When reading Ezekiel chapter 48 we see Yahuah recording 13 tribes of Yasharal and being in their midst as Yahuah Shammah which means Yahuah is there.
Eze 48:35 “All around: eighteen thousand cubits. And the name of the city from that day is: יהוה is there1!” In Heḇrew: יהוה Shammah!
Let me list out the tribes mentioned here in Ezekiel 48 to whom were allotted the land:
1) Dan
Eze 48:1 “And these are the names of the tribes: From the north end along the way to Ḥethlon at the entrance of Ḥamath, to Ḥatsar Ěnan, the border of Damascus northward by the side of Ḥamath, from its east to its west side, Dan: one.
2) Asher
Eze 48:2 “And by the border of Dan, from the east side to the west, Ashĕr: one.
3) Naphtali
Eze 48:3 “And by the border of Ashĕr, from the east side to the west, Naphtali: one.
4) Menashsheh
Eze 48:4 “And by the border of Naphtali, from the east side to the west, Menashsheh: one.
5) Ephrayim
Eze 48:5 “And by the border of Menashsheh, from the east side to the west, Ephrayim: one.
6) Re’uḇĕn
Eze 48:6 “And by the border of Ephrayim, from the east side to the west, Re’uḇĕn: one.
7) Yahuḏah
Eze 48:7 “And by the border of Re’uḇĕn, from the east side to the west, Yehuḏah: one.
8) Lewites
Eze 48:11 for the priests of the sons of Tsaḏoq, who are set-apart, who did guard My Charge, who did not go astray when the children of Yisra’ĕl went astray, as the Lĕwites went astray.
Eze 48:12 “So this contribution shall be to them, from the contribution of the land, a most set-apart place by the border of the Lĕwites.
Eze 48:14 “And they do not sell any of it, nor exchange it, nor transfer this best part of the land, for it is set-apart to יהוה.
The Lewites were not allowed to sell their inheritance as it belonged to the prince
Eze 48:22 “So the possession of the Lĕwites and the possession of the city are in the midst of what belongs to the prince – between the border of Yehuḏah and the border of Binyamin, it belongs to the prince.
9) Binyamin
Eze 48:23 “As for the rest of the tribes, from the east side to the west side, Binyamin: one
10) Shimon
Eze 48:24 “And by the border of Binyamin, from the east side to the west side, Shimʽon:
11) Yissakar
Eze 48:25 “And by the border of Shimʽon, from the east side to the west side, Yissasḵar: one.
12) Zebulun
Eze 48:26 “And by the border of Yissasḵar, from the east side to the west side, Zeḇulun:
13) Gad
Eze 48:27 “And by the border of Zeḇulun, from the east side to the west side, Gaḏ: one.
These are the lands and portions to be divided among the tribes...I listed all the 13 tribes mentioned in this chapter.
Eze 48:29 “This is the land which you divide by lot as an inheritance among the tribes of Yisra’ĕl, and these are their portions,” declares the Master יהוה.
13 tribes?
We see in Ezekiel Yoseph's both sons Ephraym and Menashsheh are listed as he was promised a portion more than his brothers. In Rev 7 which we will see a little later his name Yoseph and Menashsheh is listed which is one and the same as Yahuah maintains his promise of lot of a double portion.
Gen 48:5 “And now, your two sons, Ephrayim and Menashsheh, who were born to you in the land of Mitsrayim before I came to you in Mitsrayim, are mine – as Re’uḇĕn and Shimʽon, they are mine.
Jos 14:4 For the children of Yosĕph had become two tribes: Menashsheh and Ephrayim. And they gave no part to the Lĕwites in the land, except cities to dwell in, with their open land for their livestock and their possessions.
Gen 48:22 “And I, I have given to you (Yoseph) one portion above your brothers, which I took from the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow.
