Understanding the Nachash & Tanniyn sign

When we read the accounts of signs given to both house of Yasharal and house of Pharaoh we see different words used for ‘serpent’. While the English text would translate both the words as ‘serpent’ the Abary shows the purpose of Yahuah in using these different words to show & reveal His purpose in warning His people and gathering them into His Malchitsedeq priesthood in the face of Yahusha.

1. The sign for Yasharal to believe:

Exo 4:1 And Mosheh answered and said, “And if they do not believe me, nor listen to my voice, and say, ‘יהוה has not appeared to you?’ ”

Exo 4:2 And יהוה said to him, “What is that in your hand?” And he said, “A rod.”

Exo 4:3 And He said, “Throw it on the ground.” So, he threw it on the ground, and it became a serpent/ nachash H5175. And Mosheh fled from it.

Exo 4:4 And יהוה said to Mosheh, “Reach out your hand and seize it by the tail” – so he reached out his hand and took hold of it, and it became a rod in his hand –

Exo 4:5 so that they believe that יהוה Elohim of their fathers, the Elohim of Araham, the Elohim of Yitsaq, and the Elohim of Ya‛aqo, has appeared to you.”

2. The sign to Pharaoh to let Yahuah’s people go:

Exo 7:10 So Mosheh and Aharon went into Pharaoh, and they did so, as יהוה commanded. And Aharon threw his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent/tannıyn H8577

Nachash H5175 from H5172 ‘divine enchanter, whisper a spell, to hiss, brazen serpent’

Tanniyn H8577 from H8565 ‘a sea serpent, dragon, whale, huge marine animal’

Exo 4:29  And Mosheh went with Aharon and gathered together all the elders of the children of Yisra’ěl.

Exo 4:30  And Aharon spoke all the words which יהוה had spoken to Mosheh. Then he did the signs/owuth H226 before the eyes of the people.

Exo 4:31 And the people believed. And they heard that יהוה had visited the children of Yisra’ěl and that He had looked on their affliction, and they bowed their heads and did obeisance.

Aharon spoke all the words that Yahuah spoke with Mosheh and did the signs in the sight of the people which includes the sign of the rod turning into nachash.

The usage of the word ‘nachash’ is first time used for Shatan who came to tempt Chauah/Eve whereas the word ‘tanniyn’ precedes the word ‘nachash’

Gen 1:21 And Elohim created great sea creatures/tanniyn H8577 and every living being that moves, with which the waters teemed, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And Elohim saw that it was good.

This later became a sign by which Pharoah was warned of the consequences which we will see later.

First let us see Elohim's purpose for calling ha shatan 'nachash'. Ha shatan doesn't have a name and hence, reader shouldn't understand that 'nachash' is his name

1. The sign for Yasharal to believe:

Gen 3:1 And the nachash H5175 was craftier than all the lives of the field which יהוה Elohim had made, and he said to the woman, “Is it true that Elohim has said, ‘Do not eat of every tree of the garden’?”

This later became a sign by which Yasharal who were bitten by serpents would be healed by looking at the nachash which also means ‘brazen serpent’

Num 21:4 And they departed from Mount Hor by the Way of the Sea of Reeds, to go around the land of Eom. But the being of the people grew impatient because of the way.

Num 21:5 And the people spoke against Elohim and against Mosheh, “Why have you brought us up out of Mitsrayim to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and our being loathes this light bread.”

Num 21:6 And יהוה sent fiery/saraph H8314 serpents/nachashim H5175 among the people, and they bit the people. And many of the people of Yisra’ěl died.

Num 21:7 Then the people came to Mosheh, and said, “We have sinned, for we have spoken against יהוה and against you. Pray to יהוה to take away the serpents from us.” So Mosheh prayed on behalf of the people.

Num 21:8 And יהוה said to Mosheh, “Make a fiery serpent/saraph H8314, and set it on a pole. And it shall be that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, shall live.”

Num 21:9 So Mosheh made a bronze/nachasheth H5178 serpent/nachash H5175 and put it on a pole. And it came to be, if a serpent had bitten anyone, when he looked at the bronze/nachasheth H5178 serpent/nachash H5175, he lived.

Why is hashatan called nachash? Was there healing power in the nachash?

In Abary the root words in ‘nachash’ are ‘nach’ , ‘chash’ & ‘nash’:

Nach: The rest is defined as the shepherd would guide his flock to a place of water. Here is water for drinking as well as green grass for pasturing. Once the flock arrives, they are free to rest after the long journey. A guided journey to a place of rest. ‘nach’ also is a root word in ‘Noach/Noah’.

Chash: ‘chash’ means ‘bind/ to hush (like a secret)/hold still/silent or silence’

Nash: ‘nash’ means ‘debt/deception’. The pictograph is of an imposition such as a debt or deception which causes oppression.

