Aleph Tav and Aleph uau Tav

 Preface

This exploration of the Aleph-Tav and Aleph-Uau-Tav unveils the profound spiritual and prophetic significance embedded within the Hebrew script, as revealed through the sacred texts. The study traces the origins of the Aleph, from its Canaanite pictograph as an ox head to its Paleo-Hebrew form, symbolizing divine authority and headship. It further examines the Tav as a mark of covenant and completion, culminating in the Aleph-Tav (את) and Aleph-Uau-Tav (אות) as pointers to the Messiah, the eternal Word who connects heaven and earth. Through scriptural analysis, this note illuminates how these Hebrew letters serve as divine markers of Yahuah’s redemptive plan, fulfilled in Yahusha, the Beginning and the End.

The Aleph is a letter which began in the Cannanite pictographs letter writing as an 'Ox head' was later represented in Paleo-Hebrew (ketav ivri) as two yods and one uau. This ox head, when turned to point upward, is the modern capital “A” of our alphabet. This symbol conveys the power found in the horns of the ox, and its subsequent authority/headship. In the Paleo Hebrew the Yod is a hand pointing upward and a Yod (hand) pointing downward with a uau (nail/peg) passing through it forming the Aleph alphabet.

𐤀

The Paleo Hebrew (ketav ivri) became the holy script as it was given to Moses by Yahuah through mediation of angels. (Gal 3:19 & Acts 7:53)

The 'ox head' became the symbol of leadership and in meaning is distinguished from the letter resh (ר : Modern Hebrew)

, from which the word rosh (as in Rosh Hashanah) is derived. Rosh denotes the first leader – the chief. The Aleph denotes the heavenly primacy; that is to say, the first position in all things and Elohim extending himself to creation.
The Paleo Hebrew became more dependable as the Torah was first given to Moses written by the finger of Yahuah in Paleo Hebrew. The 'Aleph' as compared to the ox horns of the Canaanite script shows a deep spiritual meaning in 'Aleph'. The upward hand (Yod) is the invisible hand of Elohim which shows his dominion/headship/rule far above all creation and the lower hand (Yod) shows his hand extended with the uau (nail) representing his humility to save.

The Tav in Paleo Hebrew was a mark that amounts to the crossing of two sticks 𐤕 to form an “t” of some sort, and hence Aleph Tav is the mark of Yahusha as he was pierced for our sins and hung on the stake.

🔹 I. Aleph-Tav (את) 𐤀𐤕

 – The “Untranslated Marker” Strong's H853

📜 1. Hebrew Composition

  • Aleph (א) – First letter of the Hebrew alphabet
  • Tav (ת) – Last letter of the Hebrew alphabet

💡 2. Meaning & Function

  • Grammatically: A direct object marker in Hebrew, often left untranslated in English.
  • Symbolically: Points to the “Beginning and the End”, a concept echoed in Revelation.

📖 3. Prophetic & Messianic Insight

  • Revelation 22:13 – “I am the Alpha and the Omega” → Greek
  • In Hebrew: “Ani haAleph v’haTav” – אני האלפ והתו
  • Used prophetically to mark the presence or action of Yahuah or Messiah.

Example:

Genesis 1:1 – “Bereshit bara Elohim את hashamayim va'את haaretz”

Here, et (את) stands silently, but prophetically places the Aleph-Tav at the center of creation — the Word (cf. John 1:1)

🔹 II. Aleph-Uau-Tav (אות) – “Sign / Mark” Strongs H226

📜 1. Hebrew Composition

  • Aleph (א) – Strength, leader, Elohim
  • Uau (ו) – Nail, hook, connects (symbol of joining heaven and earth)
  • Tav (ת) – Cross, covenant, sign

🧠 2. Meaning

  • The word “ot” (אות) means:
    • Sign
    • Mark
    • Token
    • Miracle
  • Plural: otot (אותות) – signs, wonders

✝️ 3. Prophetic Layer

  • Aleph (א) = Elohim
  • Uau (ו) = Nail
  • Tav (ת) = Covenant / Stake
➡️ “Aleph-Uau-Tav” = Elohim nailed to the cross = Messiah

The Examples:

Exodus 12:13 – “And the blood shall be for you a sign (אות) upon the houses…”

  • The blood of the lamb (a prophetic foreshadowing of Messiah) is the “owth H226” — a covenantal mark protecting from judgment.