Hence we see both Ephrayim and Menashsheh were included as tribes just as Reuben and Shimon were making the count to 13. But we know that 12 is a spiritual number denoting Yahuah's people and Yahuah maintains his lot as 12 in showing that he had to break a branch which we will see as a spiritual picture even in the Renewed Testament a little later.
Who was the tribe who was broken off as a branch?
Gen 49:16 “Dan rules his people as one of the tribes of Yisra’ĕl.
17 “Dan is a serpent by the way, an adder by the path, that bites the horse’s heels so that its rider falls backward.
1Ki 12:26 And Yaroḇʽam said in his heart, “Now the reign shall return to the house of Dawiḏ.
1Ki 12:27 “If these people go up to do slaughterings in the House of יהוה at Yerushalayim, then the heart of this people shall turn back to their master, Reḥaḇʽam sovereign of Yehuḏah, and they shall slay me and go back to Reḥaḇʽam sovereign of Yehuḏah.”
1Ki 12:28 So the sovereign took counsel and made two calves of gold, and said to the people, “It is too much for you to go up to Yerushalayim. See, your mighty ones, O Yisra’ĕl, which brought you up from the land of Mitsrayim!”
1Ki 12:29 And he set up one in Bĕyth Ěl, and the other he put in Dan.
1Ki 12:30 And this matter became a sin, for the people went before the one as far as Dan
The name Dan H1835 comes from the word Dun/Dayan H1777 means ruler/judge
Gen 49:16 Dan shall judge/dayan his people, as one of the tribes of Yisra’El.
verse 17 says Dan is like a serpent by the way, an adder by the path that bites the horses heels so that its rider falls backward.
I am seeing twelve and thirteen tribes both as being correct....because OT included Dan with his other 11 brothers and in Rev 7 Dan is excluded because this branch was broken off
OT numbering of 12 tribes:
Gen 49:1 And Yaʽaqoḇ called his sons and said, “Gather together, so that I declare to you what is to befall you in the last days:
Gen 49:2 “Gather together and hear, you sons of Yaʽaqoḇ, and listen to Yisra’ĕl your father
1) Reuben
Gen 49:3 “Re’uḇĕn, you are my first-born, my power and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of exaltation and the excellency of power.
Gen 49:4 “Boiling like water, you do not excel, because you went up to your father’s bed, then you defiled it – he went up to my couch.
2) Shimon & 3) Lewi
Gen 49:5 “Shimʽon and Lĕwi are brothers, their weapons are implements of violence.
Gen 49:6 “Let my being not enter their council, let my esteem not be united to their assembly; because they slew a man in their displeasure, and they lamed an ox in pleasure.
Gen 49:7 “Cursed be their displeasure for it is fierce, and their wrath for it is cruel! I divide them in Yaʽaqoḇ and scatter them in Yisra’ĕl.
4) Yahudah
Gen 49:8 “You, Yehuḏah, your brothers praise you; your hand is on the neck of your enemies; your father’s children bow down before you.
Gen 49:9 “Yehuḏah is a lion’s cub; from the prey you have gone up, my son! He bowed down, he crouched like a lion. And like a lion, who does rouse him?
Gen 49:10 “The sceptre shall not turn aside from Yehuḏah, nor a Lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh comes, and to Him is the obedience of peoples.
Gen 49:11 “Binding his donkey to the vine, and his donkey’s colt to the choice vine, he washed his garments in wine, and his robes in the blood of grapes.
Gen 49:12 “His eyes are darker than wine, and his teeth whiter than milk.
5) Zebulun
Gen 49:13 “Zeḇulun dwells at the seashore, he is for a haven for ships, and his border is unto Tsiḏon.
6) Yissakar
Gen 49:14 “Yissasḵar is a strong donkey lying down between two burdens,
Gen 49:15 and he saw that a resting place was good, and that the land was pleasant, and he inclined his shoulder to bear a burden, and became a subject to slave labour.
7) Dan
Gen 49:16 “Dan judges/dayan his people as one of the tribes of Yisra’ĕl.