The words put together show both positive as well as negative

Joh 3:14 “And as Mosheh lifted up the serpent/ha nachash in the wilderness, even so the Son of Aam has to be lifted up,

Joh 3:15 so that whoever is believing in Him should not perish but possess everlasting life.

Yahusha said as Moshe lifted up the nachash in the wilderness, even so He will be lifted up. He calls Himself here as ‘the Son of Adam’

Hence, positively He being the ‘nachash’ shows that He became the Son of Adam and paid ‘THE DEBT BEING OPPRESSED SILENTLY TO GIVE REST’ by enduring the stake

Isa 53:7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted, but He did not open His mouth. He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, but He did not open His mouth.

Whereas ha shatan is termed as ‘nachash’ because he ‘DECEIVES TO OPPRESS BY MISLEADING AWAY THE REST’

The ‘nachash’ on the nas/pole represented Yahusha ha Mashiyach who takes away the poison of this serpent to redeem us. That’s why Yahusha says that just as Moshe lifted up the serpent on the pole, even so the Son of Adam will be lifted up and those seeing Him (believing) will possess eternal life.

Ha Shatan didn’t come in the form of a snake in the garden, he came as a representation of Yahuah or else Chauah wouldn’t converse with him

Gen 3:1 And the nacash was craftier/arum H6175 than all the living/chay of the field which יהוה Elohim had made, and he said to the woman, “Is it true that Elohim has said, ‘Do not eat of every tree of the garden’?”

Arum H6715 from H6191 which means sensible and careful when making judgements and decisions, cautious, avoiding unnecessary risks, prudent

Gen 3:4  And the nachash said to the woman, “ not/lo muth/die tha/ you shall mathun/ dying

Gen 3:5  “For Elohim knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be like Elohim, knowing good and evil.”

Our bibles have the text translated as ‘’You shall certainly not die’’

Lo muth ta mathun: Literal translation “You shall not die in dying’’

If you didn’t understand what he said read again and understand that he said you shall not die in dying if you disobey but will eventually live. He added to Elohim’s word. Below are the words of Elohim to Adam.

Gen 2:17 but do not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for in the day that you eat of it muth/die tamuth/you shall die

Muth ta muth simply means ‘in death you shall die’ which shows mankind will be plunged to ‘eternal death’

Ha Shatan preached in lo muth ta muthun which means ‘in death you shall not die but live’ giving an indication of ‘eternal life’ with eyes being opened being like Elohim

Gen 3:5  “For Elohim knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be like Elohim, knowing good and evil.”

Remember, ‘arum’ in Gen 3:1 translated as subtil/cunning/crafty is a characteristic in ha shatan termed as ‘nachashath’, which means being careful when making judgments and decisions. Ha Shatan knew Yahuah loved man whom He created and hence, in his prudence he was actually telling Chauah/Eve that even if they disobey, they will attain the life of Elohim.

Yahusha was just in characteristic as the ‘nachashath’ in exactly fulfilling as ha shatan said lo muth ta muthun which means ‘in death you shall not die but live’ because He became the firstborn over all creation and firstborn over the dead

1Pe 3:18 For the Mashiyach also died for our sins one time for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to the Elohim, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the Spirit,

Col 1:15 who is the likeness of the invisible Elohim, the first-born of all creation

Col 1:18 And He is the Head of the body, the assembly, who is the beginning, the first-born from the dead, that He might become the One who is first in all.

So, you see how careful ha shatan was in the words he spoke to Chauah to deceive her, for in his careful judgment of things, he knew Yahuah would do anything to bring Adam and Chauah to being alive in Him. Yahusha, the likeness of Elohim/image of Elohim represents ‘Adam’ and his race. Elohim within Himself took counsel to make man in His image both heavenly as well as earthly denoted by understanding ‘’Let us make man in Our image..’’

Gen 1:26  And Elohim said, Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over the livestock, and over all the earth and over all the creeping creatures that creep on the ground.”

Gen 1:27  And Elohim created the man in His image, in the image of Elohim He created him – male and female He created them.

1Co 15:49 And as we have borne the likeness of the earthy, we shall also bear the likeness of the heavenly.

Rev 1:15 And from His (Yahusha’s) feet were like burnished/qalal bronze/nachashath, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters.

The word burnished H7043 & H7044 are the same spelling where it means polished, despised, cursed, revile, lightly esteemed’

The word shows us that Yahusha ha Mashiyach is the refined nachashath in the fire who went through the curse/being despised. The nachashath was in all metals used in the haykal/temple

Gal 3:13  Messiah redeemed us from the curse/qalal of the Torah, having become a curse/qalalah for us – for it has been written, “Cursed/qalalat is everyone who hangs upon a tree.