🔥 The Covenant of Circumcision – אות as the Seal of Righteousness

📖 Bereshith 17:11 “And you shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a owth (אות) of the covenant between Me and you.”

  • ✂️ This covenant sign (אות) was cut into the flesh
  • ⚖️ It became the seal of righteousness by faith — before Torah was given
  • 📍 It pointed to a promised seed, the one through whom all nations would be blessed

🧠 INSIGHT:

  • The Aleph-Uau-Tav (אות) is used here — combining:
    • Aleph = Elohim
    • Uau = nail, connection, man
    • Tav = covenant, mark, completion
  • ✝️ This prophetic picture is of Elohim nailed in covenant — the Messiah impaled.
  • 💔 It also foreshadows the cutting away of fleshly nature — not just physical, but spiritual circumcision

📖 Debarim 10:16 “Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiff-necked.”

📖 Romans 4:11“He received the sign (owth) of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith…”

✨ ALEPH-UAU-TAV in this covenant = the sign in flesh pointing to:

  • The circumcision of the heart
  • The cutting of the Messiah
  • The seal of faith before Torah

🌿The Birthright

Both Esau and Yaaqob have the Aleph Tav before the trading of birthright was done. Also the birthright has got Aleph Tav  before it. The Aleph Tav  was blotted out from Esau while is continued to remain with Yaaqob.

Ge 25:28 And Yitshaq loved (את) Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved (את) Yaaqob

Birthright:

Ge 25:31 And Yaaqob said, Sell me this day thy (את) birthright.

Gen 27:1 is the last time where Esau's name has an (את) when he is called whereas it continues with Yaaqob and with the blessing and the words of his father Yitshaq.

Ge 27:1 ¶ And it came to pass, that when Yitshaq was old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see, he called (את) Esau his eldest son, and said unto him, My son: and he said unto him, Behold, here am I.

Ge 27:30 ¶ And it came to pass, as soon as Yitshaq had made an end of blessing (את) Yaaqob, and Yaaqob was yet scarce gone out from the (את) presence  of Yitshaq his father, that Esau his brother came in from his hunting.

Ge 27:34 And when Esau heard the words (את) of his father, he cried with a great and exceeding bitter cry, and said unto his father, Bless me, even me also, O my father.

Ge 27:41 ¶ And Esau hated (את) Yaaqob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him: and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Yaaqob.

So, we see (את) was a mark of headship and redemption i.e. a mark of Yahusha on his people. The picture is clear that Esau's name was blotted out of the book of life.

👑 The Davidic Covenant – אות of Eternal Kingship

📖 2 Samuel 7:13 הוא יבנה בית לשמי וכוננתי את כסא ממלכתו עד עולם
...vekhonanti את kise mamlakhto ad olam

"He shall build a house for My Name, and I will establish את the throne of his kingdom forever."

📖 1 Chronicles 17:12 — Parallel account of the covenant

הוא יבנה לי בית ושכנתי עד עולם וכוננתי את כסאו עד עולם

"He shall build Me a house, and I will establish את his throne forever."

🪧 Key Insight: Again, את marks the throne that is being firmly established — the promise to David and his seed.

📖Zechariah 6:12–13 — Messianic echo of the Davidic covenant

...ובנה את היכל יהוה והוא ישא הוד וישב ומשל על כסאו

“He shall build את the temple of Yahuah... and shall sit and rule on his throne.”

🪧 Key Insight: Points to Yahusha as Priest-King, fulfilling the Davidic promise with Aleph-Tav marking the Temple.

  • 🧬 This covenant is about royal seed — the Messiah as Son of David

  • 📜 It is an eternal promise — not just to rule, but to restore all creation

  • 🔑 Embedded in these passages is the language of אות (sign) and את (object marker)

🧠 INSIGHT:

  • The Aleph-Uau Tav (אות) is used in Tanakh to mark the sign of kingship

  • The Aleph-Tav (את) in prophetic texts points to Messiah as the object Yahuah acts through.

