Preface:
The following note is a transcript of a reply to a question whether there was a creation before ours. This note presents some words which show us our humble beginning and the Creator Himself spoke upon Himself His destiny in intervening humanity in its likeness to redeem creation from futility ie. Small beginnings to great esteem. Read on!
ברא is the word we first look at which means create and its opposite ארב which means ambush
ברא (bara)
Meaning: “to create” (Gen 1:1 – “In the beginning Elohim created the heavens and the earth”).
Root ב-ר-א conveys creative action, bringing something new into existence, a constructive force.
ארב (arab ) Meaning: “to ambush, lie in wait” (e.g., Josh 8:4 – “Set an ambush for the city”).
Root א-ר-ב conveys a hidden, destructive, or hostile action. It’s about waiting in secret to attack.
This reversal is not random—it’s a mirror contrast:
ברא is the divine act of bringing light, order, and life into being.
ארב is the chaotic, covert attempt to undo creation—a work of darkness (ambush in the night, lying in wait).
Pro 1:11 If they say, “Come with us, let us lie in wait (ארב H693) for blood, Let us ambush the innocent without cause.
Pro 1:12 “Let us swallow them alive like She’ol, And entirely, like those going down to the pit.
The enemy tries to shed innocent blood—trying to undo the work of the Creator.
1Co 2:7 But we speak the wisdom of Elohim, which was hidden in a secret, and which Elohim ordained before the ages for our esteem,
1Co 2:8 which no one of the rulers of this age knew, for if they had known, they would not have impaled the Master of esteem.
Yahusha was ambushed as they did a conspiracy to kill Him and both words ברא and ארב have the root word bar בר which means Son.
And it’s interesting to see both words have אר and רא in where Ar אר means light and Ra רא means appear. The words and their roots are mirrors of each other holding in itself the Basharah/gospel as the Ar אר (Light) and Ra רא (appear) is Yahusha
Bar בר (Son) and Rab רב (teacher) is Yahusha
The Creator spoke His destiny in an utterance as this again all ties to Gen 1:1.
Rab רב also means to multiply as it’s a root word in rabah רבה
Gen 1:28 And Elohim blessed them, and Elohim said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply רבה H7235, and fill the earth and subdue it, and rule over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over all creeping creatures on the earth.”
The entire creation was made for Him and by Him and was blessed with a multiplication which would relate directly to Himself as His essence was given to all of it in imagery.
Gen 1:2 And the earth came to be formless/ תהו thohu H8414 and empty / בהו bohu H922, and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of Elohim was moving on the face of the waters.
When we turn to YarmeYahu (Jeremiah) we see a similar picture of likeness to Yahudah in judgment and desolation
Jer 4:23 I beheld את (H853) the earth, and saw it was formless (thohu תהו H8414) and empty (bohu בהו H922). And the heavens, they had no light.
Jer 4:24 I looked at the mountains, and saw they shook, and all the hills were swaying.
Jer 4:25 I looked, and saw there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens had fled.
Jer 4:26 I looked, and saw the garden land was a wilderness, and all its cities were broken down at the presence of יהוה, by His burning displeasure.
We could first look at the words to see what actually happened
Thohu תהו translated as formless or waste is actually Covenantless because it has the root word tau (תו )
Bohu בהו translated as void has the root word bah בה which is like a vaccum that can only be filled or left void.
So Elohim was beginning from scratch when there was no covenant, nothing yet for Him to fill in. The imagery is of everything was external to Him.
Then what were the waters doing? The waters had no base, no particular flow, no direction, it was chaos, as in the waters were in a rage.
What He has revealed is only what we believe and stick to. There are many who teach a gap theory that something happened between Gen 1:1 and Gen 1:2
If something had happened Yahuah wouldn’t have showed us that He started from chaos, no covenant, emptiness and He went on to make the earth and the heavens in the day He made the heavens and the earth.
Gen 2:4 These are the births of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that יהוה Elohim made earth and heavens.
In fact, in whole of Genesis 1 until He reveals the spiritual in the natural , He doesn’t even reveal His name. Here in Genesis 2:4 is the first time His name is mentioned. Showing the chaos was settled, Covenant was made, He had filled in all of creation. Prior to this everything was external to Himself.
