-apart place, twenty gĕrahs being a sheqel. The half-sheqel is the heave offering to יהוה.
Exo 30:14  “Everyone passing over to be counted from twenty years old and above, gives a heave offering to יהוה.
Exo 30:15  “The rich does not give more and the poor does not give less than half a sheqel, when you give a heave offering to יהוה, to make atonement for your souls.
Exo 30:16  “And you shall take the silver for the atonement from the children of Yisra’ĕl, and give it for the service of the Tent of Meeting. And it shall be to the children of Yisra’ĕl for a remembrance before יהוה, to make atonement for your souls

Our translations are so diluted and hence as children of Yahuah we must look at Abary to understand the meanings. KJV translated ‘raash’ as ‘sum’ and ISR1998 translates is correctly as ‘census’. The word ‘raash’ H7218 means ‘head or census’.

The word ‘paqad’ H6485 KJV translates it as ‘number’ and ISR 1998 translates it as ‘register them’, while the word ‘number’ is partly correct, it dilutes the meaning in English though. The correct translation should be ‘count or oversee’.

The other word to look at is the word ‘tarmah’ H8641 which KJV translates it as ‘offering’ and ISR 1998 translates it as ‘contribution’ which dilutes the meaning in English because the word ‘tarmah’ H8641 means ‘heave offering’. I have corrected the words to render the correct meaning in English because the ‘half a sheqel’ that is asked is from from both the rich and the poor alike as a ‘HEAVE OFFERING’ from the children of Yashara
l.

Exo 30:15  “The rich does not give more and the poor does not give less than half a sheqel, when you give a heave offering to יהוה, to make atonement for your souls.

In the numbering of the heads of the tribes of Yasharal in the wilderness the Leuites were excluded from the numbering.

Num 1:1  And יהוה spoke to Mosheh in the Wilderness of Sinai, in the Tent of Meeting, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they had come out of the land of Mitsrayim, saying,
Num 1:2  “Take a census of all the congregation of the children of Yisra’ĕl, by their clans, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of names, every male, head by head,
Num 1:3  from twenty years old and above, everyone going out to the army in Yisra’ĕl. Number them by their divisions, you and Aharon.

Num 1:20  And the children of Re’uḇĕn, Yisra’ĕl’s first-born, their genealogies by their clans, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, every male head by head, from twenty years old and above, everyone going out to the army,
Num 1:21  those who were registered of the tribe of Re’uḇĕn were forty-six thousand five hundred.
Num 1:22  From the children of Shimʽon, their genealogies by their clans, by their fathers’ house, of those who were registered, according to the number of names, every male head by head, from twenty years old and above, everyone going out to the army,
Num 1:23  those who were registered of the tribe of Shimʽon were fifty-nine thousand three hundred.
Num 1:24  From the children of Gaḏ, their genealogies by their clans, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, everyone going out to the army,

Num 1:28  From the children of Yissasḵar, their genealogies by their clans, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, everyone going out to the army,
Num 1:29  those who were registered of the tribe of Yissasḵar were fifty-four thousand four hundred.
Num 1:30  From the children of Zeḇulun, their genealogies by their clans, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, everyone going out to the army,
Num 1:31  those who were registered of the tribe of Zeḇulun were fifty-seven thousand four hundred.
Num 1:32  From the sons of Yosĕph, the children of Ephrayim, their genealogies by their clans, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, everyone going out to the army,
Num 1:33  those who were registered of the tribe of Ephrayim were forty thousand five hundred.
Num 1:34  From the children of Menashsheh, their genealogies by their clans, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, everyone going out to the army,
Num 1:35  those who were registered of the tribe of Menashsheh were thirty-two thousand two hundred.
Num 1:36  From the children of Binyamin, their genealogies by their clans, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, everyone going out to the army,
Num 1:37  those who were registered of the tribe of Binyamin were thirty-five thousand four hundred.
Num 1:38  From the children of Dan, their genealogies by their clans, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, everyone going out to the army,
Num 1:39  those who were registered of the tribe of Dan were sixty-two thousand seven hundred.
Num 1:40  From the children of Ashĕr, their genealogies by their clans, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, everyone going out to the army,
Num 1:41  those who were registered of the tribe of Ashĕr were forty-one thousand five hundred.
Num 1:42  From the children of Naphtali, their genealogies by their clans, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, everyone going out to the army,
Num 1:43  those who were registered of the tribe of Naphtali were fifty-three thousand four hundred.
Num 1:44  These were those registered, whom Mosheh and Aharon registered, with the leaders of Yisra’ĕl, twelve men, each one for his father’s house.