  • Example: In Zechariah 6:12–13
“Behold the Man whose name is the Branch… He shall build the Temple of Yahuah… and shall sit and rule upon His throne”

  • ✝️ Messiah Yahusha, the Aleph-Tav, is also the Son of David, sealed with the owth of promise

  • 👑 The stake becomes the final signature of the Davidic throne — a crown of thorns, a nailed King

🧭 Prophetic Flow: From Flesh to Heart, From Shadow to Fulfillment

  • 🔣 Aleph-Uau-Tav (אות) = the sign, the pointer, the mark

    • In the flesh (circumcision)

    • In the throne (kingship)

    • In prophecy (like the sign of Yonah)

  • 🔎 Aleph-Tav (את) = the object, the focus, the one acted upon by Yahuah

🕊️ The ** אות points to the את**
✝️ The sign points to the Word
👑 The cut leads to the Covenant-King

4. Summary – Messiah as אות and את

  • ⚔️ He is the Aleph-Tav – object of creation, center of Torah

  • 📍 He is the Aleph-Uau-Tav – the sign nailed, the mark given, the pointer to salvation

  • ✡ In the covenant of circumcision, He is the faithful seed

  • 👑 In the Davidic covenant, He is the eternal King

🕊️ III Scriptural Echoes

✡️ Aleph-Tav (את)

  • Appears in places before divine names or acts, acting as a pointer to Yahuah’s intervention.
  • Yahusha is the Aleph and the Tav (see Revelation 22:13)
  • That is, the beginning and the end, the object of prophecy.
  • את is hidden in the text, like the Messiah hidden in Torah
  • The object marker (את) silently points to Yahusha as the one upon whom the action is done — the Word made flesh.

✡️ Aleph-Uau-Tav (אות)

  • Seen in passages speaking of signs, marks, and wonders.
  • Compare:
    • Sign of the Son of Man (Matthew 24:30) parallels the use of אות in Hebrew Scripture.

🧩 IV. Additional Insight

  • Aleph-Tav is silent, just as Messiah was silent before His accusers — hidden in plain sight.
  • Aleph-Uau-Tav carries the visible sign of the covenant in blood, just as the Passover lamb’s blood was marked (אות) on the doors.
      • אות is the visible manifestation or sign that points to the object (את)
      • Uau (ו) in the middle shows nail = connection between heaven and earth
      • אות = “Elohim nailed to the covenant”
      • Foreshadows Yahusha being nailed to the tree — the ultimate sign of the covenant
that points to the object (את)
    • Uau (ו) in the middle shows nail = connection between heaven and earth
    • אות = “Elohim nailed to the covenant”
    • Foreshadows Yahusha being nailed to the tree — the ultimate sign of the covenant

🔥 MESSIANIC PATTERNS IN YAHUSHA’S ACTIONS

Yahusha doesn’t only claim identity (את), He confirms it with a sign (אות) — often right before or after His declaration. This pattern is intentional and prophetic.

1️⃣ “I Am the Light of the World”

📍 John 9 – He heals the man born blind.

🗣 “I am the light of the world” — He is את, the object.

🔦 The miracle (אות) = He opens blind eyes — a visible sign pointing to Him.

🧠 Light = sight; Messiah brings revelation.

2️⃣ “I Am the Bread that Came Down from Heaven”

📍 John 6 – He feeds 5,000 with five loaves and two fish.

🗣 “I am the bread of life…”

🍞 The feeding miracle is the אות that points to the את — the true bread.

🍇 Torah fed their bodies; Messiah feeds eternal life.

3️⃣ “I Am the Resurrection and the Life”

📍 John 11 – He raises Elazar (Lazarus) from the dead.

🗣 “I am the resurrection and the life…”

🌅 The resurrection is the אות; the object (את) is Yahusha Himself.

💀 Where the world sees death, the sign testifies to the one who is life eternal.