Gal 3:14  in order that the blessing of Aḇraham might come upon the nations in Messiah יהושע, to receive the promise of the Spirit through belief.

While the brazen serpent/nechosheth nachash healed those bitten by serpents in the wilderness, the children of Yasharal retained it and worshipped it by burning incense to it which Hezekiah destroyed it in his days.

2Ki 18:4 He (Hezekiah) took away the high places and broke the pillars, and cut down the Ashěrah, and broke in pieces the bronze/nechosheth H5178 serpent/nachash H5175 which Mosheh had made, for until those days the children of Yisra’ěl burned incense to it and called it Neushtan.

How is nachashath a sign to Yasharal?

Exo 4:3 And He said, “Throw it on the ground.” So, he threw it on the ground, and it became a serpent/ nachash H5175. And Mosheh fled/nus H5127 from it.

The word nus H5127 is the same root word ‘nas’ H5251 translated as ‘lift up a standard’

Nas H5251 banner, pole, sail, (en-) sign, standard.

Nus H5127 vanish away (subside, escape; causatively chase, impel, deliver): -    X abate, away, be displayed, (make to) flee (away, -ing), put to flight, X hide, lift up a standard.

Isa 59:19 So shall they fear the name of Yahuah from the west, and his esteem from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Ruach of Yahuah shall lift up a standard/nassah H5127 against him

The word also means vanish away. The nachash is the vanishing serpent. A Standard is raised against the serpent which will drive it away by the rod of Yahuah. The serpent who plunged mankind into eternal death would have a standard/nus raised against it to catch him in his own craftiness.

Job 5:13 catching the wise in their own craftiness/aram H6193, and the counsel of schemers are swept away

Aram H6193 & H6191 is the similar word arum H6175 which means ‘prudent/subtil’

The standard raised against the serpent will cause the serpent to flee, not us fleeing it. Hence, the sign would bring belief to Yasharal that Yahuah has visited them with His Salvation.

2. The sign to Pharaoh to let Yahuah’s people go:

We saw the definition of tanniyn and that Yahuah Elohim created the tanniym on the 5th day

Tanniyn H8577 from H8565 'tan' ‘a sea serpent, dragon, whale, huge marine animal’

Gen 1:21  And Elohim created great sea creatures/tanniym H8577 and every living creature that moves, with which the waters teemed, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And Elohim saw that it was good.

Gen 1:22  And Elohim blessed them, saying, “Bear fruit and increase, and fill the waters in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.”

Gen 1:23  And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, the fifth day.

Exo 7:10  So Mosheh and Aharon went in to Pharaoh, and they did so, as יהוה commanded. And Aharon threw his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent/tanniyn H8577.

Exo 7:11  But Pharaoh also called the wise men and the practisers of witchcraft. And they, the magicians of Mitsrayim, also did so with their magic.

Exo 7:12  And they, each one, threw down his rod, and they became serpents/tanniym H8577. But the rod/mattah H4294 of Aharon swallowed up their rods/mattah H4294 .

Exo 4:19  And יהוה said to Mosheh in Miḏyan, “Go, return to Mitsrayim, for all the men are dead who sought your life.”

Exo 4:20  So Mosheh took his wife and his sons and set them on a donkey, and he returned to the land of Mitsrayim. And Mosheh took the rod/mattah H4294  of Elohim in his hand.

This mattah/rod is termed as rod of Elohim, it is an extended branch where Yahudite tradition teaches that when Adam was driven out of the garden of Eden, Yahuah broke off a branch from the tree of life and gave it to him. This rod of Elohim was a sign of the Malchitsedeq priesthood and was handed over by father to son. This rod came into Yoseph's hand in Mitsrayim and Moshe fled from Mitsrayim with that rod in his hand. This then was handed to Aharon to perform the signs of Elohim in Mitsrayim, this was the rod that budded shaqad/almonds. For details you may read my study 'The Rod of Aluahym' on thi blog.

the rod/mattah H4294 is an extended branch and the word is also used for 'clan/tribe'

What is interesting to see is that the magicians of Mitsrayim also cast their mattah on the ground and they became serpents but Aharon's rod swallowed their rods. Notice it doesn't say Aharon's tanniyn/serpent swallowed the magicians tanniym/serpents but it says 'rod/s'

This shows that the 'tanniyn' was also the vanishing serpent for the rod/mattah represented the nus/pole, the standard Yahuah would raise against the enemy.

Eze 29:3  “Speak, and you shall say, ‘Thus said the Master יהוה, “See, I am against you, O Pharaoh sovereign of Mitsrayim, O great/gadul H1419 monster/tanniym H8577 who lies in the midst of his rivers, who has said, ‘My River is my own, and I, I have made it for myself.’