Gen 49:17 “Dan is a serpent by the way, an adder by the path, that bites the horse’s heels so that its rider falls backward.
Gen 49:18 “I have waited for your deliverance, O יהוה!
8) Gad
Gen 49:19 “Gaḏ, a raiding band raids him, but he raids its heel.
9) Asher
Gen 49:20 “Bread from Ashĕr is rich, and he gives delicacies of a sovereign.
10) Naphtali
Gen 49:21 “Naphtali is a deer let loose, he gives words of elegance.
11) Yoseph
Gen 49:22 “Yosĕph is an offshoot of a fruit-bearing tree, an offshoot of a fruit-bearing tree by a fountain, his branches run over a wall.
Gen 49:23 “And the archers have bitterly grieved him, shot at him and hated him.
Gen 49:24 “But his bow remained in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the Mighty One of Yaʽaqoḇ – from there is the Shepherd, the Stone of Yisra’ĕl –
Gen 49:25 from the Ěl of your father who helps you, and by the Almighty who blesses you with blessings of the heavens above, blessings of the deep that lies beneath, blessings of the breasts and of the womb.
Gen 49:26 “The blessings of your father have excelled the blessings of my ancestors, up to the limit of the everlasting hills. They are on the head of Yosĕph, and on the crown of the head of him who was separated from his brothers.
12) Binyamin
Gen 49:27 “Binyamin is a wolf that tears, in the morning he eats prey, and at night he divides the spoil.”
Gen 49:28 All these are the twelve tribes of Yisra’ĕl, and this is what their father spoke to them. And he blessed them, he blessed each one according to his own blessing.
The following should be seen and not missed :
1) That Yaaqob called his 12 sons and told them what would befall them in the last days and blessed them
2) Yaaqob didn't include Ephrayim or Menashsheh in the counting as Yahuah promised him a portion more than his brothers (Gen 48:5,22), if he mentioned Yoseph he should either have mentioned Yoseph and Menashsheh as Revelation 7 mentions
3) Dan's blessing was not a blessing actually but a prophecy of him being cut off because he would cause the fall of many in Yasharal
If Menashsheh is included then the count becomes 13,
1.Reuben,
2.Simeon,
3.Judah,
4.Issachar
5.Zebulun
6.Dan
7.Naphtali
8.Gad
9.Asher
10.Benjamin
11.Yoseph
12.Manasseh (son of Yoseph)
13. Levi
We won't include Ephraiym as Yoseph is mentioned in Gen 49...and we have to maintain Gen 48:22...“And I, I have given to you one portion above your brothers.... and that's exactly what Ezekiel does in Chapter 48 but instead of Yoseph he mentions Ephrayim taking the count of 13 but Rev 7 is a spiritual numbering of the 12 tribes as 12 x 12 x 1000 =144000 and maintains the 12 tribes as per Yahuah's counting by cutting off the branch/tribe Dan as prophesied in Gen 49:18 I have waited for your deliverance, O Yahuah.
Rev 7:4 And I heard the number of those who were sealed, one hundred and forty-four thousand, sealed out of all the tribes of the children of Yisra’ĕl:
Rev 7:5 of the tribe of Yehuḏah twelve thousand were sealed, of the tribe of Re’uḇĕn twelve thousand were sealed, of the tribe of Gaḏ twelve thousand were sealed,
Rev 7:6 of the tribe of Ashĕr twelve thousand were sealed, of the tribe of Naphtali twelve thousand were sealed, of the tribe of Menashsheh twelve thousand were sealed,
Rev 7:7 of the tribe of Shimʽon twelve thousand were sealed, of the tribe of Lĕwi twelve thousand were sealed, of the tribe of Yissasḵar twelve thousand were sealed,
Rev 7:8 of the tribe of Zeḇulun twelve thousand were sealed, of the tribe of Yosĕph twelve thousand were sealed, of the tribe of Binyamin twelve thousand were sealed.