4️⃣ “I Am the Door / Gate of the Sheep”

📍 John 10 – He speaks of laying down His life for the sheep

🚪 “I am the door…”

🩸 His blood on the doorpost (Exodus 12) was a sign (אות)

🐑 Just like the Passover lamb — He is the marked object through which salvation comes

5️⃣ “I Am the Good Shepherd”

📍 He knows His sheep by name

🐏 Just as David marked and protected his sheep, so Messiah is the marked shepherd

🪧 He becomes the sign of leadership through sacrificial love

6️⃣ “I Am the True Vine”

📍 John 15 – He says, “Abide in me…”

🌿 The fruitful vine is a sign (אות) of blessing and covenant

🍇 The true vine (את) bears fruit; the fruit is the sign

7️⃣ “Before Abraham Was, I Am”

📍 John 8:58 – The hidden Aleph-Tav (את) of Abraham’s seed

🌠 The sign (אות) is in the fulfillment of promise, though hidden for generations

📜 Genesis 22:8 – “Elohim will provide Himself the lamb”

  • The increase = the uau (ו) = the nail → The connection
  • Yahusha is both את and אות, the Word and the Sign, nailed to establish the Covenant

🔥 The Mark on Qayin (Cain) – אות

  • 📖 Bereshith 4:15 — “And Yahuah set a owth (אות) upon Qayin, lest any finding him should kill him.”
  • ✋ This owth was not a sign of blessing — it was a mark of judgment and preservation
  • 🩸 Qayin had murdered his brother Habel (Abel) and was under divine curse
  • 🧍‍♂️ The mark (אות) set him apart as one who would wander, never at rest
  • ❌ It was a fleshly token, not a spiritual seal — a warning, not a reward
  • ⚖️ His life became a living sign of wrath, not redemption

⚠️ Owth Can Be Fleshly or Spiritual

  • ✝️ True owth (אות) comes from Yahuah and always points to the Aleph-Tav (Yahusha)
  • 😵‍💫 But some signs are fleshly, like Qayin’s, and mark a person for exile or deception
  • 🤯 People often seek signs for protection or proof, but miss the deeper call to repentance
  • 💔 Qayin cried out for safety — but not for forgiveness
  • 🧭 The owth he received allowed him to wander, not return

🔁 Connection to End-Times Deception

  • 🐉 The beast’s mark in Chazun (Revelation) 13 is a counterfeit owth
  • 🧬 It mimics the divine pattern — a mark on the hand or forehead — but it leads to destruction
  • 🔍 Like Qayin’s mark, it offers protection in the world, but seals one for judgment
  • 🛑 This reminds us: not all owth are set-apart, and not all marks bring blessing

🏹Signs in Egypt:

Ex 4:8 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign (אוֺת), that they will believe the voice of the latter sign (אוֺת).

9 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs (אוֺת), neither hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.

Ex 3:21 And I will give this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, ye shall not go empty:

22 But every woman shall borrow of her neighbour, and of her that sojourneth in her house, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: and ye shall put them upon your sons, and upon your daughters; and ye shall spoil את the Egyptians.

The 'aleph uau tav' before the signs in Exodus 4:8 & 9 are connected to the
את before the Egyptians whom the YasharaELites would spoil.

Ex 4:17 And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs (אוֺת)

When we compare the plagues in Egypt with the plagues mentioned in the book of Revelation we see a 'nail' fastened between the physical and the spiritual. Each sign had a spiritual meaning in it which we will not go deep into for lack of time.

Re 11:8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Master was crucified.

🙏 Spiritual Wisdom from Cain’s Mark

  • 🔦 True owth confirms Yahusha — the Aleph-Tav — and leads to life
  • 🚫 False owth, like Qayin’s, marks sin, guilt, and alienation
  • 🕊 We must seek the seal of the Ruach, not the signs of flesh
  • 📜 As it is written: “A wicked generation seeks after a sign… but no sign shall be given except the sign of Yonah”

🌌 1. Yahuah Declares: I Am the First and the Last

📖 Yeshayahu 44:6 “Thus says Yahuah, King of Yisrael, and his Redeemer Yahuah Tsevaot: I am the first and I am the last, and beside Me there is no elohim.”

📖 Yeshayahu 48:12 “Listen to Me, Yaaqob and Yisrael My called: I am He; I am the first, I also am the last.”

  • 🔥 These are direct claims of eternity, uniqueness, and sovereignty
  • 🧱 The Hebrew: Ani rishon veAni acharon — I am the first and the last
  • ⚓ This matches Aleph (first letter) and Tav (last letter) — the object marker את in Hebrew

✝️ 2. Yahusha Makes the Same Claim

📖 Chazon (Revelation) 1:17–18 “Do not be afraid. I am the first and the last. I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore.”