Eze 29:4  “And I shall put hooks in your jaws, and I shall make the fish of your rivers cling to your scales. And I shall bring you up out of the midst of your rivers, and all the fish in your rivers cling to your scales.

Eze 32:2  “Son of man, take up a lamentation for Pharaoh sovereign of Mitsrayim, and you shall say to him, ‘You were like a young lion among the nations, and you are like a monster/tanniyn H8577 in the seas, and you burst forth in your rivers, and trouble the waters with your feet, and muddy their rivers.’

Twice in the book of Ezekiel Yahuah calls Pharaoh of Mitsrayim as sea monster/tanniym for Pharoah called the river Nile as his own, the one he made for himself. Hence, he and his army drowning in the Red Sea was a sign of vengeance taken over Mitsrayim for the bitter bondage they put the children of Yasharal in

Ps 74:13 You divided the sea by Your strength; You broke the heads of the sea monsters/tanniym H8577 in the waters.

Ps 74:14 You crushed the heads of Liwyathan/H3882; You gave him as food for the people of the wilderness/tsiyiy H6728.

Firstly there is no instance in scripture which can be pin pointed to mean that Yahuah gave Leviathan the sea serpent to be meat to the people of the wilderness. The word tsiyiy is mistranslated in all texts in Psalms 74:14

Jewish talmud and beliefs are that Leviathan was a great sea monster and Yahuah created male and female of its kind and then later got the female killed to feed the people in the wilderness. These are beliefs outside scripture and scripture is silent on any such feeding Yasharal who inhabited the wilderness at that time. Yahuah will never feed his people with an abominable creature with several heads as Psalms 74:13-14 suggests.

tsiyiy H6728: From the same as H6723; a desert dweller, that is, nomad or wild beast: - wild beast of the desert, that dwell in (inhabiting) the wilderness.

While it can be translated as desert/wilderness, its also used for wild beasts inhabiting the desert/wilderness

Isa34:14 The desert creatures/tsiyim H6728 shall meet with the wolves, the hairy goat shall cry to his fellow; the night monster shall also settle there and shall find herself a resting place

Then how are we to understand who was fed to the desert creatures/wild beasts? First we have to solve the word 'am' which is translated as 'people'

Lets look at Ps 74:14 in Abary 14. ‘atah ritsats’at ra’shey Liw’yathan tit’nenu ma’akal la’`am la’tsiim.

The first 'la' before 'am/people' they translated it as 'for' and the second 'la' before 'tsyiym' they translated it as 'of' and that's where the confusion is.

'La' in Hebrew as a prefix is used as  'to/for' to make sense to the text. In Pslams 74:14 'him & as' are added by translators.

Translators translation: Ps 74:14 You crushed the heads of Liwyathan You gave him as food for the people of the wilderness.

The correct translation of Ps 74:14 should be  'You/atah crushed/ritsats heads of / rashay Liwyathan, You gave/titenu  food/maakal of/ la people, to/la the wild beasts of the wilderness/tssim

Put together:  Ps 74:14 You crushed heads of Leviathan, you gave food of people, to the wild beasts of the wilderness

Now it makes sense as the cross references used for Psalms 74:13-14 is YashaYahu 51:9-10

Isa 51:9 Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of Yahuah; Awake as in the days of old, everlasting generations. Was it not You who divided the proud in pieces, who wounded the sea-monster/tanniyn H8577

Isa51:10 Was it not You who dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep; who made the depths of the sea a pathway for the redeemed to cross over?

Again here in YashaYahu 51:9 the translators put the word 'rahab' referring to Rahab the harlot whereas the Rahab to saved the spies was actually an innkeeper and not a harlot. Here rahab H7293 means proud.

Understanding Psalms 74:13-14 in the light of YashaYahu 51:9-10:

The Leviathan whose heads were divided and given food of people refers to Pharaoh and his army, the food of these corpses whom the Yasharalites saw became meat to the wild beasts of the wilderness

Exo 14:30  Thus יהוה saved Yisra’ĕl that day out of the hand of the Mitsrites, and Yisra’ĕl saw the Mitsrites dead on the seashore.

Yahuchanan sees a living creature coming out of the sea whose one of his heads wounded to death and was healed. This is so much in harmony with scriptures when we compare spiritual with spiritual.

Rev 13:3 And I saw, behold, one of his heads as wounded was wounded to death, and the deadly wound, which is to him, was healed. And the whole earth marveled after the beast.

Understanding the name 'Leviathan' :

Paleo Hebrew

The word is broken down into 'luy' & 'tan'

Luy/Levi H3878 was the son of Yaaqob who was chosen for priesthood for Yasharal. All gifts and sacrifices were to be offered at his sons hands who would be the levitical priesthood

Tan H8565 is the root word in 'tanniym' which means 'sea monster/dragon/whale/sea creature'

Gen 49:5  “Shimʽon and Lĕwi are brothers, their weapons are implements of violence.