Yahuchanan maintains Yoseph's lot of one portion above his brethren by including Menashsheh and Yoseph's name, he also excludes Dan to keep the count to 12 tribes.
Ten northern tribes and 2 southern tribes:
The other problem we face is when Yahuah stripped Rehaboam the son of Shelemoh/Solomon of the tribes of Yasharal, he told Yeroboam that he would give him 10 tribes and he would preserve 1 tribe for the sake of his servant Daud which would make the count to 11. Here are the scriptures...
1Kings 11:31 and said to Yaroḇʽam, “Take for yourself ten pieces, for thus said יהוה, the Elohim of Yisra’ĕl, ‘See, I am tearing the reign out of the hand of Shelomoh and shall give ten tribes to you,
32 but he shall have ONE tribe for the sake of My servant Dawiḏ, and for the sake of Yerushalayim, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Yisra’ĕl.
Is this a problem in the counting? To understand this we must see and understand that Yasharal was now split into two houses with 10 tribes forming the northern tribes and 2 tribes becoming One tribe as the southern tribes
Benjamin and Yahudah is called as one tribe by Yahuah himself
1 Kings 12:21 And Reḥaḇoam came to Yerushalayim, and he assembled all the house of Yehuḏah with the tribe of Binyamin, one hundred and eighty thousand chosen brave men, to fight against the house of Yisra’ĕl, to bring back the reign to Reḥaḇʽam son of Shelomoh.
So going by this count we would get:
Northern tribes as:
1.Reuben,
2.Simeon,
3.Issachar
4.Zebulun
5.Dan
6.Naphtali
7.Gad
8.Asher
9.Yoseph
10.Manasseh (son of Yoseph)
11. Levi
Eleven, so wouldn't this be a problem? Because we read Yahuah told Yeroboam ...1Kings 11:31 and said to Yaroḇʽam, “Take for yourself ten pieces,
There is no contradiction in Yahuah's dabar, men create the confusion. This is what happened...Even the Lewites took their stand with Rehaboam as Yeroboam and his sons rejected them as priests serving Yahuah so they crossed over to Rehaboam into the southern tribes
2Ch 11:13 And from all their borders the priests and the Lĕwites who were in all Yisra’ĕl took their stand with him/Rehaboam.
2Ch 11:14 For the Lĕwites left their open lands and their possessions and came to Yehuḏah and Yerushalayim, for Yaroḇʽam and his sons had rejected them from serving as priests unto יהוה,
2Ch 11:15 as he appointed for himself priests for the high places, and for goats, and the calf idols which he had made.
2Ch 11:16 And after the Lĕwites left, those from all the tribes of Yisra’ĕl, such as set their heart to seek יהוה Elohim of Yisra’ĕl, came to Yerushalayim to offer to יהוה Elohim of their fathers.
So now we would have a perfect count:
Northern tribes as ten pieces:
1.Reuben,
2.Simeon,
3.Issachar
4.Zebulun
5.Dan
6.Naphtali
7.Gad
8.Asher
9.Yoseph
10.Manasseh (son of Yoseph)
Southern tribes as ONE house:
1) Yahudah
2) Benyamin
3) Lewites
There was still time for Dan to be cut off as a tribe so Yahuah allowed the count to remain as 13 but in his wisdom kept the count as 11 as seen when the houses were divided and 12 when Dan was cut off and the houses made one. This same pattern is seen in the Renewed Testament.
12 or 13 apostles of the Lamb?
Yahudah/Judas Iscariot who betrayed died leaving the count to 11, lots were cast and MattitYahu was chosen to be the twevelth.
Acts 1:26 And they drew lots for them, and the lot fell to MattithYahu; and he was added to the eleven apostles.
Was Shaul/Paul the actual 12th apostle not by man?
Gal 1:1 Sha’ul, an emissary – not from men, nor by a man, but by יהושע Messiah and Elohim the Father who raised Him from the dead
Eph 1:1 Sha’ul, an emissary of יהושע Messiah by the desire of Elohim, to the set-apart ones who are in Ephesos, and true to Messiah יהושע:
Shaul emissary/apostle not by men or man but by Yahusha Messiah and by the desire of Alahym.