In YarmeYahu passages 4:22 - 27 we see YarmeYahu prophetically prophesying as Yahuah taking Yahudah to the chaotic origin because they had forsaken Him. The goodness of Yahuah is that He says in verse 27 For thus said יהוה, “All the earth shall be a ruin, but I shall not make a complete end.
So, He doesn’t make a full end of His covenant(tau) , He had already filled in (bah), and everything fell in His perfect will of creation vs redemption. The ultimate goal of creating spiritual heavens and earth in the physical earth and the heavens will be fulfilled.
This verse is so clear
Isa 45:18 For thus said יהוה, Creator /Bara ברא H1254 of the heavens, He is Elohim, creator of earth and its Maker, He established /kun כון H3559) it, He did not create it to be empty (thohu H8414 תהו) , He formed it to be inhabited: “I am יהוה, and there is none else.
Yahuah creator ie. Same word bara ברא. The verse also says Yahuah didn’t create it thohu תהו translated as vain or empty here but we saw what thohu means.
The verse says he kun/established it. Kan כן in Hebrew means Sure/Yes/Base. The picture is that He set it on a foundation/base.
The covenanted earth was created in a mirror of His destiny to bring it back unto Himself from chaos, uncovenanted and emptiness, to order, covenanted and His fullness in it.
Gen 1 creation accounts of 6 days and 7th day rest hold in itself the imagery of the designated timeframe for covenant fruitfulness
The covenant was declared when Elohim said “Let there be Light and there was Light” Gen 1:3
Shaul the emissary tells us what Elohim meant when He uttered this
2Co 4:6 For Elohim, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts for the enlightening of the knowledge of the esteem of Elohim in the face of יהושע Messiah.
Prior to this utterance the creation was thohu תהו and bohu בהו and the utterance showed He structured the formlessness and filled its emptiness with His Ruach, and kept the division intact as He separated the Light from the utter darkness termed in New Testament as outer darkness which is covenant less and outside of Him where ha Shatan and his kingdom is and so are all those who are part of the kingdom of darkness.
Mat 8:12 but the sons of the reign shall be cast out into outer darkness – there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
Mat 25:30 And throw the worthless servant out into the outer darkness – there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
I have made a detailed study on the 7,000 years where Kepha says with Yahuah one day is as thousand years and thousand years as one day. 2Pet 3:8 and the 120 jubilee years designated for mankind which is 120 x 50 =6,000 years (Gen 6:3) which is on my blog and you may refer to it.
Man was created on the 6th day falling short of the 7th day rest and we see no man ever lived 1000 years, Methuselah the longest to live, lived 969 years. Only Mashiyach lives forever representing us and fulfilling Gen 1:3 as Elohim bodily face to face with creation forever .
Gen 5:27 So all the days of Methushelaḥ were nine hundred and sixty-nine years, and he died.
Was there a creation before ours?
I’m not denying extracts of ancient trees, pottery , materials etc. existing but we have carnal archaeologists who use carbon dating to date them and other ancient materials to millions of years ago. We can’t trust them over Yahuah’s Dabar. For us we have a firm foundation and anything beyond the Dabar is explanation given by men who don’t know Yahuah and can’t relate to His covenant.
If there was a creation before ours why would Yahuah hide it from us?
Deu 29:29 “The secret matters belong to יהוה our Elohim, but what is revealed belongs to us and to our children forever, to do all the Words of this Torah.
John 1:3 says “All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.”
If anything was made before what was made, then it’s unrelated to Himself. Literally “nothing that has been made” exists outside of His creation. This excludes the possibility of any created thing existing before His act of creation.
Col 1:16-17 For by Him all things were created: in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible… all things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things…”
“All things” covers everything: spiritual and physical realms.
Yahusha (the Word) existed before creation—but nothing else did.
Psalms 90:2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever You had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting, You are Elohim.”
Yahuah existed before the earth—no mention of prior creation.
Heb 11:3 “By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of Elohim, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.”
Creation came from nothing visible, not reshaped from a prior creation.
The words Aleph-Tau where א is the first letter in Hebrew and ת is the last letter shows everything originated from Him and finds it covenant fulfilment (tau) in Him.