If you notice in the above passages from Numbers 1:1-44 first the names of the heads from the tribes to be numbered are listed and then the children of Yasharal by their families, 20 years and above. The tribe Leuite is missing in the numbering as their inheritance was among the children of Yasharal. If you count the heads and the tribes in the above passage you still get 12 because in the numbering Yoseph’s 2 sons are named as tribes. If Leuite is counted as a tribe then we get 13 tribes. The reader would think there is a contradiction, but in Yahuah’s dabar there is no contradiction, it’s man’s carnal mind that cannot comprehend the works of Yahuah.

For details you may read my study on this here which explains this in detail:

Num 1:47  But the Lĕwites were not counted among them by their fathers’ tribe,
Num 1:48  because יהוה had spoken to Mosheh, saying,
Num 1:49  “Only the tribe of Lĕwi you do not count, nor take a census of them among the children of Yisra’ĕl.

The census of the Leuites:

The Leuites were taken in number against every first-born of the children of Yasharal. Numbers 3:39 records that the count of the Leuites in the census was 22,000 when they were numbered and the first-born of the children of Yasharal were 22,273 (Numbers 3:43) and for the extra 273 first-born of Yasharal five shekels for head to head were to be taken which amounts to 1,365 shekels (273 x 5) (Numbers 3:46-50).  This excess ransom money of 1,365 sheqels were given to Aharon and his sons (Numbers 3:51) as their portion.

Num 3:11  And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying,
Num 3:12  “Now look, I Myself have taken the Lĕwites from among the children of Yisra’ĕl instead of every first-born who opens the womb among the children of Yisra’ĕl. And the Lĕwites shall be Mine,
Num 3:13  because all the first-born are Mine. On the day that I struck all the first-born in the land of Mitsrayim, I set apart to Myself all the first-born in Yisra’ĕl, both man and beast. They are Mine, I am יהוה.
Num 3:14  And יהוה spoke to Mosheh in the Wilderness of Sinai, saying,
Num 3:15  Count/paqad H6485 the children of Lĕwi by their fathers’ houses, by their clans. Register every male from a month old and above.”
Num 3:16  So Mosheh registered them according to the word of יהוה, as he had been commanded.
Num 3:17  And these were the sons of Lĕwi by their names: Gĕreshon, and Qehath, and Merari.
Num 3:18  And these are the names of the sons of Gĕreshon by their clans: Liḇni and Shimʽi.
Num 3:19  And the sons of Qehath by their clans: Amram and Yitshar, Ḥeḇron and Uzzi’ĕl.
Num 3:20  And the sons of Merari by their clans: Maḥli and Mushi. These are the clans of the Lĕwites by their fathers’ houses.
Num 3:21  From Gĕreshon came the clan of the Liḇnites and the clan of the Shimʽites. These were the clans of the Gĕreshonites.
Num 3:22  Their registered ones, according to the number of all the males from a month old and above, their registered ones were seven thousand five hundred.

Num 3:39  All the registered ones of the Lĕwites, whom Mosheh and Aharon registered at the command of יהוה, by their clans, all the males from a month old and above, were twenty-two thousand.

Num 3:40  And יהוה said to Mosheh, Register all the first-born males of the children of Yisra’ĕl from a month old and above, and take the number of their names.
Num 3:41  “And you shall take the Lĕwites for Me – I am יהוה – instead of all the first-born among the children of Yisra’ĕl, and the livestock of the Lĕwites instead of all the first-born among the livestock of the children of Yisra’ĕl.”
Num 3:42  And Mosheh registered all the first-born among the children of Yisra’ĕl as יהוה had commanded him.
Num 3:43  And all the first-born males, by the number of names, from one month old and above of their registered ones, were twenty-two thousand two hundred and seventy-three.
Num 3:44  And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying,
Num 3:45  “Take the Lĕwites instead of all the first-born among the children of Yisra’ĕl, and the livestock of the Lĕwites instead of their livestock. And the Lĕwites shall be Mine, I am יהוה.
Num 3:46  “And for the ransom of the two hundred and seventy-three of the first-born of the children of Yisra’ĕl, who are more than the number of the Lĕwites,
Num 3:47  you shall take five sheqels for each one, head by head – take it by the sheqel of the set-apart place, the sheqel of twenty gĕrahs.
Num 3:48  “And you shall give the silver, the ransom of those who are in excess among them, to Aharon and his sons.”
Num 3:49  And Mosheh took the ransom silver from those who were over and above those who were ransomed by the Lĕwites.
Num 3:50  From the first-born of the children of Yisra’ĕl he took the silver, one thousand three hundred and sixty-five pieces, according to the sheqel of the set-apart place.
Num 3:51  And Mosheh gave their ransom silver to Aharon, and to his sons, according to the word of יהוה, as יהוה had commanded Mosheh.

