Col 4:15 Greet the brothers in Laodicea, and Numpha and the assembly that is in his house.
Col 4:16 And when this letter is read among you, see that it is read also in the assembly of the Laodiceans, and that you likewise read the letter from Laodicea.
Col 4:17 And say to Archippus, “See to the service which you have received in the Master, so that you complete it.”
Four times Shaul the emissary mentions Laodicea in his epistle to the assembly in Colossae. ( Col 2:1, Col 4:13, Col 4:15-16). To understand why the epistle written to Colossae had to be read in the assembly at Laodicea bears so much emphasis in understanding the message of Yahusha to this assembly post the death of the emissary.
Rev 3:14 “And to the messenger of the assembly in Laodicea write; These things say The Aman, the faithful and true Witness, the chief of the creation of Aluahym:”
Rev 3:15 “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold/qar nor hot/cham; I wish that you were cold or hot.”
Rev 3:16 “So then because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I shall spit you out of My mouth.”
Rev 3:17 “Because you say, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing, and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked,”
Rev 3:18 “I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness shall not be revealed; and to anoint your eyes with eye salve, so that you may see.”
Rev 3:19 “As many as I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent.”
Rev 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I shall come in to him and shall dine with him, and he with Me.”
While the message to the assembly at Laodicea at face value reading is not easy to understand the grievous sin the assembly committed lies in understanding the word 'pashur' translated as 'lukewarm'
Ecc 8:1 Who is as the wise man and who knows the interpretation/pashar H6592 of a matter? A man’s wisdom makes his face, and the boldness of his face shall be changed.
While the interpretation of 'pashur' is correctly rendered as 'lukewarm' the emanation of the word needs to be understood in a pictograph evidence, and the evidence shows 'in between' as in 'in between hot and cold'
Now how do we know they had a diluted understanding of the divinity of Yahusha ha Mashiyach?
Col 2:1 For I wish you to know what a great struggle I have for you and those in Laodikeia, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh,
Col 2:2 that their hearts may be comforted, being been knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of Elohim our Father and mystery of Mashiyach,
Col 2:3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
Col 2:4 And this I say, so that no one deceives you with enticing words.
Col 2:5 For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the steadfastness of your belief in Messiah.
Firstly in Col 2:1 it is evident that both the assemblies at Colossae and Laodecea were not founded by Shaul as they had not seen his face in the flesh. There is further evidence that the assembly was the fruit of the ministry of Epaphras a close aide of Shaul
Col 1:7 as you also learned from Epaphras, our beloved fellow servant, who is a true servant of Messiah on your behalf,
Col 1:8 who also declared to us your love in the Spirit.
Col 4:12 Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Messiah, greets you, always wrestling for you in prayers, so that you stand perfect1 and complete in all the desire of Elohim.
Col 4:13 For I bear him witness that he/Epaphras has a deep concern for you, and for those who are in Laodikeia and those in Hierapolis.
A further proof that the assembly of Colossae had not seen the face of Shaul is seen in the letter to Philemon who belonged to the assembly at Colossae
Phm 1:22 And at the same time also prepare a place for me to stay, for I trust that through your prayers I shall be given to you.
Phm 1:23 Epaphras, fellow prisoner of me in Messiah יהושע, greets you,
How do we know Philemon belonged to the assembly of Colossae?
Phm 1:1 Sha’ul, a prisoner of Messiah יהושע, and Timothy the brother, to Philemon our beloved one and fellow worker,
Phm 1:2 and Apphia our sister, and Archippus our fellow soldier, and the assembly at your house:
Col 4:16 And when this letter is read among you, see that it is read also in the assembly of the Laodikeians, and that you likewise read the letter from Laodikeia.
Col 4:17 And say to Archippus, “See to the service which you have received in the Master, so that you complete it.”
Archippus another aide of Shaul was at the assembly in Colossae in Philemon's house. In Philemon 1:22 Shaul asks Philemon to prepare a place for him to stay for through his prayers he shall be soon coming to stay with him.
The assemblies of Laodicea and Colosse were very close to each other. Colossae was located in Phrygia, in Asia Minor. It was located 15 km southeast of Laodicea on the road through the Lycus Valley between Sardeis and Celaenae. Hence the reading of his letter to Laodecia was not just based on a close geographic area but because like the assembly at Colossae they too needed to understand that mystery of the Father Aluahym and of Mashiyach so that they acknowledge the mystery in a full understanding being knit together in love. They were in an 'in between' position just as a Unitarian today is, neither hot nor cold.
Hence Shaul had to give them convincing proofs of the divinity of Yahusha ha Mashiyach in the letter to Colossae. I have listed a few below:
Col 1:15 image of the invisible Aluahym, the firstfruits over all creation
Col 1:18 firstfruits of them who are dead, chief in all things
Col 1:19 Because in Him all the completeness was well pleased to dwell,
I looked up word to word Col 2:9 and saw that the translators didn't translate the word 'namalyam' where 'namal' H5243' which means 'bisect/ cut out of a segment'. The word affirms the divinity of Mashiyach because he was segmented/branched out/cut out
Col 2:9 For dwells/bu in/ba bodily/gupho dwelling/shakan all/kal fullness/mala the Divinity/ha Alahut and/u in/dwells wholeness/atam branched out/namalayam
In simple English: Col 2:9 For dwells in bodily dwelling all fullness of the Divinity and indwells wholeness branched out.
The word 'namal' has the root word 'mal/mul' H4135 which means 'circumcise'. Circumcision is cutting off the flesh of the foreskin, when the flesh is cut off it is still a part of the portion it was cut out from.