📖 Chazon 2:8 “These things says the First and the Last, who was dead, and came to life…”

📖 Chazon 22:13 “I am the Aleph and the Tav, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.”

  • 🎯 He claims Aleph-Tav (את) identity and says He is Rishon and Acharon
  • 🧠 This language is exclusive to Yahuah in the Tanakh
  • ✡ Yahusha is not just using poetic phrases — He is identifying Himself with Yahuah directly

🪐 3. Aleph-Tav (את) as the Infinite Bound within the Finite

  • 🔣 Aleph (א) – strength, beginning, leader, representing Elohim
  • 🔚 Tav (ת) – covenant, completion, the boundary of written expression
  • 🔒 את is used silently in the Tanakh to mark the object of action
  • 🧬 When Elohim acts in creation, He marks the target of His will with את
  • 🪓 In Bereshith 1:1 —
“Bereshith bara Elohim et hashamayim ve’et haaretz”
  • The heavens and the earth are marked by Aleph-Tav — creation is within a boundary

🧠 INSIGHT:

  • Yahuah is infinite, uncontainable
  • Yet He chooses to place Himself within limitation, within language, within time, within a body.
  • The את is the prophetic picture of the Infinite entering the finite — the Word made flesh
  • Yahusha is that object marker — the One through whom all was created (John 1:1)

🧎‍♂️ 5. Yahusha as the Visible Expression of the Hidden Word את

📖 John 1:1–3 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with Elohim, and the Word was Elohim… all things were made through Him.”

    • 🕯 Yahusha is the manifested את — the invisible object of Torah now revealed
    • 🔍 In Torah, את is silent; in the Besorah, Yahusha speaks and becomes visible
    • 🧱 The Aleph-Tav is embedded in every creative action, every covenant

🔭 6. Rishon veAcharon = Aleph-Tav = Messiah

  • ראש = head, beginning (connected to Aleph)
  • אחרון = final, last (connected to Tav)

In declaring Rishon veAcharon, both Yahuah and Yahusha proclaim:

  • Pre-existence before creation
  • Sovereign completion of history
  • Timeless on both ends, yet present in the middle
  • Messiah is the One who bridges eternity and time

🔐 7. Aleph-Tav Hidden in Names and Covenants

  • Abraham = father of nations → called to walk before the Aleph-Tav (Bereshith 17:1)
  • Mosheh = the Torah bearer → wrote all the words of Yahuah and the Aleph-Tav (Shemot 24:4)
  • Yahusha of Nazareth = born into creation to fulfill the Aleph-Tav, every stroke of Torah
  • In Zechariah 12:10:
“…they shall look upon Me את whom they have pierced…”

👉 That verse contains a standalone Aleph-Tav — not translated — yet perfectly fulfilled in Yahusha

🕊️ 8. Summary Insight

  • Yahuah says: Ani Rishon veAcharon — I am the first and the last
  • Yahusha says: I am the Aleph and the Tav, the first and the last
  • The Aleph-Tav (את) is the boundary of creation, and Yahusha is that Word within the boundary
  • He is the object marked by Elohim, through whom all was made, and to whom all must return

Summary

The Aleph-Tav (את) and Aleph-Uau-Tav (אות) are central to understanding Yahuah’s covenantal and redemptive work. The Aleph, rooted in the imagery of an ox head, signifies divine strength and leadership, while the Tav, depicted as crossed sticks, represents the covenant and its fulfillment. Together, they form the Aleph-Tav, an untranslated marker in Hebrew that prophetically points to Yahusha as the object of Yahuah’s action in creation and salvation, as seen in Genesis 1:1 and Zechariah 12:10. The Aleph-Uau-Tav, meaning "sign" or "mark," foreshadows the Messiah’s sacrifice, with the Uau (nail) symbolizing His crucifixion, as evidenced in covenants like circumcision (Genesis 17:11) and the Davidic throne (2 Samuel 7:13). From the Passover blood to the Davidic promise, these markers reveal Yahusha as the eternal King and sacrificial Lamb, bridging the infinite and finite. The study contrasts true signs, which lead to redemption, with false signs, like Qayin’s mark, warning against deception. Ultimately, Yahusha’s declarations in John and Revelation affirm His identity as the Aleph-Tav, the Word made flesh, who fulfills every covenant and prophetic sign.