All the number of Leuites numbered were 22,000 against the first-born of the children of Yasharal from a month old and above

We read in Numbers 3:39 that the Leuites numbered were 22,000 but Numbers 26:62 says their number was 23,000

Num 3:39  All the registered ones of the Lĕwites, whom Mosheh and Aharon registered at the command of יהוה, by their clans, all the males from a month old and above, were twenty-two thousand.

Num 26:62  And their registered ones were twenty-three thousand, every male from a month old and above. For they were not registered among the other children of Yisra’ĕl, because there was no inheritance given to them among the children of Yisra’ĕl.

Carnal people immediately jump the gun saying this is a contradiction and corruption of scripture. There is no contradiction, it’s man’s ignorance of scripture that makes him say this. If you notice after the plague (as recorded in Numbers 25) Yahuah asked Masha to again take census of the children of Yasharal as well as the Leuites and is recorded in Numbers 26

Num 26:1  And it came to be, after the plague, that יהוה spoke to Mosheh and Elʽazar, son of Aharon the priest, saying,
Num 26:2  “Take a census of all the congregation of the children of Yisra’ĕl from twenty years old and above, by their fathers’ houses, everyone going out to the army in Yisra’ĕl.”

Num 26:51  These are the registered ones of the children of Yisra’ĕl: six hundred and one thousand seven hundred and thirty.

And the count of the children of Yasharal (20 years and above) came to 601,730 after the plague against 603,550 before the plague

Num 1:46  all those that were registered were six hundred thousand and three thousand five hundred and fifty.

Remember 24,000 had dropped down dead in that plague and yet Yahuah gave them increase as new children may have been born to them as a nation and teenagers may have pushed upto beyond 20 years of age (as the census was of 20 years and above) but there was difference of 1,820 people short as from before the plague (603,550 -601,730....this is the count of only 20 years and above), whereas the children of Leuites saw a 1,000 number increase post the plague as compared to before the plague.

Other thing I would like to address is that in Numbers 25 it says 24,000 died in the plague whereas in 1 Corin 10:8 emissary Shaul says 23,000 died in the plague. Again the carnal mind says this is a contradiction. There is no contradiction in scripture

Num 25:9  And those who died in the plague were twenty-four thousand.

1Cor 10:8 Nor let us act immorally, as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand FELL IN ONE DAY.

Shaul records the people dead on ONE Day and Masha records in the entire plague 24,000 died.

When they were counted again, there is no mention of the ‘half shequel’ ransom price for the children of Yasharal and there is no mention of Leuites being matched up with the first-born male and above of Yasharal after the plague. This was ONE TIME ransom price which was paid in full when they were counted the FIRST TIME.

In later centuries (post captivity), the half-shekel was replaced by one third of a sheqel as the amount of the Temple tax yearly but Yahusha upheld Torah by paying half a sheqel for Kepha and for himself which we will see in detail.

Neh 10:32  And we imposed commands on ourselves, to give from ourselves yearly one-third of a sheqel for the service of the House of our Elohim:

This census had a spiritual significance as it points to our Savior Mashiyach who would pay the ransom price for every head of the children of Yasharal at Galgatha

Num 1:2  “Take a census of all the congregation of the children of Yisra’ĕl, by their clans, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of names, every male, head by head (galgalath H1538),

Joh 19:17  And bearing His stake, He went out to the so-called Place of a Skull/HEAD, which is called in Heḇrew, Galgatha,
Joh 19:18  where they impaled Him, and two others with Him, one on this side and one on that side, and יהושע in the middle.

The question that needs to be asked is, is the ‘half a sheqel’ an atonement for the soul? The answer lies in understanding the heave offering but before that this one time census sanctuary/temple tax was made a business during Yahusha's time as it was collected yearly (as we saw post captivity) without the counting of the heads/census.

Matt 17:24 When they came to Kephar Nachum, those who collected the machatsyath/strike or pierce tax came to Kepha and said, Does your teacher not pay the machatsyath/strike or pierce tax
Matt 17:25 He said, Yes. And when he came into the house, Yahusha spoke to him first, saying, “What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth collect customs or poll-tax, from their sons or from strangers?”
Matt 17:26 When Kepha said, From strangers, Yahusha said to him again, “Then the sons are exempt.”
Matt 17:27 “However, so that we do not offend them, go to the sea and throw in a hook, and take the first fish that comes up; and when you open its mouth, you shall find a shekel. Take that and give it to them for you and Me.”