Wasn't Paul indicating what was concealed in the 11/12/13 tribes comparing to Yahuah's choosing of the apostles?
Rev 21:14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve emissaries of the Lamb.
We see the same picture among the apostles as with the tribes...Yahudah Iscariot died leaving the count to 11, the apostles cast lots and chose MattitYahu to bring the count to 12 but Shaul was the apostle/emissary chosen by the desire of Alahym and not by men/man as we see in his opening greeting to the assemblies in Galatia and Ephesus. This would bring the count to 13 in the eyes of the people but Yahuah separated him as the apostle to the guym/lost sheep of the house of Yasharal and by his calling received the right hand of the fellowship along with Barnabah.
Gal 2:7 But on the contrary, when they saw that the Good News to the uncircumcised had been entrusted to me, even as Kĕpha to the circumcised –
Gal 2:8 for He who worked in Kĕpha to make him an emissary to the circumcised also worked in me for the guym/lost sheep of the house of Yasharal.
Gal 2:9 So when Yaʽaqoḇ, Kĕpha, and Yoḥanan, who seemed to be supports, came to know the favour that had been given to me, they gave me and Barnaḇah the right hand of fellowship, in order that we go to the guym and they to the circumcised,
The guym that Shaul/Paul was chosen as an apostle/emissary were not the heathen guym as Christianity believes but the lost ten tribes of Yasharal who were now termed as guym/nations. For details on who the guym are you may visit my study ' The trampling of the outer court' in the link below:

Rev 21:14 lists 12 apostles (not by name though) but who do you think was the 12th? MattitYahu who was chosen by human lots or Shaul who was not by man but by Yahusha himself?
Speaking of the tribes Revelation 7 lists 144000 which is 12 x 12 x 1000 and Dan/judge is excluded .Also Yahudah, Benjamin & Lewi are listed separate as in Renewed covenant he/Yahusha broke the middle wall of partition and made Yahudi and Yunani/Guym (ten tribes) one.
The lost 10 tribes:
The ten lost tribes were the ten of the twelve tribes of ancient Yasharal that were said to have been deported from the Kingdom of Yasharal after its conquest by the Neo-Assyrian Empirecirca 722 BCE. These are the tribes, Reuben, Simeon, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Yissakar, Zebulun, Menashsheh and Ephrayim. Claims of descent from the "lost" tribes have been proposed in relation with a Messianic view that the tribes will return as the lost sheep of the house of Yasharal known as guym.
In 732 BCE, the Assyrian king Tiglath-Pileser III sacked Damascus and Yasharal, annexing Aramea and territory of the tribes of Reuben, Gad and Manasseh in Gilead including the desert outposts of Jetur, Naphish, and Nodab. People from these tribes, including the Reubenite leader, were taken captive and resettled in the region of the Khabur River system in Assyria/Mesopotamia. Tiglath-Pilesar also captured the territory of Naphtali and the city of Janoah in Ephraim, and an Assyrian governor was placed over the region of Naphtali. According to 2 Kings 16:9 and 15:29, the population of Aram and the annexed part of Yasharal was deported to Assyria.
Yasharal continued to exist within the reduced territory as an independent kingdom subject to Assyria until around 725-720 BCE, when it was again invaded by Assyria and the rest of the population deported. Scriptures relate that the population of Yasharal was exiled, leaving only the Tribe of Yahudah, the Tribe of Binyamin, and the people of the Tribe of Lewi who lived among them of the original Yasharal tribes in the southern Kingdom of Yahudah.
2 Kings 15:29 In the days of Peqaḥ sovereign of Yisra’ĕl, Tiḡlath-Pileser sovereign of Ashshur came and took Iyon, and Aḇĕl Bĕyth Maʽaḵah, and Yanowaḥ, and Qeḏesh, and Ḥatsor, and Gilʽaḏ, and Galil, all the land of Naphtali, and took them into exile to Ashshur.