If there was a creation before ours, then what was its purpose? Why does it end abruptly without a plan whereas ours shows definite order out of chaos and chaos once ends in an order of His will, the chaos becomes an imagery of what will happen to those outside of Him.
I know I can’t convince anyone as His witness is greater, but am trying my best to show the witness from scriptures as everything outside scripture is chaos, without a base and a dangerous outer darkness.
Consider er this on basis of Oswald Chambers post which shows the principle “ Blessed are the paupers in the spirit”
The elect are the only ones who acknowledge this position of poverty which is the bedrock of Messiah’s kingdom. A sense of absolute futility.
Zec 4:10 “For who has despised the day of small beginnings? They shall rejoice when they see the plumb-line in the hand of Zerubbaḇel. These seven are the eyes of יהוה, which diligently search throughout all the earth.”
The “day of small beginnings ” refers to the humble beginnings of the second temple compared to Solomon’s grand one.
Many people wept seeing the foundation laid (Haggai 2:3), but Yahuah reminds them not to despise the small start—because He would bring it to completion.
Hag 2:3 Who is there left among you who saw this House in its former esteem? And how do you see it now? Is it not in your eyes as naught when compared to it?
Yahuah brought YasharEL into a realisation that their temple without Him is thohu and bohu ie. Without structure and without His presence.
Yahuah brough Ayob (Job) also to a realisation of being a pauper without Yahuah by bringing great affliction on him. When he passed the test, Yahuah gave him twice more than what he had and lost.
Job 8:7 Though your beginning was small, yet your latter end would greatly increase.
Job 8:8 Indeed, please ask the former generation, and prepare for the research of their fathers,
Job 8:9 for we are but of yesterday, and know not, because our days on earth are as a shadow.
Matthew 13:31-32 “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field; which indeed is the least of all seeds, but when it is grown, it is greater than the herbs and becomes a tree…”
Job 1:3 (Before the affliction) “His possessions also were seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred female donkeys, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.”
Job 42:12 (After the affliction) So Yahuah blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand female donkeys.
Let’s compare the count:
1. Before affliction he had 7,000 sheep and after affliction he had 14,000 sheep.
2. Before affliction he had 3,000 camels and post affliction he had 6,000 camels
3. 500 oxen before affliction and 1,000 post affliction
4. 500 female donkeys before affliction and 1,000 female donkeys post affliction
This we can see in comparison of Job 1:3 and Job 42:12
Now let’s add the numbers:
Job 1:3 : 7000+ 3000+ 500 +500
Total: 11,000 where number 11 speaks of chaos, falling short of 12 which is Yahuah’s covenanted people e.g. 12 tribes , 12 apostles of the Lamb, 24 elders (12 x 2), 144000 (12 x 12 x 1000), 120 disciples in the upper room etc. All divisible by 6 which is the number of man or humanity. Yahuah perfecting humanity in His two fold witness (heavenly + earthy) in a body to bring us into His covenant of a number related to Torah of life in Himself.
📖 Luke 2:42, 46–47 (Key verses) “And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.” (v.42)
“And it came to pass, that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. And all who heard Him were amazed at His understanding and His answers.” (vv.46–47)
A perfected understanding seen in Yahusha when he was just 12 years old. It shows Yahusha was already conscious of His Father’s business (Luke 2:49: “Did you not know I must be about My Father’s affairs?”).
In Jewish culture, age 12 is close to the bar mitzvah age (13)—the time when a boy becomes responsible for Torah.
Numbers in scripture have a significance and this is what we see:
10 = divine order, law, completion (like 10 commandments)
12 = government, fullness, organization (12 tribes, 12 apostles).
But 11 falls between → it’s one short of fullness, and often a transition into disorder.
So 11 pictures a lack of structure, incompleteness, or a time of testing before alignment.
Matt 20:6 “And about the eleventh hour He went out and found others standing idle…”
The 11th hour is right before completion (12)—it’s a time of urgency and occupancy before judgment or resolution. Idle is not a good state to be in as it’s a non occupancy state. Not here and not there.
After Judas betrays Yahusha and hangs himself, the apostles are reduced to 11 (Acts 1:15).