This was the same tax of 'half a sheqel' as stated in Exodus 30:11-16 we are discussing about. Matthew records this as the 'machatsyath' tax and machats in Abary means 'strike/pierce'. The temple was in Yerushalayim but the Temple tax was collected in Kephar Nahum which was in Galilee and that too by tax collectors appointed by the chief priests and scribes. The verses begin by saying those who collected the machatsyath tax came to Kepha and asked whether his Teacher pays the machatsyath tax and he said yes. Yahusha in the house where they were gathered asks Kepha about the customs/poll tax the kings of the earth collect from strangers and not from citizens to make a point that as a Son of the land he had already paid the temple tax but so as not to offend them asks Kepha to hook in a fish in which he will find a sheqel and with it he asks Kepha to pay it for himself and him (half sheqel for each of them).

Mat 4:12  And יהושע, having heard that Yoḥanan had been put in prison, withdrew into Galil.
Mat 4:13  And leaving Natsareth, He came and dwelt in Kephar Nacḥum, which is by the sea, in the borders of Zeḇulun and Naphtali,
Mat 4:14  to fill what was spoken by Yeshayahu the prophet, saying,
Mat 4:15  “Land of Zeḇulun and land of Naphtali, the way of the sea, beyond the Yardĕn, Galil of the gentiles –
Mat 4:16  the people who sat in darkness saw a great light, and upon those who sat in the land and shadow of death,

This was probably called the machatsyath/strike or pierce tax because the half a sheqel was paid to the Leuites who would do the service of the Tent of the Meeting (now the Temple) and they bore the crookedness of anything that would go wrong in the service in the Temple.

Num 3:5  And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying,
Num 3:6  “Bring the tribe of Lĕwi near, and set them before Aharon the priest, and they shall serve him,
Num 3:7  and shall guard his duty and the duty of all the congregation before the Tent of Meeting, to do the service of the Dwelling Place.

Num 18:21  “And see, I have given the children of Lĕwi all the tithes in Yisra’ĕl as an inheritance in return for the service which they are serving, the service of the Tent of Meeting.
Num 18:22  “And let the children of Yisra’ĕl not come near the Tent of Meeting, lest they bear sin and die,
Num 18:23  because the Lĕwites shall do the service of the Tent of Meeting, so they themselves bear their crookedness. A law forever, throughout your generations: that among the children of Yisra’ĕl they are to have no inheritance,
Num 18:24  but the tithes of the children of Yisra’ĕl, which they present as a heave offering/tarmah H8641 to יהוה, I have given to the Lĕwites as an inheritance. That is why I have said to them, ‘Among the children of Yisra’ĕl they have no inheritance.’ ”

Exo 30:13  “Everyone among those that pass or cross/abar among them that are counted,
is to give this: half a sheqel according to the sheqel of the set-apart place, twenty gĕrahs being a sheqel. The half-sheqel is the heave offering/tarmah H8641 to יהוה.

This half a sheqel of silver (Exo 30:13,16) was to be collected as an atonement price for each head/galgalath (Num 1:2). Thus we must understand that the sheqel from the fish mouth paid for Kepha, Kepha from Aramaic 'Kephas' means 'stone'. His name also means 'palm branch'. The root word 'Kepha' is 'kaph' which means 'rock'. They translated his name in Greek as 'Petros' meaning 'stone'. In English his name is anglicized to 'Peter'. Below is the root word in three passages of scripture.

Jer 4:29  All the city is fleeing from the noise of the horsemen and bowmen. They shall go into bushes and climb up on the rocks/kaph H3710. All the city is forsaken, and no one is dwelling in it.

Job 30:6  to dwell in the gullies of wadis, holes of the ground and rocks/kaph H3710.

John 12:13 took the branches/kapha of the palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried, saying, Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of Yahuah, even the King of Yisrael

Kaph is also the pictograph of a palm in the Paleo Hebrew

Matt 16:18 “I also say to you that you are Kepha/stone, and upon this rock/tsur I shall build My assembly/qahal; and the gates of Sheol shall not overpower it.”

Exo 30:15  “The rich does not give more and the poor does not give less than half a sheqel, when you give a contribution to יהוה, to make atonement/kaphar H3722 for your souls/nephesh H5315.

Is it coincidence that the temple tax for Kepha (branch or stone on which the assembly will be built i.e. the spiritual temple who is Yahusha himself) was paid at Kephar Nachum?