According to 2 Chronicles 15:9, some members of the tribes of Ephrayim, Menashsheh, and Shimon "fled" to Yahudah during the reign of Asa of Yahudah (c. 911 - 870 BCE). Whether these groups were absorbed into the population or remained distinct groups, or returned to their tribal lands is not indicated.
2 Chr 15:8 And when Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Oḏĕḏ the prophet, he strengthened himself, and removed the abominations from all the land of Yehuḏah and Binyamin and from the cities which he had taken in the mountains of Ephrayim, and restored the slaughter-place of יהוה that was before the porch of יהוה,
9 and gathered all Yehuḏah and Binyamin, and those who sojourned with them from Ephrayim, and Menashsheh, and Shimʽon, for they came over to him in great numbers from Yisra’ĕl when they saw that יהוה his Elohim was with him.
10 And they gathered together at Yerushalayim in the third new moon, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa,
The Lewites has already crossed over to Yahudah in the days of Yeroboam as we read earlier
2Ch 11:13 And from all their borders the priests and the Lĕwites who were in all Yisra’ĕl took their stand with him.
The Babylonian captivity:
The Babylonian captivity or Babylonian exile is the period in Yahudi history during which a number of people from the ancient kingdom of Yahudah were captives in Babylonia. After the Battle of Carchemish in 605 BCE, Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, besieged Yerushalam, resulting in tribute being paid by King Yehoiakim. Yehoiakim refused to pay tribute in Nebuchadnezzar's fourth year, which led to another siege in Nebuchadnezzar's eighth year, culminating with the death of Yehoiakim and the exile of king Yeconiah, his court and many others; Yeconiah's successor Zedekiah and others were exiled in Nebuchadnezzar's nineteenth year; a later deportation occurred in Nebuchadnezzar's twenty-third year. The dates, numbers of deportations, and numbers of deportees given in the biblical accounts vary.[2] These deportations are dated to 597 BCE for the first, with others dated at 587/586 BCE, and 582/581 BCE respectively.
After the fall of Babylon to the Persian king Cyrus the Great in 539 BCE, exiled Yahudites (southern tribes) were permitted to return to Yahudah. According to the scroll of Ezra, construction of the second temple in Yerushalam began around 537 BCE. All these events are considered significant in Yahudite history and culture.
The scriptural basis for the idea of "10 Lost Tribes" is 2 Kings 17:6
2Ki 17:6 In the ninth year of Hoshĕa, the sovereign of Ashshur captured Shomeron and exiled Yisra’ĕl to Ashshur, and settled them in Ḥalaḥ and Ḥaḇor, the River of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.
2Ki 17:7 Now this came to be because the children of Yisra’ĕl had sinned against יהוה their Elohim – who had brought them up out of the land of Mitsrayim, from under the hand of Pharaoh sovereign of Mitsrayim – and feared other mighty ones,
2Ki 17:8 and walked in the laws of the heathens whom יהוה had dispossessed from before the children of Yisra’ĕl, and of the sovereigns of Yisra’ĕl that they had made.
2Ki 17:9 And the children of Yisra’ĕl secretly did against יהוה their Elohim matters that were not right, and they built for themselves high places in all their cities, from watchtower unto the walled city,
Yasharal 10 tribes remain scattered till date. When Cyrus commanded the return of exile few from Yasharal came to strengthen their brothers hands. The Yahudite historian Josephus (37–100 CE) wrote that "the ten tribes are beyond the Euphrates till now, and are an immense multitude and not to be estimated in numbers.
Many on facebook are claiming their descent to these 10 tribes by boasting and identifying their lineage, the so called Yahudi's who returned to form the nation of Yasharal in 1948 are khazar's and not true Yahudi's. Its impossible to identify a tribe or lineage to a tribe because all the twelve tribes were dispersed into all the countries of the world.