Gen 49:6  “Let my being not enter their council, let my esteem not be united to their assembly; because they slew a man in their displeasure, and they lamed an ox in pleasure.

Gen 49:7  “Bitter be their displeasure for it is fierce, and their wrath for it is cruel! I divide them in Yaʽaqoḇ and scatter them in Yisra’ĕl.

In the berekah given by Yaawob to Shimon and Levi, he says they will eventually be scattered in Yasharal. Shimon and Lewi had avenged their sister Dinah who was raped and caused a difficult situation for Yaaqob to sojurn in the land of Kenaan.

Heb 7:11  Truly, then, if perfection were through the Lĕwitical priesthood – for under it the people were given the Torah – why was there still need for another priest to arise according to the order of Malkitseḏeq, and not be called according to the order of Aharon?

Heb 7:12  For the priesthood being changed, of necessity there takes place a change of law

After the Levitical priesthood has ceased to exist and made way to the Malchitsedeq priesthood in ha Mashiyach, those going back to carnal Torah are actually going to the joining the tanniym/tan i.e. the sea monster/dragon

Rev13:1 And I was standing on the sand of the sea. Then I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads, and on his horns were ten diadems, and on his heads were blasphemous names

Rev 13:2 And the beast which I saw was the appearance like the appearance of a leopard, and his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. And the dragon/ha tannin gave him his power and his throne and great authority.

Rev13:3 And I saw, behold, one of his heads as wounded was wounded to death, and the deadly wound, which is to him, was healed. And the whole earth marveled after the beast.

This living creature with the seven heads whose one of its heads was healed makes war with the set-apart ones whose dead bodies spiritually lie on the street of the great city Yerushalam which spiritually is called Mitsrayim. The tables change, the Mitsrites/Egyptians whose dead bodies became meat for the wild beasts of the wilderness now live spiritually and kill Yahuah's set-apart ones whose dead bodies lie on the streets of spiritual Mitsrayim

Rev 11:8  and their dead bodies lie in the street of the great city which spiritually is called Seḏom and Mitsrayim, where also our Master was impaled,

Levi H3878 means 'enjoin/attached' from H3867 properly to twine, that is, (by implication) to unite, to remain; also to borrow (as a form of obligation) or (causatively) to lend: - abide with, borrow (-er), cleave, join (self), lend (-er).

What are they joined to? tan/tanniym, the sea monster/dragon in carnal Torah

Isa 27:1  In that day יהוה with His severe sword, great and strong, punishes Liwiathan the fleeing serpent/nachash H5175, Liwiathan that twisted serpent/nachash H5175. And He shall slay the monster/tanniyn H8577 that is in the sea.

Speaking of the redemption of Yasharal, Yahuah uses all 3 words 'nachash, Leviathan & tanniyn' for the destruction of ha shatan and his people and preserving the remnant of Yasharal.

Hence, the sign to Pharaoh to let his people go is a picture of His people who were joined/levi to Mitsrayim the tanniym/sea creature broken away from it.

For those who are occupied in buying & selling the old wine of Levi are enjoined to the tanniym.

Ha Shatan vs shatan:

Many people attribute the word satan to mean evil, wicked, unclean whereas the definition of satan H7854 means ‘an opponent’ whereas if prefixed by the Hebrew ‘ha’ is a definite article translated in English as ‘the’, i.e., the satan refers to actually the devil himself

Shatan From H7853; an opponent; especially (with the article prefixed) Shatan, the arch enemy of good: - adversary, Satan, withstand.

We can see the word la shatan in Hebrew being translated as ‘an adversary/opponent’ in the below scripture for Messenger of Yahuah who Yahuah Himself is

Num 22:22 But the displeasure of Elohim burned because he went, and Messenger יהוה /Malak Yahuah stationed Himself in the way as an adversary/la shatan H7854 against him. And he was riding on his donkey, and his two servants were with him.

Here, Messenger Yahuah stood in the way as an opposer to Balaam.

2 Sam 24:1 Now again the anger of Yahuah burned against Yisra’El, and it incited Dawid against them to say, Go, number Yisra’El and Yahudah

While 2 Sam 24:1 doesn’t tell us who incited David to number Yasharal and Yahudah, 1 Chr 21:1 tells us shatan (please note not ‘ha shatan’) stood up against Yasharal and moved David to number Yasharal. This act was of Yahuah Himself who stood in opposition towards Yasharal and Yahudah in putting it in David’s heart to number them so that He could bring a plague upon them.

1Chr21:1 And satan/shatan stood up against Yisra’El and moved Dawid to number Yisra’El.