Kepha stands as the elect who branches from the branch Yahusha, living stones in the LIVING STONE Yahusha

1Pe 2:4 To whom coming to Him as to a living stone which has been rejected by men,
1Pe 2:5 you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to Elohim through Yahushua the Mashiyach.

Kephar H3722 means 'atonement' and 'Nachum' H5162 means 'repent/to be sorry'

Yahuah in his wisdom has woven this timeliness and spiritual significance in his dabar which requires spiritual discernment.

1Tim 3:15 but if I tary long, so that you shall know how you ought to behave yourself in the house/beyth of the Elohim, which is the witness of the living Elohim, the pillar and ground of the truth

As the high priest and the Temple he bore the crookedness of the assembly upon himself as an overseer of the house of Yasharal who are numbered in him. Hence this contribution of 'half a sheqel of silver' into the treasury of the Tent of the Meeting pointed to the atonement/kaphar of the soul/nephesh through Yahusha ha Mashiyach measuring to one full sheqel in him. Kaph is the root word in 'kaphar/atonement'. The nail print in his palm as the shape of a coin (a full sheqel paid from the fish's mouth). The elect gathered are likened to the fish, Yahusha told his disciples he would make them fishers of men.

Matt 4:19 And He said to them, “Follow after Me, and I shall make you fishers of men.”

The first fish that came up (Matt 17:27) is symbolic of firstfruits who is Mashiyach himself who pays the price in full for both the Temple and the people those who crossed over/abar (Exo 30:13) to be overseen/counted in Him (the assembly)

Exo 30:13  “Everyone among those who are registered is to give this: half a sheqel according to the sheqel of the set-apart place, twenty gĕrahs being a sheqel. The half-sheqel is the contribution to יהוה.

Kaphar: palm/kaph of the resh/head (That's where the nail print is there which shows the price paid in full)

Remember this tax was paid for each head/galgalath and we saw Yahusha was impaled at Galgaltha which in Hebrew means 'place of the skull/head'.

Exo 21:32  “If the ox/shur H7794 gores a servant/abad or female servant/amah, he is to give to their adonayu/Master thirty sheqels of silver, and the ox is stoned.

Shur H7790 also means 'watcher/enemy'

When the ox/shur which also means 'watcher/enemy' gores a servant/abad (Adam and Qayin were tillers H5647) and a maidservant/amah (amah was also a measure 'cubit' H520) the master/baal H1167 (see context Exo 21:28) of the shur had to pay 30 sheqels of silver to the adonayu/Master (referring to Mashiyach) and the shur had to to stoned.

Putting the above sentence without the brackets: When the watcher comes against the servants in the measures of Torah, the baal/master is required to pay the Adonayu/Master the price of 30 sheqel's of silver and the shur/watcher had to be stoned.

The basarah/gospel is hidden in the Torah passage

Hos 2:16  “And it shall be, in that day,” declares יהוה, “that you call Me ‘My Husband/ayash H376,’ and no longer call Me ‘My Baal.’

Through the watching through the Torah he gored/thrust himself to any form of disobedience to Torah

Zech 11:8  Then I cut off the three shepherds in one month/yarach (lunar month), for my being despised them, and their being also loathed me.
9  So I said, “I am not shepherding you. Let the dying die, and the straying stray, and let those who are left eat each other’s flesh.”
10  And I took my staff, Pleasantness, and cut it in two, to break the covenant which I had made with all the peoples.
11  So it was broken on that day. And the poor of the flock, who were guarding/shamar H8104 me, knew that it was the word of יהוה.
12  And I said to them, “If it is good in your eyes, give me my wages. And if not, refrain.” So they weighed out for my wages thirty pieces of silver.

13  And יהוה said to me, “Throw it to the potter,/yatsar H3335the splendid price at which I was valued by them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them into the House of יהוה for the potter.

Psalms 2: 1  Why do the nations rage, And the peoples meditate emptiness?

2  The sovereigns of the earth take their stand, And the rulers take counsel together, Against יהוה and against His Messiah, and say,

The three shepherds spoken of in Zechariah 11:8 who are cut off who stood against Yahuah and the Mashiyach were scribes, elders and priests

The poor of the flock who were guarding/shamar Me (Yahuah) knew it was the word of Yahuah (Zech 11:11)

Psalms 2:9  Break them with a rod of iron, Dash them to pieces like a potter’s/yatsar H3335 vessel.’ ”

'yatsar' also means form/fashion. In verse 13 Yahuah says to throw the thirty pieces of silver to the potter. He is the potter.