Kepha writes his letter to the chosen, strangers of the dispersion in Pontos, Galatia, Kappadokia, Asia and Bithunia
1Pe 1:1 Kĕpha, an emissary of יהושע Messiah, to the chosen, strangers of the dispersion in Pontos, Galatia, Kappadokia, Asia, and Bithunia,
James/Yaaqob writes his letter to the twelve tribes in dispersion
Jas 1:1 Yaʽaqoḇ, a servant of Elohim and of the Master יהושע Messiah, to the twelve tribes who are in the dispersion: Greetings.
Paul understood the dispersion perfectly and that's why he said not to pay attention to fables and endless genealogies.
1Tim 1:4 nor to pay attention to fables and endless genealogies, which cause disputes rather than an administration of Elohim which is in belief.
Apart from Yahudah and Benjamin and Lewi who went into Babylonian captivity and came back to the land no other tribe from the northern tribes had a genealogy to boast of because they were scattered in dispersion of Assyrian empire.
Yahuah promised David that from his lineage Mashiyach would proceed so Yahuah made only his genealogy obvious and all those clinging to the house of Daud until Mashiyach.
Example: Paul says he is from the tribe Benjamin and that's because Benjamin clung to house of Daud.
Php 3:4 though I too might have trust in the flesh. If anyone else thinks to trust in the flesh, I more –
Php 3:5 circumcised the eighth day, of the race of Yisra’ĕl, of the tribe of Binyamin, a Heḇrew of Heḇrews, according to Torah a Pharisee,
Yoseph we already saw his descent was from Heli and Yaaqob and both were from descent of Daud For details you may refer to my study 'Understanding the genealogy of Matthew and Luke' in the link mentioned below:

Miriam and Elizabeth from house of Lewi coz house of Lewi dwelt in Yerushalam close to house of Daud
Luk 1:5 There was in the days of Herodes, the sovereign of Yehuḏah, a certain priest named Zeḵaryah, of the division of Aḇiyah. And his wife was of the daughters of Aharon, and her name was Elisheḇa.

If anyone else thinks to trust in the flesh, I more –
Php 3:5 circumcised the eighth day, of the race of Yisra’ĕl, of the tribe of Binyamin, a Heḇrew of Heḇrews, according to Torah a Pharisee,
Yoseph we already saw his descent was from Heli and Yaaqob and both were from descent of Daud For details you may refer to my study 'Understanding the genealogy of Matthew and Luke' in the link mentioned below:
https://www.facebook.com/notes/%D7%91%D7%A0%D7%99%D7%9E%D7%99%D7%9F-%D7%90%D7%A4%D7%A8%D7%99%D7%9D/understanding-the-genealogy-of-matthew-and-luke/10213584732633974/
Miriam/Mary and Elisheba were sisters and daughters of Aharon...of the Lewitical descent.
Gen 49:10 “The sceptre shall not turn aside from Yehuḏah, nor an Inscriber from between his feet, until Shiloh comes, and to Him is the obedience of peoples.
Luk 2:36 And there was Ḥannah, a prophetess, a daughter of Penu’ĕl, of the tribe of Ashĕr. She was advanced in years, and had lived with a husband seven years from her maidenhood,
Hannah from tribe of Asher who fasted day and night and waited for Mashiyach......showed few from her tribe clung to house of Daud. Because of the promise of Mashiyach Yahuah kept Daud's lineage obvious and also all clinging to his house but with the persecution that arose and Yerushalam eventually destroyed in AD 70 even the southern tribes were dispersed which is why Kepha and Yaaqob are mentioning in their letters ...to the strangers in dispersion/to the twelve tribes scattered.