There is no definite article ‘ha’ before shatan to pin point that this was the adversary/opponent of Yahuah which shows this was Messenger Yahuah who stood as adversary to Yasharal.

Ps109:4 Instead of my love they are my accusers/yashatanuni; but I am in prayer

Ps109:5 And they put on me evil for good and hatred for my love

Ps109:6 Appoint a wicked one over him, and let accuser/shatan stand at his right hand

In Psalms 109 David pours out his complaint to Yahuah against evil men who surrounded him with various accusations, in verse 4 he refers them as ‘ya shatan uni’ which is translated as ‘my accusers’. In verse 6 he prays to Yahuah to appoint a wicked one ‘shatan’ at his right hand to accuse him. No ‘ha shatan’ here but a quality of the ‘ha shatan ‘ who comes against opposing Yahuah’s people.

1Ki11:14 And raised up Yahuah adversary/shatan to Shelomoh, Hadad the Adomite; he was of the seed of the king in Edom.

1Ki 11:23 Elohim also raised up another adversary/shatan to him (Shelemoh), Rezon the son of Eliada, who had fled from his master Hadadezer king of Tsobah.

1Ki 11:24 He gathered men to himself and became leader of a band, when Dawid slew them of Tsobah; and they went to Dameseq and lived in it, and reigned in Damaseq

1Ki11:25 So he was adversary/shatan to Yisra’El all the days of Shelomoh, along with the evil that Hadad did; and he cut off in Yisra’El and reigned over Aram.

The adversary/shatan was not ‘ha shatan’ but ‘Messenger Yahuah’ fulfilling His purpose in tearing the kingdom of Yasharal from Shelemoh for Shelemoh turned away from Yahuah in worshiping foreign mighty ones by the influence of his foreign wives. This was in the plan of Yahuah in dispersing Yasharal eventually to the ends of the world from where He would gather them back again as the lost sheep of the house of Yasharal when He would come as Yahusha. In other words the adversaries/shatan Yahuah raised against Shelemoh was to fulfil His will.

1Sam 29:4 But the commanders of the Philistines were angry with him, and the commanders of the Philistines said to him, Make the man go back, that he may return to his place where you have assigned him there, and do not let him go down to battle with us, nor in the battle he may become an adversary/la shatan to us. For with what should this man reconcile himself to his master? Should it not be with the heads of these men

The commanders of Philistines call David as a potential shatan to them if in battle they take him along with them.

2 Sam19:22 Dawid then said, what have I to do with you, O sons of TseruYah, that you should this day be an adversary/la shatan to me? Should any man be put to death in Yisra’El today? For do I not know that I am king over Yisra’El today?

David tells Abishai that he is becoming an adversary/shatan to him for Abishai was asking him to put Shimei to death for cursing David. David understood that if he killed Shimei he could fall in the eyes of Yasharal for not showing mercy, he had just returned from fleeing Abshalom and Abshalom was dead who had won the hearts of people of Yasharal.

Ha Shatan:

We saw ‘la shatan’ & ‘shatan’ usage in scriptures referring to adversaries standing against Yasharal to fulfil the purpose of Yahuah.

It’s not that ha shatan (which is the actual ‘the Opposer’ to Yahuah’s purpose ) can frustrate the will of Yahuah but through his opposition to Yahuah and His people, he too actually fulfils the purpose of Yahuah. But scripture identifies him as ‘ha shatan’ where shatan is not his name but an attribute of opposing.

Job1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of the Elohim came to present themselves before Yahuah, and ha shatan/the satan also came among them.

Job 1: 6-12 & Job 2: 1-7 the Opposer/ha shatan is the accuser of brethren who came among the sons of Elohim during the feast of Unleavened bread and accused Ayob before Yahuah so that Yahuah would allow him to afflict Ayob, so that Ayob would revile Yahuah and bring an accusation against Yahuah for all the afflictions even though he is righteous. But all things work out good for those who love Elohim called according to His purpose

Rom 8:28 And behold, we know that all things to work together for good to those who love Elohim, to those who are called according to His purpose.

Zec 3:1 Then he showed me Yahushua (Joshua) the high priest standing before Messenger Yahuah, and hasatan/the accuser standing at his right hand to accuse him/shatanu

Zec 3:2 Yahuah said to hasatan, Yahuah rebuke you, hasatan! And Yahuah who has chosen Yerushalam rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?

The accuser/opposer stood at the right hand of Yahushua the high priest to accuse him, we have studied this account before. This is what Yahudah in his letter says ‘the shatan disputed on the body of Moshe’

Jude 1:9 But Mika’El the chief messenger, in contending with hashatan, when he disputed with him concerning the body of Mosheh, it is not his heart filled to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said, Yahuah rebuke you!