The very next verses say:
Col 2:9 For dwells in bodily dwelling all fullness of the Divinity and indwells wholeness branched out.
Col 2:10 and you have been made complete in Him, who is the Head of all principality and authority.
Col 2:11 and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision/maylat of Mashiyach;
Here the circumcision we speak about is the Ruach circumcision and not the fleshly token. The OT fleshly token pointed to the Ruach circumcision made without hands. It's very important we understand the term 'circumcision made without hands'. Here Shaul is saying we are circumcised in Mashiyach with a circumcision made without hands in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Mashiyach. Circumcision of Mashiyach shows that he was cut out/segmented from the Ruach without hands and in him we are cut out of this body of flesh without hands to be identified IN him. It's not that we are segmented from Aluahym, it is he who was segmented/branched out of Aluahym to be one with us and we are only identified IN HIM, apart from him all that would be left is a fleshly token which doesn't save, which doesn't make us part of Yasharal. Shaul is clear in this as he says in verse 10 of Col 2 'and you have been made COMPLETE IN HIM', hence its evident that the circumcision made without hands is speaking of Mashiyach who branched out of Aluahym and this branching out/segmentation came as a physical token for man to show that the seed that would come from the place where he is circumcised would have the promise of inheritance in Aluahym through the Son of the Mosh high who segmented/branched out of him in a circumcision made without hands. The promise was made in Turah itself.
Deu 30:6 “And יהוה your Elohim shall circumcise your heart and the heart of your seed, to love יהוה your Elohim with all your heart and with all your being, so that you might live,
Col 3:3 For you have died and your life is hidden with Mashiyach in Elohim.
Col 3:4 When the Messiah, who is our life, is manifested, then you also shall be manifested with Him in esteem.
Coming back to the message to the assembly at Laodicea, Shaul had asked his letter to Colossae to be read in the assembly at Laodicea and there is no evidence that Shaul ever visited this assembly but there is a letter he wrote to the assembly in Laodicea which he asked to be read to the assembly in Colossae and probably this letter is lost as its not available in Yahuah's dabar.
Col 4:16 And when this letter is read among you, see that it is read also in the assembly of the Laodiceans, and that you likewise read the letter from Laodicea.
But in any case there was this 'in between/pashur' (interpretation) which still persisted in this assembly which is why we see a rebuke to this assembly by Yahusha. Let's get back to the rebuke. The word 'Ludakya/Laodicea' means 'half heartedly/someone who is inbetween' and the name of the province suited the belief of that assembly. Even after the letter to Colossae being read to them and a separate letter being written to them by Shaul (probably lost) they still held on to the pashur/in between interpretation of who Mashiyach was/is.
Rev 3:16 For/ki you are/atah in between/pashur you are/atah and not/ulo cold/qar and not/ulo hot/cham al-kan/so thus vomit you/aqayak of my mouth /mam pay
Rev 3:17 “Because you say, I am rich/ashar, and suffice/matsa (H4672) with produce/aun, and have need of nothing, and you do not know that you are without word/amalal and insufficient/uduay and oppressed/anay and blind/aur and naked/arum,”
Rev 3:18 “I advise you to acquire from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may cover yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness shall not be revealed; and to anoint your eyes with ointment, so that you may see.”
The word 'matsa/ mem tsad alaph' has the root word 'mats/matsah/ mem tsad hey' (or without the hey) which means unleavened. The assembly was looking at itself as being rich in Mashiyach and unleavened in him producing the fruit and lacking nothing but because they were 'in between/pashur' they were deceived not knowing that they were without his word, insufficient, oppressed, blind and naked.
The gold refined by fire, white garments to cover nakedness and ointment for eyes to see all show that being in the 'in between' position they lacked salvation and hence it was necessary for them to know who Mashiyach was/is to acknowledge the mystery of Alahym the Father and the mystery of Mashiyach.
This assembly probably was held at 'Numpha' a Messianic's house
Col 4:15 Greet the brothers in Laodikeia, and Numpha and the assembly that is in his house.
Col 4:16 And when this letter is read among you, see that it is read also in the assembly of the Laodiceans, and that you likewise read the letter from Laodicea.
Col 4:17 And say to Archippus, “See to the service which you have received in the Master, so that you complete it.”

Pay/mouth, shan/destroy, resh/head
The spiritual picture is of the mouth destroys the head. A confession which didn't glorify Mashiyach. That's why Yahusha says he will vomit them out of his mouth. The word itself means 'interpretation' as seen in Ecc 8:1. While Strong's states the word origin to be 'Chaldee' as used many times in the book of Daniel, it's usage in Ecc 8:1 prior to the Babylonian captivity shows that the word was Abary and had an existence apart from the word 'pathar' which means to interpret.
So this assembly at Laodicea was neither hot nor cold but 'in between/pashur' and the usage of the word shows that this is related to their interpretation of who Yahusha was/is. The word 'chief of the creation of Aluahym' (Rev 3:14) is a self identification relating to his pre-eminence as declared by Shaul in his letter to the assembly in Colossae where he is termed as 'firstfruits over all creation' (Col 1:15) and 'firstfruits from the dead' and that he is the chief/ha rashun in all things (Col 1:18) was not understood by the assembly of Laodicea and hence had a diluted understanding of his divinity just as many today.
Rev 3:14 “And to the messenger of the assembly in Laodicea write; These things say The Aman, the faithful and true Witness, the chief of the creation of Aluahym:”
Now how do we know they had a diluted understanding of the divinity of Yahusha ha Mashiyach?