Dan being listed in Ezekiel 48 and excluded from Rev 7 is like Judas/Yahudah Iscariot who by transgression fell to keep the 12 intact replacing him with Shaul/Paul from tribe of Benjamin as one chosen by Mashiyach himself. Binyamin was Yoseph's younger brother and he gave him five changes of clothing more than his brothers. A spiritual indication that he would cling to house of Yahudah from where Mashiyach would come forth from. And Yoseph was promised from him is the stone of Yasharal which was fulfilled when Boaz from Yahudah gave seed to the dead Ephrathite husband of Ruth and they are included in the lineage in Matthew as well as Luke and were great grandparents of king Daud.
Calling of Yahuah is irrevocable:
Act 13:21 “But then they asked for a sovereign, and Elohim gave them Sha’ul the son of Qish, a man of the tribe of Binyamin, for forty years.
Act 13:22 “And having removed him, He raised up for them Dawiḏ as sovereign, to whom also He gave witness and said, ‘I have found Dawiḏ the son of Yishai, a man after My own heart, who shall do all My desires.’
Yahuah removed Shaul from tribe of Binyamin to make way to Daud from Yahudah.......in New Testament he removed Yahudah (Judas name in Hebrew) to replace with Shaul from Binyamin as the 12th apostle....Paul said he is an apostle/emissary not by man but by Mashiyach....
Gal 1:1 Sha’ul, an emissary – not from men, nor by a man, but by יהושע Messiah and Elohim the Father who raised Him from the dead
Rom 11:1 I say then, has Elohim rejected His people? Let it not be! For I also am a Yisra’ĕlite, of the seed of Aḇraham, of the tribe of Binyamin
Speaking of the Olive tree representing Yasharal Shaul says Yahuah has not rejected his people or forgotten them. He broke off a few branches to make way for the lost sheep of the house of Yasharal from the 10 lost tribes to be grafted in known as the guym (not the pagan guym) for the renewed covenant is with the houses of Yasharal and Yahudah.
Heb 8:8 For finding fault with them, He says, “See, the days are coming,” says יהוה, “when I shall conclude with the house of Yisra’ĕl and with the house of Yehuḏah a renewed covenant,
Heb 8:9 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Mitsrayim, because they did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them,” says יהוה.
Heb 8:10 “Because this is the covenant that I shall make with the house of Yisra’ĕl after those days, says יהוה, giving My laws in their mind, and I shall write them on their hearts, and I shall be their Elohim, and they shall be My people.
Heb 8:11 “And they shall by no means teach each one his neighbour, and each one his brother, saying, ‘Know יהוה,’ because they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them.
Heb 8:12 “Because I shall forgive their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawlessnesses I shall no longer remember
I have shared this before on Yahudah Iscariot. His name is the same name ''Yahudah''
Yahu dalet/doorway ah (hey)...Yahudah
Yahudah Iscariot burst open in the middle and all his intestines gushed out. ...it's a picture of the doorway fallen....and if we remove dalet from Yahudah we get Yahuah
Act 1:16 “Men and brothers, this Scripture had to be filled which the Set-apart Spirit spoke before by the mouth of Dawiḏ concerning Yehuḏah, who became a guide to those who seized יהושע,
Act 1:17 because he was numbered with us and did receive his share in this service.”
Act 1:18 (This one, therefore, purchased a field with the wages of unrighteousness, and falling forward, he burst open in the middle and all his intestines gushed out.
HalaluYah Yahuah by your deep wisdom you have concealed these things in your dabar and have revealed these things to babes. Worthy are you to receive all glory and honor for your calling and election is irrevocable, you remove and plant and plant and remove to show your grace and your calling is irrevocable
Rom 11:29 For the gifts and the calling of Elohim are not to be repented of
We stand planted as you made way for us by breaking off few other branches, how wonderful are your works Oh Yahuah, how excellent is your name in all the earth. Your gentleness has made me great! HalaluYah Yahuah, Tudah for loving me and making my calling and election sure in you. Oh taste and see that Yahuah is tub for his mercy endures forever!
So is it 12 or 13? Both are correct until we see the sickle cut off one as Yahuah's elect are portrayed as the 12 tribes x 12 apostles x 1000