Isa 64:8  And now, O יהוה, You are our Father. We are the clay, and You our potter/yatsar H3335. And we are all the work of Your hand.

The price with which he was valued at he calls it a splendid price. Splendid price is a figure of speech. It was the price of selling a slave. Yoseph was sold by his brothers to Yishmaelites for twenty pieces of silver in 6 BC and in 4 BC Yahudah Iscariot with the scribes, elders and priests valued Mashiyach at thirty pieces of silver (a price of a slave in his day).

Gen 37:28  And men, Miḏyanite traders passed by, so they pulled Yosĕph up and lifted him out of the pit, and sold him to the Yishmaʽĕlites for twenty pieces of silver. And they took Yosĕph to Mitsrayim.

Matt 26:14  Then one of the twelve, called Yehuḏah from Qerioth, went to the chief priests,
15  and said, “What would you give me to deliver Him to you?” And they counted out to him thirty pieces of silver

Matt 27:3  Then Yehuḏah – he who delivered Him up – having seen that He had been condemned, repented, returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and to the elders,
4  saying, “I have sinned in delivering up innocent blood.” And they said, “What is that to us? You see to it!”
5  And throwing down the pieces of silver in the Dwelling Place he left, and went and hanged himself.
6  And the chief priests took the silver pieces and said, “It is not right to put them into the treasury, seeing they are the price of blood.”

7  So they took counsel and bought with them the potter’s field, for the burial of strangers/hagaryam.

The picture is of Yahuah who was called 'baali/master' by Yasharal the 'watcher/shur' who came through Torah laws goring the servants/abad who were disobeying his measures/amah and in his mercy paying the price for the goring the servant as dying on the stake as Yahusha.

He gored and paid the price for goring... It says the ox/watcher shall be stoned i.e. killed. The master of the shur and the master of the servant spiritually is ONE i.e. Yahuah who is the ADON.
It was the price of blood and Yahudah (Judas) Iscariot threw the 30 pieces of silver in the Temple and went and hanged himself, and the chief priests took the 30 silver pieces and since it was the price of blood they didn't put it into the Temple treasury but bought the potter's field for the burial of strangers/hagaryam (Hagar is the bondwoman with her children (yam) hidden in this word). The ruach is hidden in the letter.

The half a sheqel tax went into the temple treasury as the sheqel of the sanctuary (Exo 30:13) for the atonement for the soul while the 30 pieces of silver at which he was valued at by carnal men went into buying a potters field where Hagar the bondwoman and her children in bondage were buried.

Yahudah (Judas) valued the one who sprang from Yahudah (Yahusha) with the chief priests, scribes and elders at 30 pieces of silver, a slave's price. The price of blood money.

Heb 7:14 For it is evident that our Master/Adonaynu was sprang (tsamach) out of Yahudah, of which tribe Moshe spoke nothing concerning priesthood.

Coming back to the price of 'half a sheqel':
This heave offering was given by the people who were overseen by these heads as an atonement price for their souls. The silver was not the atonement for the soul as a supposed bloodless atonement but a price of their crookedness taken by Mashiyach the high priest, the price of his blood which he paid for the Tent of the Meeting where the priests and the high priest serve and where his people gather. In the renewed covenant we are the priests.

1Pe 2:9  But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a set-apart nation/guy (as in the tribe: referring to Leuites), a people for a possession, that you should proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light,

Num 3:12  “Now look, I Myself have taken the Lĕwites from among the children of Yisra’ĕl instead of every first-born who opens the womb among the children of Yisra’ĕl. And the Lĕwites shall be Mine

Kepha says in 1Peter 2:9 a set-apart nation, a people of possession....And the Leuites shall be mine (Numbers 3:12)

This money went into the treasury of the Temple to be utilized for the service of the Temple and that’s why the term ‘atonement for your souls’

Exo 38:26 a beqa H1235, that is half a sheqel for a head/galgalath H1538, according to the sheqel of the set-apart place, for everyone passing over to those counted, from twenty years old and above, for six hundred and three thousand, five hundred and fifty men.

The Abary word 'beqa' H1235 is a weight and a coin and the word also means (H1234) make a breach, break forth (into, out, in pieces, through, up), be ready to burst, cleave (asunder), cut out, divide, hatch, rend (asunder), rip up, tear, win. The breaking of the one sheqel into two halves...a picture of the price being paid for every head/galgalath being part of the Temple.