They are incomplete, in a state of waiting and chaos, until Matthias is chosen to restore 12.
In Biblical Hebrew, אי (ay) literally means:
“Where?” (as in “where is it?”)
א (aleph) has gematria of 1
And י (yod) has gematria of 10
Total : 11
It implies an absence or unknown location—a kind of void or state of non-occupancy. So אי = “where?” = emptiness, lack of settlement.
We see number 11 in an unsettlement state in gal whose gematria is 33 which is 3 x 11
Number 3 is the divine will of a completed witness x 11 which is chaos. His will, will carry the chaos to perfection is the picture.
Gal גל means round and is picture of a wheel,
Ezekiel 10:13 The wheels were called in my hearing, “Wheel.” (Galgal גלגל H1534)
The Vision is of the cherubim heading to a direction and the wheel is moving forward
Galgal has gematria value of 66 which is number of a man.
Galgal גלגל shows 6 x 11 where 6 is the number of a man in incomplete cycles. But has the גל Gal 3 x 11 embedded which shows His will, will carry the chaos to perfection for His chosen ones termed in scripture as remnant.
And the direction ends at galgalath ( Golgotha) where galgal meets tau (ת) where Yahusha was impaled. The picture shows of elect of Yahuah finding the Covenant order while carnal man is in the 666 cycles with wheels moving forward but no covenant destination
Both 33 and 66 are multiples of 11 which is number of chaos. Only tau/covenant, mark, seal can stop the chaos.
Now coming back to Ayob(Job), post affliction count of his possessions given in Job 42:12
14,000 + 6000 + 1000 + 1000 =22,000
22000 can be written as 2 x 11 x 1000
There are 22 letters in Abary language and 2 x 11 shows Yahuah has embedded His witness denoted by number 2 (two witnesses of Torah and Prophets) in a chaotic number 11.
In Job’s case we see 2 x 11 x 1000 where both Yahuah’s two fold witness brings the Babel language chaos (denoted by 11 in Gen 11) to a divine order denoted by 1000. Numbers 10,1000 and its multiples are numbers of completeness.
divine order, law, completion (like 10 commandments termed as 10 words).
Ayob rolled on from small beginnings as a pauper to a covenant fullness.
Similarly, Yahuah in the creation account shows chaos in waters and formlessness (thohu: covenant less) and void (bohu: an emptiness) as there was no base, no direction to the waters, they were raging. Small beginnings leading to divine order, structure, and filling in. He brought a great calm in uttering His divine order
We see a picture of Yahusha walking on the raging sea in calmness whereas His disciples were rowing against the wind and as soon as He stepped into their boat, there was a calm.
Mrk 6:47 And when evening came, the boat was in the middle of the sea. And He was alone on the land.
Mrk 6:48 And seeing them straining at rowing – for the wind was against them – at about the fourth watch of the night, He came to them walking on the sea, and He wished to pass them by.
Mrk 6:49 And when they saw Him walking on the sea, they thought it was a phantom, and cried out,
Mrk 6:50 for they all saw Him and were troubled. And immediately He spoke to them and said to them, “Take courage, it is I. Do not be afraid.”
Mrk 6:51 And He went up to them, into the boat, and the wind ceased. And they were exceedingly amazed in themselves, and marvelled.
Also another instance, he was sleeping in the boat whereas there was a rage in the sea and He rebuked and winds and the waves and there was a great calm.
Mat 8:23 And when He entered into a boat, His taught ones followed Him.
Mat 8:24 And see, a great gale arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered by the waves. But He was sleeping.
Mat 8:25 And His taught ones came to Him and woke Him up, saying, “Master, save us! We are perishing!”
Mat 8:26 And He said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little belief?” Then, having risen, He rebuked the winds and the sea. And there was a great calm.
Yahusha shows us He is that divine order, He is the structure (His body), He is filling in (Ruach) to bring creation to an occupancy state from non occupancy in Himself.
Outside of Him is chaos, thick darkness denoted by outer darkness, lifelessness and a vacuum that never can be filled . All those outside Him are in this idle, non occupancy state of ‘where is?’ Denoted by 11 (אי )
Ayzebel has got this root word ay (אי) in here name and her name means “where is her dwelling?”