MikaEL in Hebrew means ‘He who is as Elohim’ is Messenger Yahuah who told ‘hashatan’ that Yahuah rebuke you, this was fulfilled by ‘ha Mashiyach/the Anointed One’ who rebuked ‘ha shatan’ on the stake by His death because the high priest under the old covenant was unclean and had to offer sacrifice for himself and then for the sins of the people of Yasharal on the Day of Atonement

Zec 3:3 Now Yahushua was clothed with filthy garments and standing before the messenger.

Zec 3:4 He spoke and said to those who were standing before him, saying, Remove the filthy garments from him. And he said to him, See, I have taken your iniquity away from you and shall clothe you with festal robes/machalats.

Chalats Strongs #2504: means loins & machal H4234 means dance. Hence, they translated ‘machalats’ as ‘festal robes’ It’s actually a festal robe which covers the nakedness of the office of the high priest by the HIGH PRIEST Ha Mashiyach.

Rev 12:10 And I heard a loud voice in the heavens, saying, Now the salvation of our El and His power and His kingdom and the authority of His Mashiyach have come for the accuser/shutan of our brothers has been thrown down and stands to accuse/shatanam them before our El day and night.

Here ‘the accuser’ spelling is ‘shin uau tet nun’ is spelled as ‘shutan

Luke 10:18 And He said to them, “I saw the satan/hashatan falling like lightning from the heavens.”

By the work of Mashiyach on the stake, the accuser is cast down from the heavenly pattern as no place is found for him to come among the sons of Elohim to accuse His people.

Yahusha ha Mashiyach was tempted by ‘ha shatan’

Matt 4:1 Then `Yahusha’ was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the satan/ha shatan.

 Origin of ha shatan:

We now understand that shatan is not the name of the wicked one but an attribute to just oppose. What about the name Lucifer? The name Lucifer is an inserted name which is incorrect. The Hebrew word there is H1966 Haylal which again is not a name but is translated as ‘Shining star’

Isa 14:12 How you have fallen from heaven, O shining star (H1966-HAYLAL), son of the morning (ben-ha shachar)! You have been cut down to the earth, you who have weakened the guym (gentiles)!

Isa 14:13 But you said in your heart, I shall ascend to heaven; I shall raise my throne above the stars (kukabim) of Al, and I shall sit on the mount of assembly in the sides of the north.

Dan 12:3 Those who have insight shall shine brightly like the brightness of the expanse of heaven, and those turn the many to righteousness, like the stars (kukabim) forever and ever.

Shatan wanted to exalt his throne above the kukabim of Al, he wanted to sit on the mount of assembly in the sides of the north. And when we compare spiritual vs spiritual we see MOUNT TSIYON on the sides of the north.

Ps 48:2 Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount TSION, on the sides of the norththe city of the great King.

The morning star of the stars is Yahusha ha Mashiyach and he is the ruler of the stars of Al on the sides of the north, the city whose great King is Mashiyach.

Rev 22:16 I, Yahusha, have sent My angel to testify to you these things for the assemblies. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning (shachar) star (kukab).

When we understand these truths, we can now see what Shatan’s desire was. He wanted to rule in place of Mashiyach. As a covering cherub he was created to guard the pattern. He understood the pattern but distorted it to man. Hence Haylal the shining star (paradox), the son of the morning (ben-shachar again used as paradox for him) who was to reflect the light of Aluahym as a star in the dark night by guarding the pattern (i.e. Mashiyach the takanayth) claimed ownership of that pattern.

Haylal being son of the morning is paradox because he never was. He wanted to become the heir; he was created to guard the way to Mashiyach.

Haylal comes from the root word ‘halal’ (Strong’s 1984) which means shine and also means praise as used in HallalUYah.

Psalms 150:6 Let everything that has breath. HalleluYah (Ha La La Uau Yah). HalleluYah! (Ha La La Uau Yah).

H   Haylal was to be towards Yah, but he was against Yah.

Shatan wanted to rule the temple of Yah whose ruler is Yahusha. The word for temple is ‘haykal’. Haykal is broken up into Ha Ya Ka La where Haya H1958 means ‘lamentation/wailing/woe’.

The word ‘hay’ is used only once in scripture as standalone but is used several times in the word ‘nahay’ which also means ‘wailing’

 Haya H1958: Lamentation/Wailing/Woe

Lal is the root word in the Hebrew word Layla/layil H3915 which means night, lal means ‘howl’

His title as ‘haylal put together is ‘Wailing & Howling’ , hence we need to understand it as a paradox as names/titles have both positive and negative meanings in Hebrew.

Shachar is translated as ‘morning’ but the pictograph is of the sun rising on the horizon while it is yet dawn. Hence some translations translate it as dawn.