David numbers Yasharal:

2Sa 24:1  And again the displeasure of יהוה burned against Yisra’ĕl, and moved Dawiḏ against them to say, “Go, number Yisra’ĕl and Yehuḏah.
2Sa 24:2  And the sovereign said to Yo’aḇ the commander of the army who was with him, “Go please, throughout all the tribes of Yisra’ĕl, from Dan to Be’ĕrsheḇa, and register the people, so that I know the number of the people.
2Sa 24:3  And Yo’aḇ said to the sovereign, “Even if יהוה your Elohim does add to the people a hundredfold more than there are, and the eyes of my master the sovereign see it, but why does my master the sovereign delight in this matter?
2Sa 24:4  However, the sovereign’s word prevailed against Yo’aḇ and against the commanders of the army. And Yo’aḇ and the commanders of the army went out from the presence of the sovereign to register the people of Yisra’ĕl.

David disobeyed Yahuah because 1) only the Levites were to number the people (Numbers 1:1-4) 2) In David's measuring there was no ransom paid of half a sheqel for all those counted.

Num 1:1  And יהוה spoke to Mosheh in the Wilderness of Sinai, in the Tent of Meeting, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they had come out of the land of Mitsrayim, saying,
Num 1:2  “Take a census/rash H7218 of all the congregation of the children of Yisra’ĕl, by their clans, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of names, every male, head by head,
Num 1:3  from twenty years old and above, everyone going out to the army in Yisra’ĕl. Number them by their divisions, you and Aharon.
Num 1:4  “And a man from every tribe should be with you, each one the head of his father’s house.

Num 1:17  And Mosheh and Aharon took these men who were called by name,
Num 1:18  and they assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month. And they declared their ancestry by clans, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, each one head by head.
Num 1:19  As יהוה commanded Mosheh, so he registered them in the Wilderness of Sinai.

Later when David repented when he understood his folly and on the instruction of Gad the seer he offered the ransom sacrifice.

2Sa 24:13  Gaḏ then came to Dawiḏ and informed him. And he said to him, “Should seven years of scarcity of food come to you in your land? Or would you flee three months before your enemies, while they pursue you? Or should there be three days’ plague in your land? Now know and see what answer I take back to Him who sent me.”
2Sa 24:14  And Dawiḏ said to Gaḏ, “I am in great trouble. Please let us fall into the hand of יהוה, for His compassion is great, but do not let me fall into the hand of man.”
2Sa 24:15  And יהוה sent a plague upon Yisra’ĕl from the morning till the appointed time, and from Dan to Be’ĕrsheḇa seventy thousand men of the people died.
2Sa 24:16  And the messenger stretched out His hand over Yerushalayim to destroy it, and יהוה relented concerning the evil, and said to the messenger who was destroying the people, “It is enough, now stop Your hand.” And the messenger of יהוה was by the threshing-floor of Arawnah the Yeḇusite.
2Sa 24:17 And David spoke unto YAHUAH when he saw the angel that smote the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done wickedly: but these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, be against me, and against my father's house. 18 ¶ And Gad came that day to David, and said unto him, Go up, rear an altar unto YAHUAH in the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.19 And David, according to the saying of Gad, went up as the YAHUAH commanded

What is amazing to see is that Yahuah through Gad the king's seer gave him three options “Should seven years of scarcity of food come to you in your land? Or would you flee three months before your enemies, while they pursue you? Or should there be three days’ plague in your land?'' and David said 'Let us fall in the hand of Yahuah, for his compassion is great and just as it was said in Exo 30:12 ''...so that there is no plague among them...'' Yahuah sent them the plague. Yahuah watches over his Torah to fulfill it to the 'T'

Exo 30:12  “When you take the head or census of the children of Yisra’ĕl, to count them, then each one shall give an atonement for his life to יהוה, when you count them, so that there is no plague among them when you oversee them.

1Ch 21:1  And Satan stood up against Yisra’ĕl, and moved Dawiḏ to number Yisra’ĕl.
1Ch 21:2  And Dawiḏ said to Yo’aḇ and to the rulers of the people, “Go, number Yisra’ĕl from Be’ĕrsheḇa to Dan, and bring the number of them to me so that I know it.
1Ch 21:3  And Yo’aḇ answered, יהוה does add to His people a hundred times more than they are. But, my master the sovereign, are they not all my master’s servants? Why does my master seek to do this? Why should he be a cause of guilt in Yisra’ĕl?”
1Ch 21:4  But the sovereign’s word prevailed against Yo’aḇ. And Yo’aḇ left and went throughout all Yisra’ĕl and came to Yerushalayim.
1Ch 21:5  And Yo’aḇ gave the sum of the number of the people to Dawiḏ. And all Yisra’ĕl had one million one hundred thousand men who drew the sword, and Yehuḏah had four hundred and seventy thousand men who drew the sword.
1Ch 21:6  But he did not number Lĕwi and Binyamin among them, for the sovereign’s word was loathsome to Yo’aḇ.
1Ch 21:7  And it was evil in the eyes of Elohim, concerning this matter, and He smote Yisra’ĕl.