Just as thohu -bohu describes chaos and void, Ayzebel’s (Jezebel’s) name asks:
“Where is her house? Where is her habitation?”
Her reign as queen of YasharEL is rootless, built on idolatry and rebellion.
In the end, she is thrown down (2 Kings 9:33), and her body isn’t even buried in a dwelling place—only her skull, feet, and palms remain (2 Kings 9:35).
2Ki 9:33 And he said, “Throw her down.” And they threw her down, and some of her blood spattered on the wall and on the horses, and he trampled her under foot.
2Ki 9:34 And he went in, and he ate and drank, and said, “Go now, see to this cursed one, and bury her, for she was a sovereign’s daughter.”
2Ki 9:35 So they went to bury her, but all they found of her was the skull/ galgalath and the feet and the palms of the hands.
The same Hebrew word Golgotha is used here
Her head—the seat of thought, authority, and identity—but severed from her body.
She was a queen who “had no dwelling” (איזבל )
“Where is her habitation?” because she was covenantless.
Her skull lying exposed is a sign of utter shame, disinheritance, and judgment.
Matthew 27:33 And when they came to a place called Golgotha (that is to say, Place of a Skull),
At Golgotha, Yahusha—the true King—was impaled:
He bore the covenantlessness of Ayzebel’s house on Himself.
He broke the galgal (cycle) of rebellion and chaos pictured in Ayzebel’s end.
Where Ayzebel’s head (galgaleth) was a sign of judgment, Yahusha’s head was crowned with thorns—taking on the curse and shame of covenant-breakers.
Gal (33) = heap, wave
Galgal (66) = revolving wheel, chaotic cycles
Ayzebel’s life was a galgal of rebellion → her end was fittingly symbolized by her galgaleth left exposed.
But at Golgotha, Yahusha:
Enters the galgal (history’s cycle of chaos).
Stops the revolving curse of sin and death.
Establishes the Aleph-Tav (את) as the beginning and end of all things. Small beginnings leading to esteem our mind cannot grasp.
Yahusha as a Creator spoke a digit mirror of His own destiny to enter chaos (denoted by Ruach Elohim hovering over the waters) to bring His creation to covenant fruitfulness. So much water of life can be drawn from this.
The pauper beginning of us is a realisation stage moving from poverty to blessedness.
Mat 5:3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, because theirs is the reign of the heavens.
We have small beginnings ( being lowly in the flesh) and Yahusha took the same path having spoken His destiny in the word Bara ברא which has digit mirrors Bar בר Son Ra רא appear vs digit mirrors Ar אר Light, AB אב father, rab רב (multiply as in be fruitful and multiply).
And the word itself Bara ברא create vs Arab ארב ambush
All showing His humbleness when He created all things related to Himself.
The creation was subjected to futility and we see this is the words thohu which means formlessness (covenant-less) and bohu which means emptiness (exterior to Him).
So Gen 1:2 is a picture of chaos, a humble beginning where the earth had no structure, void (exterior to Him) , waters were in rage, with no direction and there was absence of His Light.
His name also not yet revealed to creation as the picture is of everything exterior to Him.
Now, He began with Himself as Shaul the emissary says
Rom 8:20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not from choice, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope.
He created everything in hope of its deliverance from corruption
Rom 8:21 that the creation itself also shall be delivered from the bondage to corruption into the esteemed freedom of the children of Elohim.
So, He began with darkness in uttering Himself to be the Light of the creation Gen 1:3 and 2Cor 4:6
Now everything that was exterior to Him, became integral to Him as He subjected creation to the structure of His Body, His filling in By His Ruach and He became the perfect Tent from above Tabernacling with us.
The chaos ends in Him. Those outside of Him are still external and in the outer darkness and can’t understand His covenant. A humble beginning leading to great esteem in Him.
Adam means ‘man of low degree’
Doesn’t scripture say “What is man that You are mindful of Him, or the Son of man that you visit Him” Psalms 8:4 and Hebrews 2:6
And this all ties to Yahusha as it says
Heb 2:9 But we do see Him who was made for a little while lower than the messengers, יהושע, because of the suffering of death crowned with esteem and respect, that by the favour of Elohim He should taste death for everyone.