N  Nu 24:17 I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star (kukab) out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and dig all the children of Sheth.t

2Pet 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto you do well that you take heed, as unto a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, the day star arises in your hearts.

John1:4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.

The true dawn/morning star is Yahusha from whom comes the light of the knowledge of Aluahym

2Cor 4:6 For Aluahym, who said, Light shall shine out of darkness, is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of Aluahym in the face of the Mashiyach.

Shachar Kukab (Bright and morning star) dispels the darkness whereas ‘haylal’ is the howling and wailing which happens in the night.

Is Devil his name?

Diabolos G1228 is a Greek word which comes from G1225 diaballo which means ‘to accuse’. Its translation of the word ‘shatan’ in Greek. Hence, diabolos is also not his name

Joh 8:44You are of your father the devil/diabolos G1228, and the desires of your father you wish to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has not stood in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks the lie, he speaks of his own, for he is a liar and the father of it.

διάβολος

diabolos

dee-ab'-ol-os

From G1225; a traducer; specifically Satan (compare [H7854]): - false accuser, devil, slanderer.

H7854 is shatan

Similarly, serpent, dragon leviathan etc. are only attributes depicting his character and he has no name, but Yahusha tells the Yahudites who said Abraham was their father and that they are free, he tells them description of their father hashatan/diabolos. He tells that hashatan was a murderer from the beginning and there is no truth in him, when he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own for he is a liar and father of it. This disapproves traditionalists theory of fall of hashatan for he never fell, he was and is the epitome of all evil. The traditionalists base the fall of hashatan based on 2 scriptures i.e., Luke 10:17-18 & Rev 12:10

Luk 10:17 And the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Master, even the demons are subject to us in Your Name.”

Luk 10:18 And He said to them, “I saw Satan falling out of the heaven as lightning/baraq.

Rev 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in the heaven, “Now have come the deliverance and the power and the reign of our Elohim and the authority of His Messiah, for the accuser of our brothers, who accused them before our Elohim day and night, has been thrown down

We saw in the study ‘How long did Ayob suffer?’ that hashatan doesn’t have access to the the throne of Yahuah but he came in among the sons of Elohim during the feast of Unleavened Bread (In Corporate worship).

The first reference Luke 10 is when Yahusha sent his disciples who came back stating that even the demons were subjected to them in Yahusha’s name (Luke 10:17). This is when Yahusha said He saw hashatan fall like lightning from heaven

We must compare spiritual things with spiritual. The voice among the voices was the magnificent voice of Yahuah among all the lightnings and the loud shopar. The writer of Hebrews says you are not come to that mount but to Mount Tsiyon, to the city of the living Elohim, to Yerushalam that is in the heavens, to Yahusha the Mediator of the renewed covenant whose voice/qol spoken from heaven, whom we will not escape if we turn away our ears from hearing his voice. This voice now shakes the heavens so that all those things that need removal when shaken are removed, as they are made, so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.

Exo 19:16 And it came to be, on the third day in the morning, that there were voices/qolot and lightnings/baraq, and a thick cloud on the mountain. And a voice of a shophar was very strong, and all the people who were in the camp trembled.

Heb 12:18 For you have not come to a mountain being touched and burned with fire, and to cloud and gloom and a storm,

Heb 12:19 and not to the sound of a trumpet and to the voice/qol of words/dabarayam, so that those who hear it begged that the word should not be added to speak to them anymore.

Heb 12:20 For they could not bear what is commanded, if even a beast touches the mountain, it shall be stoned with a stone or shot through with an arrow

Heb 12:21 And the appearance was very much fearful, that Mosheh said, I am terrified and trembling

Heb 12:22 But you have come to Mount Tsion and to the city of the living Elohim, to Yerushalam that is in the heavens

Heb 12:23 and to the congregations of myriads of messengers, and the assembly of the firstborn who are written in the heavens, and to Elohim, the Judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect,

Heb 12:24 and to Yahusha, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of the blood of Habel.

Heb 12:25 Therefore, take heed lest you refuse to hear Him that speaks. For if those did not escape when they refused to hear Him who spoke with them on the earth, how much less if we turn away to hear from the voice/qol of Him who speaks from the heavens/shamayim,

Heb 12:26 whose voice shook the earth then, but now He has promised, saying, Yet once more, I shall shake not only the earth, but also the heavens.

Heb 12:27 And this, Yet once more, that says, indicates the removal of those things which are shaken, as they are made, so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.

Hence, hashatan who found place among Yasharal in fear, in keeping them away from Yahuah not being able to draw near, are now drawn near to the same Yahuah in the heavenly pattern which remains while the earthly is shaken. Hence, hashatan has no access to the heavenly pattern to accuse the elect of Yahuah through Torah as he could do in time past through the flesh.

Rev 12:10 is in the same lines as what we understand in Hebrews 12.