Here we don't see the half of sheqel being paid for each head because the census was incomplete (as Yoab did not complete the numbering as the tribe Binyamin were not numbered, Leuites were as it is not supposed to be numbered in the census). And David had to bear the consequences of disobedience as 70,000 men were killed in the plague.

1Ch 21:14  And יהוה sent a plague upon Yisra’ĕl, and seventy thousand men of Yisra’ĕl fell.

Heave offerings belonged to those who served in the Tabernacle:

Leuites were the ones who received the tithe from the children of Yasharal along with other portions of the gifts they offered Yahuah, they also paid the tenth of the tithe of it as a heave offering to Yahuah.

Num 18:26  “Speak to the Lĕwites and say to them, ‘When you take from the children of Yisra’ĕl the tithes which I have given you from them as your inheritance, then you shall present a heave offering/tarmah H8641 of it to יהוה, a tenth of the tithe.

Num 18:27  And this your heave offering/tarmah H8641 shall be reckoned unto you, as though it were the corn of the threshingfloor, and as the fulness of the winepress.
Num 18:28  Thus you also shall offer an heave offering/tarmah H8641 unto Yahuah of all your tithes, which you receive of the children of Yisrael; and you shall give thereof Yahuah heave offering/tarmah H8641 to Aharon the priest.
Num 18:29  Out of all your gifts ye shall offer every heave offering/tarmah H8641 of Yahuah, of all the best thereof, even the hallowed part thereof out of it.

Exo 29:26  “And you shall take the breast of the ram of Aharon’s ordination and wave it – a wave offering before יהוה, and it shall be your portion.
Exo 29:27  “And from the ram of ordination you shall set apart the breast of the wave offering which is waved, and the thigh of the heave offering/tarmah H8641 which is raised, of that which is for Aharon and of that which is for his sons.
Exo 29:28  “And it shall be from the children of Yisra’ĕl for Aharon and his sons by a law forever, for it is a heave offering/tarmah H8641. And it is a heave offering/tarmah H8641 from the children of Yisra’ĕl from their peace offerings – their contribution to יהוה.

Lev 7:11  ‘And this is the Torah of the slaughtering of peace offerings which is brought to יהוה:
Lev 7:12  ‘If he brings it for a thanksgiving, then he shall bring with the slaughtering of thanksgiving unleavened cakes mixed with oil, and unleavened thin cakes anointed with oil, or cakes of finely blended flour mixed with oil.
Lev 7:13  ‘Besides the cakes, he brings as his offering leavened bread together with the slaughtering of thanksgiving of his peace offering.
Lev 7:14  ‘And from it he shall bring one cake from each offering as a heave offering/tarmah H8641 to יהוה: to the priest who sprinkles the blood of the peace offering, it is his.
Lev 7:15  ‘As for the flesh of the slaughtering of his peace offering for thanksgiving, it is eaten the same day it is offered, he does not leave any of it until morning.

Num 5:9  ‘And every heave offering/tarmah H8641 of all the set-apart gifts of the children of Yisra’ĕl, which they bring to the priest, becomes his.

Num 5:10  ‘And every man’s set-apart gifts becomes his, whatever any man gives the priest becomes his.’ ”

We cannot get into all the heave offerings offered to Yahuah, of all the portions offered one portion was of the Leuites and the Leuites had to offer the tenth of the tithe of everything they received of the heave offerings to Yahuah. The focus of our study is the 'half a sheqel' and when it came to this heave offering, the Leuites didn't have a portion from this 'machatsyath tax' for it was for the service of the Tent of the Meeting/Temple, an atonement for the souls. They got their portion in their census against the first-born males of a month old and above of the children of Yasharal (Numbers 3:40-51) from the excess one month old males and above in the children of Yasharal. They received a portion of 5 times for all excess first-born males from month old and above which was not the machatsyath tax.

Num 3:51  And Mosheh gave their ransom silver to Aharon, and to his sons, according to the word of יהוה, as יהוה had commanded Mosheh.

Summary: The 'half a sheqel' called the 'machatsyath tax' was significant of the blood sacrifice of Mashiyach in a price paid full as a sheqel of the sanctuary and it was not a bloodless payment. Those who say it was bloodless do not understand the Torah and ruach hidden in it.
